I saw spoon in Texas around this time with Guided by Voices and it was a blast. A few years later I went to Chicago to see them headline, and again they were amazing. I'm always in awe at these bands that have dozens of great songs and so many people have never heard of them. Jonathan Fisk, Lines in the Suit, Fitted Shirt...just a few songs that the mainstream bands wish they could write. Britt Daniel for life!
@@BugMill I'm sure they played together several times during that hazy period. The only other time in my memory was at (the formerly) Waterloo Park outside on a big stage during SXSW '99.
@thaddday well I only drove from Ohio to Texas once to see them and I know it was after Y2K and before 9/11, lol...seems like it might have been in Dallas, too, but I'm not sure. Also seems like the venue had 2 playing rooms and another band was playing in the 2nd room but I could be thinking of something else.
@@BugMill Well, both Stubbs in Austin and The Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas have smaller rooms. I was at both. Filmed both. The dots will connect some day for ya!

big spoon fan right here; seen 'em too many times to count. first spoon show in 2004 or 2005 at stubb's in austin. the clientele opened for them. love both bands. thank you for unearthing this gem.
@@thaddday I always wished I'd seen Spoon back in 2001 (my first show was also 2004, NYC also with the clientele?), thanks for sharing this amazing show!
Their evolution starting with Telephono, Series of Sneaks and Kill the Moonlight and into the later 2000's-present is awesome. Sound so familiar but still unique. Great song writing and extremely talented individual band members - in the studio and playing live - is what they're all about and it really shows.
That night in Dallas was the night I was hooked as well. Went to Good Records and got everything to that point. I've seen them everywhere since including my birthday (40) flew from Mpls to Dallas drove to Austin for LOW, Dale Watson and SPOON at Stubbs... Bucket lister.

They opened for GBV at this show. There's a 20min clip of GBV from this night on my channel. Thanks for watching!
@thaddday tbh this might be the one I was at. Unfortunately I used to drink so much I don't remember a lot of the finer details between 1993 and 2003.

Global audience! Mexico, Japan, Poland! Thanks for watching everyone!
I saw them open for GBV in dallas either just before or after this show and I was hooked! I've seen them all over the planet and they always kill it.
Thanks for watching! The Dallas show was the night before (4.13.2001). Might decide to cut and post that show, too! Stay tuned!
@@thaddday please do! I was there front row and it is still one of the best and loudest shows I’ve even seen. Spoon and GBV were incredible.
