Those are jis “ Japanese industrial standard” not Phillips you know because they always have a punch Mark on top of the screw head as well. They don’t seem like it’s that much difference but a good Japanese JS screwdriver is valuable I even have a set of JIS bits for my impact screwdriver.

I got a wiseco kit on my 99’ 80 put a brand new kx100 cylinder on it it ran good but previous owner put the hot rods crank kit bearings in it and those bearings are shit so the bike seized so I am now in the process of re doing the whole motor and I also found a few unpleasant surprises along the way

Oh man sounds like a fun project. I have found that the biggest help on new lower end bearings is to pre lube them extra well before the initial start up. Good luck with your project and hopefully no more surprises from the engine gremlins. Thanks for the comment I really appreciate it. Ever had a clutch hub nut absolutely not come off with all the right tools? We have basket holder and impact and cannot get it off. Like it’s welded on’

What engine was it. Some bikes had a left hand thread. Dang that sucks if it’s that tight. Good luck with your projects

Trying to do the same thing to my bike. The crank is seized and I’m not sure what may have caused that do you have any ideas what to look for as it is my first time tearing a motor apart.

More than likely a combo of wear and tear and possibly the wrong fuel/oil ratio. That’s a pretty common failure. Good luck on your build and please subscribe if you haven’t already

Just about to do a crank on my son's. I've done one on an yz85 and was lucky enough to gently split the case with a rubber mallet. You think that was luck and I may need to get a splinter? Thanks for the video !!

Man I think I would invest the money on a splitter. They are fairly cheap and it sounds like you could have used one already. My rule is, if you need a specific tool twice you better own it because most definitely you will need it a third time. I would also spend the little extra cash for a installer tool well worth the money. Thanks a bunch for watching and if you haven’t already please like and definitely subscribe. Is that from that nut on the cam coming off or even from the neglect from the clutch basket cause that also. My daughters 2020 kx85 stopped working all of sudden. Long story I didn’t know your not supposed to hold 2stroke pinned open for long periods of time. So on the way to drop the bike off to her friends house that lives right down the street from the track we decided that my son would just ride the bike over to the house (didn’t have to load and unload) to drop it off as she was going to spend the night to get some practice in on Sunday at the track. The reason we rode it so they didn’t have to load up another bike on top of the other bikes in her friends toy hauler. So on the ride over my son said he heard like a rock it the bottom of the bike and then lost power then the back tire locked up then un locked up. Tried to kick it over no start. Unfortunately I hurt my back the night before so that’s why I drugged my son out with me to help unload of the stuff for his sister. I haven’t touched the bike yet as of 5/17/22 but what do you think happen. The bike isn’t sized you can still spin the tire and everything moves smooth and the kick crank still moves. Can tell the compression is low I’m no mechanic so I’m just trying to find out what had caused it. Going to start with pulling the cylinder.off first. Someone said I could have burned the rings or burned a hole in the piston along with other issues with the cylinder. Thanks for your advice in advance. Just a struggling single dad trying to learn and let his baby girl do what she loves most. MOTTO I can’t afford to put it in a shop so I gotta try to do the work myself with my injury.

Dang sorry to hear about all the trouble you have had. That definitely makes a fun day of riding not so fun. It’s hard to say what went wrong. Could be a number of things. I would definitely start with pulling the to end apart and start inspection there. The bike I was working on was caused by what I believe some one didn’t torque the nut to the crank properly. Due to it being left hand thread it backed off over time and let everything interfere with the clutch basket. My advise is buy a repair manual and follow it step by step and you will be up and running in no time. I bet the cause of your no running will be super obvious. Thanks for watching and if you haven’t yet please hit that subscribe button and spread the word. Kevin🤘

@@DIRTBIKEFAB thanks I got the manual the bike came with so I’ll start with the head down. But would the clutch basket have anything to do with it. I mean she rode it all day at the track until all the plans were decided that’s when my son ran into that problem. It’s a 2020 as far as I know it was never raced when I got it last year in 2021 I’m the 2nd owner . So I don’t believe it should be anything with the bottom end. The only thing that was done wrong was being pinned for to long. But I’m no mechanic and hope it’s something as easy a top end rebuild even if I need a new cylinder. Thought about doing a compression test for starters

    • @DIRTBIKEFAB

@@DJMEDIC671 most definitely start with a compression test. That’s a great way to determine where to go. Just make sure to refer to the manual for specs.
