A couple of minutes with the Moon on March 11th, 2024. The motion of the Moon is due to my crappy tripod head that does not lock. But the Moon does move while we remain stationary...too much? Shot with a P-900. No audio.

A super intimate set on the back of a tailgate. It was the summer of 2001 and Charlie was in Snyder, TX, working on the movie "Grand Champion" directed by his longtime friend, Barry Tubb. The days were long, but the nights were almost as long thanks to the camaraderie of filmmaking and the friendships made on that film. Charlie treated us to a few songs one night. Yes...that is a Takamine acous...

Morning Moon (April 6, 2023)
มุมมอง 58ปีที่แล้ว
Everyone was talking about the Moon as it was rising yesterday. What about the Moon setting this morning? Or just fading away like the Sun does? I looked out my window and saw the morning Moon low in the sky, reflecting on the river. I ran outside (30 degrees) with my P900 to try to catch it before it was gone. I was really fighting naked branches to be able to focus properly, but I managed to ...

Was St Vincent in the Spree at this point? I think she joined soon after this.
Not yet. Full band listed in awesome end credit sequence!
SHOEGAZE FOREVER !!!! ThANX !
I saw spoon in Texas around this time with Guided by Voices and it was a blast. A few years later I went to Chicago to see them headline, and again they were amazing. I'm always in awe at these bands that have dozens of great songs and so many people have never heard of them. Jonathan Fisk, Lines in the Suit, Fitted Shirt...just a few songs that the mainstream bands wish they could write. Britt Daniel for life!
They opened for GBV at this show. There's a 20min clip of GBV from this night on my channel. Thanks for watching!
@thaddday tbh this might be the one I was at. Unfortunately I used to drink so much I don't remember a lot of the finer details between 1993 and 2003.
@@BugMill I'm sure they played together several times during that hazy period. The only other time in my memory was at (the formerly) Waterloo Park outside on a big stage during SXSW '99.
@thaddday well I only drove from Ohio to Texas once to see them and I know it was after Y2K and before 9/11, lol...seems like it might have been in Dallas, too, but I'm not sure. Also seems like the venue had 2 playing rooms and another band was playing in the 2nd room but I could be thinking of something else.
@@BugMill Well, both Stubbs in Austin and The Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas have smaller rooms. I was at both. Filmed both. The dots will connect some day for ya!
Gotdammitsomuch, the In Fiction We Trust channel is gone! 😿
Yeah. It's a bummer. He just stopped streaming/making content. I know his frustration was growing about the effort vs. the response not meeting each other in a way he deserved. It's a tough subject to continually speak about for only a handful of people. He was one of the OGs and I miss him very much.
This is how you know mainstream is total Crap!!!! How could they miss this band!! Unreal!!
Dude, Coldplay and Maroon 5, tho! 🤣
Is he alive, and has anyone noticed this clip is wiped from all brevard county sources and videos?
Alive and well. He's here on the Twitters: x.com/JustinWeRchange
I hope this never gets taken down
No plans of that.
Brave Man! Bring it out!
Listening and drilling ahead in Loving County right now.
rippin
im still dig this, oh yeah
What a badass upload. Didn’t think I’d find a live set after all these years. Thanks
Thanks! They were such a great band.
why havent youtube showed me this before? wtf
Thank you for sharing this gem!
Nutcase
So good ❤
why only 3 thousan views
I don’t think mine is the only or original source. He just did another one last week.
@@thaddday yeh thats wat i thought this was until i watched it
I recall seeing them around this time in DC at the Black Cat, mid 2002ish, not very many people there, and then Zen Gurilla played afterward. I guess some shows/places are a hit or miss. Oh well... wish I could go back to those days.
Top tier old spoon
Thank you Jesus for Charlie 🙏🏻
That looks like a solar eclipse
Justin Harvey is one of the bravest man alive for calling these fraudulent b*#@!*^(!! out! Being trapped in this matrix is discouraging but people like Justin gives us hope one day we will be free! Stay safe Justin!
Oh shit! I'm actually in the video for a few seconds!
