American Shad Fishing at Bonneville Dam 2021 | Beacon Rock State Park Camping | Tri Nguyen

We went to Bonneville Dam to fish for American shad over the weekend. We decided to camp at Beacon Rock State Park, which is about 10 minutes from the dam, for a few days to ensure that we wouldn't go home empty handed. Unfortunately, we didn't the check the weather, which is basically more than 50% chance of rain everyday. We were obligated to wonder around our camp site most of the time. We didn't get to go fishing until the second day. Typically, we still lost many sinkers and jigs in the river due to lack of experience, but it was a great learning experience. It was fun, lots of fun.

How long before you wipe out that fish run !

I'm not quite sure. It was our first time catching any shad there, but many people mentioned the run usually end around the first week of July.
