2:39 Quick tip. When cutting off excess shielding (with scirrors or scalpel or whatever you choose), painter tape the surrounding body area just in case your hand slips and digs into the body. Be it a pet, a knock on the door or any kind of factor that could unsteady your hand. It is the front side of the body after all. Covered by hardware or not. If its for personal use, not the end of the world…but if it was for a client or maybe for a friend…its still a good practice. Just my $0.02
@ For sure! That was not a knock by any means and i hope it didnt come off that way. You def know your stuff. Take pride in that. I am many moons into my career and would have killed for something like this back in my journey instead of just experimenting and getting it wrong (which i did more times than i care to admit). You got something here. This is a great resource for anybody on any level, so kudos! Love your channel and keep up the content! Cheers.
@@MichaelSpann-bi1ki I didn't take it like that at all! I always appreciate helpful suggestions! I have a ton of fun learning, by building instruments and find that some things can be really helpful in other situations! Thank you for the really nice words! I really do appreciate them!
Thank you! Yeah, building partscasters is super fun! I've built about 3 now and have some more to work on soon. You should definitely try it when you can, I think it's really helpful to understand more about the instrument and also it is pretty rewarding! (and cheaper!)
I actually sourced the parts myself, if you want to know the specific links you can email me at: liamgivenmusic@gmail.com For the build, I used: Fender Telecaster Ice Blue Metallic Body Custom roasted maple tele neck from HooDoo Guitar Fender Ultra Vintage Noiseless Tele Pickups Gotoh Tele Bridge 6 Saddle Custom wiring harness I made using: CTS pots, Orange drop capacitor, gotoh tele control plate, puretone output jack. Hope this is helpful!
Quick question: is the neck plate mandatory? I'm currently in the process of ordering all the materials to build my own partcaster, the body I've chosen is a Warmoth body with contoured heel, and I don't think a neckplate would look good, but I'm not sure if it could create problems.
Yes, it is, most of the time. The caveat is, if you have recesses around the 4 screws on the body then you can use washers, but if it comes the standard way, then you need a neckplate. I belive with the contour you ordered, the neckplate would just be angled. I think warmoth only does the recessed/washer way on their gecko basses. Hope this helps!
@@liamx9x That's tremendously helpful, thanks a lot! It's my first project and there are a lot of things that might seem obivous to people with experience, but are still a huge question mark for me. I'm looking forward to start this project, but to be honest I'm afraid I'll end up with a futuristic sculpture masterpiece on my desk instead of a guitar lol.

Yeah... so when I was wiring it, the grounding screw that is in the control cavity was just about half a millimeter too long for the thickness of the body and it went through the back. 🥲 I made a short about it here th-cam.com/users/shortsn-qbUPLTgxY Thanks for asking though!

Good idea for sure! Thank you for the tip! Definitely a smart idea especially if it's being built for a client or anything!
Thanks! 😁

Where do you buy one of these kits?
I actually sourced the parts myself, if you want to know the specific links you can email me at: liamgivenmusic@gmail.com

Custom roasted maple tele neck from HooDoo Guitar
Fender Ultra Vintage Noiseless Tele Pickups
Gotoh Tele Bridge 6 Saddle
Custom wiring harness I made using: CTS pots, Orange drop capacitor, gotoh tele control plate, puretone output jack.

Looks nice, but would have liked to see it be played a bit after watching it all be put together. But looks great.
For sure, I put together a video solely as a sound demo, but I am having some trouble uploading it! Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have it up!

11:22 - what is wrong with the tape? are you accidentally drill the body?

Where did you buy the parts?
All across a site called reverb! Some are fender liscened parts along with gotoh hardware and cts pots + switchcraft switch for the wiring!
this is called assembling not building.
anyway, congrats for the new guitar.
Where does the neck come from ?
I got it from a company called "HooDoo Guitar" out of Texas! Truly amazing for the money!
