Hello I want to give you some more information about who are actually the oldest buildings in Berat. 1. One of the oldest It's the Castle of Berat, just above that Mosque in top of the hill. 2. The Churches in same hill above that Mosque and inside the Castle.
sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Christian Oliver Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I m from Croatia, and Albanians are the best for hospitality,I believe you heard from MonteNegro that is dangerous there, because lot of Serbs live in Monte Negro, and politics between Serbs and Albanians are on low level.Low rate orthodox people live in Albania and because of Kosovo, you can say Albanians and Serbs hate each other.Albanians got 3 religion in 1 country and live in peace,Serbs are more weird, serbs = Ortrodox ,they make equal that just orthodox religion can be Serb. That is short story why Serbs were in War with 4 of 6 neighbors.Im atheist so this is from my neutral position to say what was going on this place of balkans. Also Serbia with politics are more oriented to Russia, but Croatia,Bosnia and Herzegovina,Slovenia,Albania,Kosovo,Macedonia to EU and western countries.Love you videos.
The bad reputation of Albania is a legend nowadays. It’s a lot safer in Albania than most of Europe. Some of our neighboring countries still talk bad about Albania and the worst thing is that they do it on purpose. Anyway thanks for the kind words and wish you all the best. 👋👋👋
Hi guys !! It's me again..💥🤣💥 I would like to send my warmest thanks to you and to the people of Berat !! Once, I visited Boston and an albanian taxidriver helped me a lot ; I will never forget him!! Because of your wonderful video, I understand now why he was so kind !! My best greetings from Morocco. 🌿🌹🌿
What a coincidence bro..im Albanian and visited Morocco 2 years ago..i was feeling like my home..the people there was so kind and warm..just like in my countriy..also i have moroccan friends..you are so funny bro..i really like your jokes and sense of humour..i Love Morocco and Moroccans
My native country is the best and its people are just wonderful. This is a country where legends and prehistory marry beautifully with the gorgeous seaside, mountains and wonderful culinary. Miss it all so much, 21 years away from it in the UK now. Love UK but there is something special about Albania that is with us Albanians for ever.
@@WorldTowning ur always welcomed idk if u have heard but the most famous Book of Albanians named Kanun , on which are writed 500 Years ago the Rules of Albanians on this book says - Albanian House belong to the GOD and the Guests or Travellers ( and here is writed an Albanian have moral obligation to eat 50-50 what he have with the guest )
Haven't had much time to watch vlogs lately, but I'm sitting on an 11 hr bus in Thailand. We LOVED Albania last year. It's the #1 country we visited briefly, but want to get back to see more. We found the people in Serbia equally hospitable. Love the Balkans!!
In Albanian there is a saying: First, the house belongs to God and the guest. Then, it belongs to the owner. Thank you! Loved to see you in mother Albania.
It’s a privilege to have guests and they should be 100% happy in our homes ! Albania love family and tradition , and a guest is a friend , we say “me tpyet kush se çka Asht jeta miq e shoke ajo Asht kuleta” so “if smb ask you what is considered like wealth , friends and guests that’s the real richness” , becouse a guest if a part of family when they are already in our homes
Since I travel alot alone and if I was told not to go to a certain country. I would do my own research and use wisdom. Traveling with a family seems more safe then a women traveling alone. I pray for God to keep you and your family safe, he has your back, and your doing a beautiful thing I want to continue seeing the beauty of other countries so keep on, you and yours are in my prayers. Peace
Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts. We have never once been in a situation traveling that we feared for our safety, thankfully. I hope that day never comes. Being robbed was the most violation we ever want to feel.
In 1997 we were in Corfu (Greece) just a mile across the water from Albania. There was the sound of artillery almost constantly and at night we could see tracer fire over in Albania. It's good to see that the country has found peace and settled down. PS. Greeks and Turks are also very hospitable.
Oh gosh, this made me 😢. They have beens through so much and remain so positive. I guess tragedy puts a lot in perspective. In Greece now, totally agree. Turkey in Feb!!!
Brian, so happy to hear that. We are trying to bring more authentic and unique experiences to this vlog. There are so many travel vlog about all the touristy stuff.
Love your family❤️ I so would love to be on your trips. I'm Albanian, born in the US. My first trip ever to Albania was in March 2019. I've Traveled all over Europe, always hesitated to visit Albania. Finally made the effort to visit. Yay! Beautiful place ,with very warm and friendly people. Their hospitality is most humbling. Enjoy guys!
