    I have terrible chest, arm and back pain but my EKG and chest X-ray came back normal. It’s been going on for four years. I used to run 15 miles a day and now I can barely walk one without feeling Winded.
    Each time I got to the hospital they tell me everything looks okay so I just feel like it’s useless to go anywhere.

    Ok so these are the things that really get my anxiety up. Her ekg came
    Back fine, but then the ultrasound showed a completely different outcome. This scares me. I need to know if she had lifestyle factors that contributed to a 100% blockage.. surely you don’t get a full blockage by living a healthy lifestyle.

    It seems that EKG's are useless in terms of diagnosing heart attacks, so why are they still used for this purpose?

    • @TheMosaicLifeCare
      @TheMosaicLifeCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for your comment. EKG's only give a snapshot at an instant. Heart attacks can take a while to show in an EKG. So to diagnose one, doctors rely on many tests in addition to listening to the patient’s history. Putting it all together is part of the art of medicine. At the end of the day, EKG's are one of many tools we use to provide the best possible care to cardiac patients.

    • @corallaroc
      @corallaroc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      But is it the 'best possible care' if someone has an EKG which doesn't register any issue and the person is sent away, only to die later?

    • @TheMosaicLifeCare
      @TheMosaicLifeCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We rely on more than an EKG test to properly detect and treat possible heart attacks. Unfortunately, there's not one truly perfect test currently. We would definitely encourage you to talk to your specific primary care provider, however, if you have further questions. Hope that helps, and thank you for your comments.

    • @corallaroc
      @corallaroc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. I'm referring to the many video's I've watched on here on heart attacks where people have said they were in the middle of a heart attack and the EKG didn't show this. They were then sent away. My EKG actually came back borderline so I am being sent for an echocardiogram.

      They are tough to interpret and medical personnel can frequently miss subtle signs. Google "Dr Smith's ECG Blog" and they go over how complicated examples can be. Waiting for troponin levels can be too late, the damage is done. A good ECG reader can be a life-saver.

    Almost everything you said happened to me. 1 month ago. All I was doing was watching tv and just felt weird and like you I googled symptoms and was shocked that what I was reading, I didn’t actually feel anything in my chest, it was everywhere else from the chest up, back of my arms, head ache, jaw pain and a radiating feeling… cold sweats and fatigue. I had two blockages 1 97% (widow maker) and the other 100% had two stents placed during angioplasty. Haven’t felt exactly perfect, but I am getting there. I have started a new job though and i seem ok at work.

      Dude I've felt like this three times and they've sent me back home from ER saying that I'm ok and that nothing showed up in the analysis. They've appointed me to a cardiologist but for now I don't know what to think. So far I've had heart palpitations, my back between the shoulders blades with a tingling sensation, chest discomfort, cold sweat, breathlessness, and sensation that I'm gonna faint. Maybe I'm just going crazy.

    I had jaw pain in the gym. I finished my workout and went home and the pain subsided after I took a pain killer. Fastforward 6 months later, went for a routine checkup and they told me I must have had multiple attacks over the span of the last year. 100% block on one artery and 90% on another. Its all stented now. Point being, the pain was weird when it came, but I convinced myself that I was super fit and it cannot be heart attack. Dont make that mistake. I think ECG test costs so less, and its a life saver.