I. WAS. THERE. Only time I saw them in concert, while I was a college young'un. My friends and I drove into Austin from College Station, about an hour and a half away. 2024 and it's still the single most enjoyable show I've ever been to.
Number One! Thanks for watching!
Man, this cat sounds like the fruit of Rob Tyner's loins.
the nut jobs are getting bold
RIP. My friend
Thanks for watching! Any relation to Bobby? I used to occasionally work with him on movie/tv stuff in Austin.
Nice catch 👊
Hey Rob! Hope all is well. Odd how the Sun can shoot that laser beam of light to just that part of our Moon from 93 million miles away!
@thaddday I'm doing well and you are exactly 💯 correct 👍
Just want to know if the person who posted this is the original videographer and documentarian..
Yo. Yes. Thanks for watching!
its so awesome to see how much of a kid he was when he was just starting out. what a guy he is.
15 years is a long time!
@@thaddday hahaha, yeah man. crazy to think i was a toddler when this video was taken. wish i were there instead of learning how to function, ugh.
@@nosymbiosisI was in middle school during the early social media/smartphone era Tech takeover.
Nice! I'm still loving the videos/songs that you're putting out.
I do not understand how that guy has only aged ~2 years in the past 20+. Thanks for sharing this!
Not talking about tomorrow tomorrow may never come. Not talking about yesterday yesterday is gone
Saw them circa this time in Madrid, on their first lp tour, they played at El Sol in downtown Madrid. I May have a few photos of the show somewhere. What a kick ass show. I remember having a festival drinks with the band after the show in long lost Freaksbar in malasaña. I have Just came across this vid after some MC5 1970 detroit concert i saw. God bless TMS.
This was filmed the year I was born lol. I grew up hearing Charlie and all those great Texas bands. I luckily got to see him last year. Rip
Hilarious...does he tour?
Weird people add but don’t put subtitles.
Only recently discovered that the maverick St. Vincent started off her music career as part of this crazy bunch! She's in the line up here somewhere! Anybody spot her?
She was not a part of this lineup from 2003. Credits at the very end list everyone. Thanks for watching!
amazing, they sound just as good live if not better!
That mental health stuff got me rolling 😂
You want a big wood in your mouth
You have any links to any bootlegs or recordings? I love beulah - even went to castle clinton to see their farewell show :(
omg thank you so much for this thaddday!!! and what fucking quality!! so many of my favorite spoon chunes
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
😅 I suppose the Russians are in on it too! 😂 Imagine that NASA not only cooperating with the Russians, who they’re trying so hard to defeat in Ukraine, not just for rides to the International Space Station, but that it even exists. 😅 The Japanese and who else is in on the Gigantic Conspiracy!😅
Everyone. Space is fake.
What's the opening track? - Was it ever recorded/released?
This is golden, I miss old emos
Jim is amazing
This is what happens when undereducated/unintelligent people don't understand science. To hear one loser, who believes other idiots on TH-cam, then thinks he knows more than hundreds of thousands of truly educated and/or intelligent scientists, try to "school" others would be laughable if it were not so sad.
Humorously enough, I watched this entire video hoping to see a quality live version of Uber Legitimate, which is my all-time favorite Mates of State song, only to hear the original piano version play out the credits. I've seen MoS live three times over the years, in 2004 in Minneapolis, 2009 in Chicago, and 2013 in St. Paul, but have yet to ever actually get to see Uber Legitimate live. I was also supposed to see them in 2003 in Omaha, but that road trip got canceled due to snow. Maybe in an alternate dimension I saw it live there. I even used the piano version at my wedding, but we eventually split up. However, not even that can sour me on the song! If you have any good video of a live performance of the song, hit me up!
Sorry to disappoint. I don't remember ever shooting them perform that song. I hope someday you find it! Thanks for watching!
This is awesome!!! Thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Damn....