Haha my family used to buy the turkey weeks before Christmas and keep it in our small garden and overfeed it to gain weight for maximum return on investment 😂😂 this took me back. also the guide is exaggerating a little bit when he said that if you just knock and they invite you in , they will ask who you are but basically they wont turn you away if you need food and a place to stay or simply you are a foreigner and curious about us .99% will take u in it doesn’t matter if you’re a total stranger. I remember in a hot summer day in 1995 or 96 some Arabs who had been to visit a near by mosque knocked on our door and my father answered , their translator explained they were curious to visit an Albanian family to see how we live so they knocked at a random door. My invited them in and they stayed for lunch. I remember my dad gave me money to go buy some beer to serve with lunch and their guide promptly stopping me because Arabs don’t drink alcohol 😂

Hi Ajko. The song is called In Our Hands by Sebastian Forslund. It's a great song. I don't repeat songs too much in the episodes, but this is one that I did.
Loving the videos....Heh Jessica, those striped leggings are really holding up!! The hiking in Spain, etc.etc. 😂😱 Love it!! What brand are they? I have my favorite pairs and wear them all the time...Would I go to other countries that people tend to shy away from? YES.... Like you said, there are good people everywhere....Loved Croatia, Slovania, etc. would totally go to Albania.. Our painters are from Albania and they are the nicest, most honest people...
Thanks so much!!! Ha, they have held up so well. Although I am so ready for a new wardrobe, bored with this one. But, I would rather spend my money on adventures instead. Ha. I will need new warm weather clothing for Asia. Woo hoo. The brand is LulaRoe. Love that you would go! Albania was such a good decision!
World Towning I thought they were. I have a pair on myself right now!! I am with you on rather spending money on adventures. With you all the way on that!!
Hello from the Hamner family- we are in Albania right now and looking up info about the area, we saw your vlog for first time. We have a LOT in common with you!!! We are Americans, sold our home in 2014 and have been traveling since then with our daughter who is now 14 AND I just had neck surgery within this past year! We are not vloggers though, even just started facebook page in the last 6 months- Hamners Odyssey. We are considering settling for a few years as our teen wants some roots for a dog of her own...sigh.
We LOVED Albania! Hi, wow, loads of similarities. Where else have you been? Where are you thinking to settle down? Our daughter just turned 15 in July. Isn't it so fun traveling with a teen? We also have a tween and love it. Have you met many other teens?
@@WorldTowning We are in the castle in Berat. Had a wonderful full moon walk last night and got up early and saw the moonset as the sun rose. I feel like we shared that with you as a result of your video. Thanks for replying! We toured the National Parks in the US when our daughter was 4th-5th grade, all the way out to Hawaii. Have been to Costa Rica and France to check out places learned about through International Living, and been to Wales and Poland and Germany to check out where ancestors came from. Missed Denmark and Ireland this summer through change of plans with hosts, but that took us to Switzerland, Italy and Croatia. Next is Portugal to check out what we have heard about retiring there, before going to Connecticut where we have taken a caretaking position. I struggled to let the opportunity go and struggled to let go of traveling...so we accepted the role and will try it out for a month and see how it fits. Our teen is low energy, late sleeper, and growing less interested in travel, and we have always aimed to be a team, so we are listening to her requests, knowing these travels have shaped her in ways like confidence to ride a bike alone from the house to the village, learning language phrases at least to communicate simply. We had her visit a school this summer with a neighbor tween and got to speak in a few classes where they had just studied about the American teenager! But for the most part she has had a void of teen encounters. How do yours stay connected with peers?
Congrats on 10K subscribers! You guys are so amazing. I can't say enough about the quality of the video editing for one thing. You are a very talented man, Will. But the editing would mean nothing if you guys didn't do such danged cool stuff! How brilliant to meet with the locals, cook with them, talk with them, live with them. It makes everything you do so rich. As for the question of the day. I plan to tour Europe by RV, but will be solo. I think it makes sense to be a bit more cautious. However, I think there are ways to do anything as a solo female. First, I will be attending World Towning U before I start (it may be a while from now.) Second, I might connect with a group of people if I plan to go somewhere with safety concerns. There are ways to overcome anything. Can't wait to see more from you. I also can't wait until you guys become a U-tube phenomenon. I'll be able to say, "yeah, I started watching them when they were just starting."
Thanks! Will has worked so hard to be a great editor and tell our story authentically. I will give him a high five for you. We live in an RV (as you know) so I can do it without leaving my seat. 😉 As for touring alone as a female, there are a lot of solo travelers, men and women. You will do great and everyone is incredibly friendly. Tonight at our campground is a community dinner. We are in the south of Greece, no tourism and many people have been here for weeks so we meet up every Friday night. So cool! Also, many people caravan. We saw a bunch of folks doing it in Morocco. This is not to say Morocco is unsafe, we love it, but others who have never been want to feel comfortable doing the crossing. Yes, you are welcome to join our class. We offer it in the fall (sept) and winter (jan) for 10 weeks whenever you are ready. Ha! The happiest part of what we do is when people sub because they believe in our mission of sharing the world and its people with those who want to travel in the future or those who cannot. And if that means phenomenon, well, then we won't object to that either. 😜 Thanks again for your support. You will love RVing Europe.
