Philadelphia has lots of shops like these that make sandwiches. Of course there are also stalls in the farmer's market and the cheese steak places as well.
We've taken the word bodega too far. These days every corner deli is called a bodega. Back in the day a bodega was a small store that sold non - descript groceries items, and some simple to- go sandwiches (hero, bacon egg& cheese.) Now, any deli selling any sandwich is labeled a bodega.
I feel like Harry always just brings his perspective to these as a southerner / Londoner when its just not the case for the rest of England and the UK as a whole. I love these guys!
It's safe to say Harry is souly speaking about London there my local corner shop sells hot food as does my local petrol station of all things they do an incredible spicy chicken sandwich. London is the capital of course it's going to be commercialised and corporate. Come to the smaller towns or the little villages. You'll get plenty of local food/stores like that.
Quarter water. It's always Interesting to hear local slang for common items
I was born in the West Village in 1967 and grew up there and the LES until I moved to Chicago in 1991. I now live in Philly. I have lived in three of the 5 boroughs and run restaurants in all of them and I have never heard of a chopped cheese... But I will say, this host guy is 100% NYC authentic!
That’s because it’s a relatively new thing. It’s fine
the host moved there in 2021 tho
Yup. Facts! I've never heard of a chopped cheese sandwich till like 3 years ago. Never knew they were like a nyc stable.
I'm jealous of your unabashed pursuit of hedonism well into the throes of adulthood
Philadelphia has lots of shops like these that make sandwiches. Of course there are also stalls in the farmer's market and the cheese steak places as well.
Joe's British accent was so funny I had to rerun that like four times
Used to follow the Bodega Truck owner back when he was PeepMySneaks, so good to see him on here doing his thing!
We've taken the word bodega too far. These days every corner deli is called a bodega. Back in the day a bodega was a small store that sold non - descript groceries items, and some simple to- go sandwiches (hero, bacon egg& cheese.) Now, any deli selling any sandwich is labeled a bodega.
its the Californians moving in
Harry and joe are the best mix
I’m so jealous of my friend’s bodega in BK, they have weekly cookouts. All DR food.
Most people in Brooklyn are not domican and real new Yorkers don't call stores Bodega they just say deli or corner store
My buddy from work just told me about chopped cheese TODAY. I didn't understand what it was until an hour ago. Now I NEED five of these😂😂
I feel like Harry always just brings his perspective to these as a southerner / Londoner when its just not the case for the rest of England and the UK as a whole. Talking about independent cafe's or stores not existing or they're just being run by store chains is just not true. I can go to my local in Northumberland and get their local breakfast and you just wouldn't find that down south
Tbf, it isn't true in London either, loads of parts have offies and cafes that are absolutely parts of the community, knows everyone's orders etc, chats to everyone etc. It's mostly in zone 1 and parts of zone 2 it's not like that
Like, i live in London, but most people I see in media that talks about London seems like they've never stepped a foot into any poorer ares or anywhere outside of zone 2
What a brilliant video!..
Do those come with a defibrillator lol good though
You know it's good when you start wacking off the air 👍
chopped cheese really comes down to the seasoning
the adobo and sazon are really something else that put it above others
Glad you did this Chopped Cheese Bodega video
I'm hoping for at least one more episode of Food Tours that finds the best Mexican food, specifically tacos
Finding The Best Bodega Sandwich In New York | Food Tours | Food Insider 0538am 6.12.23 probably too many letters in the name but USA SANDWICH FIASCO is an excellent name for a race horse.
i prefer the do that in LA. that would be such a cool video. lots to try in LA!
At this point im just watching these vids to see harry and the american lol, doesnt matter to me what they’re doin
I love this about america; food trucks. They have a form of this in food festivals and markets. I've had some of the most exciting interesting food from food carts.
Nostalgia hit me when I saw the Bubble beeper in the bodega truck I haven’t seen that for 28 years
The host reaction after the first bite is pretty authentic
love this episode
The bodega truck is amazing. It’s a regular spot for me.
Didn’t forget the bev with the first chopped cheese too. Authentic NYC moment.