We had an Albanian family running a diner type restaurant in town. They weren’t very friendly. They were hard on the wait staff too. They didn’t last a year with the restaurant. But happy to see you had a wonderful time!! If ppl told me not to visit somewhere, I probably would not. Happy it worked out for you. Looking forward to your next video.
There is no excuse for treating other humans poorly, but after visiting most of the former Yugoslavia countries I have sympathy to what they have been through. Not an excuse for bad behavior to an employee, just recognition for how hard some people have it. We are so lucky to have our American passport and not experienced such struggles. As a side note to listening what others say about a place. We do have a couple of tight travel friends who I would listen to as they know our travel style and level of hardcoreness. 😉Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Madeline.
Sketchy Zero I’m not judging all ppl. Sorry you thought that. Just this one person. Being a frequent visitor to the restaurant and knowing the wait staff as they were part of the previous owner, I know the hardship they faced. And actually one waitress is a friend and an Albanian, she too was stressed.
Thank you! 😃 We really felt welcome in Albania. Albania is one of the countries that we want to return to. We did not see enough there. All the best and please stay safe.
I’ve followed your family on Instagram but this was the first TH-cam video I’ve seen. Well done! I really enjoyed the story, facts, music, editing. Sure makes me want to watch all of your videos. I feel like I got a real feel for your experience.
Awh, thanks Kristen. So happy to hear you jumped over to this platform. Welcome! We are gearing up for even more cool stuff on the vlog on 2019! Our work of the year is OWN IT! Bam. 😉

I saw the vlog in Brussels where you got robbed - sorry to see that but I am totally shocked and would never expect that in Brussels. Here you are in a third world country and being treated like royals. Its amazing to see the heart the Albanians have.
Beautiful Albania excellent of paradise the nightingale of paradise is hidden behind the beauty and the golden bird 🌹🦢🌹my mind is looking for feelings her wonderful images 🥀❤️and illusions everywhere and excited to sense her presence the princess 🥀🤴🥀of heavenly voices 🌹Selma bekteshi 🌹❤️❤️❤️🤴🌹🌹🌹🦢💜💜💜
Berat is called "Qyteti i Nje mbi nje dritareve" which is literally translated "the town of 1 on top of 1 windows".But "Nje(1) mbi nje" sounds like "nje mi(mije/thousand) nje" "1001" . Hence the confusion.
Stereotypes that's what they do. They tend to change peoples minds about our beautiful and welcoming Country Albania. Thank you for visiting my country and finding the real truth yourselves rather than listening to fool mouthed people. Proud to be one of them , Proud to be Albanian.
We had a great trip. We went to the Ouzoud Falls, Essaouira and toured around Marrakech Souks/Medina it was amazing. We have been vlogging our trips for 5 years and loved exploring new places ♥️
Albanian kitchen cuisine or menu food is one of the richest in the world and all are very old traditional, till to this day, is one of the best in the world as healthy food, plus there are many sweets.
I heard like back in the day around here if someone had a red door than that was like an invite to come by no matter who u are. Now a red door is like danger
I know albanian, I can say a full sentence without google translate, here you go. une jam nga shqiprea. that means "I am from albania" I can make longer sentences if you want!
Found the same thing when visiting Montenegro. Love the people there; so very, hospitable! I've had a lot of people tell me not to go places, especially when traveling on my own. It has not stopped me. Just be cautious and have a care about what you might be getting yourself into. There's too much to explore to have those 'no's' keep me at bay. :) BTW... first time to respond. Love your videos.
People say to not go to alot of places. I heard Germany's jacked and France is on fire. India was supposed to be decent and stuffs bad there. It's bad everywhere. Gotta kinda keep an eye around your surroundings. I wouldn't even go on a hike by myself anywhere cause if something happens it's gonna suck. I heard and believe a few places u should definitely not go.
They are open to frank conversation, welcome strangers into their home, share food/alcohol/other goods with visitors when they make significantly less than other European countries and are non-judgemental. We also ran into Albanians in Macedonia and Greece and this appears to be a trait of Albanians in general. We were only in the country for 1 week and this is based on the Albanians we interacted with in several countries.
@@WorldTowning Yes but you do have to realize that when it comes to religion , there is a very big divergence between the albanians living in albania and those living outside albania ( as minority in macedonia or as ethnic albanians in kosovo ). Albania having been multireligious experiencing an atheist regime and opening up by the millions to europe which is continued by the millions coming as tourists from all over the world has a substantially more different religious composition - namely the vast majority are flirting with agnosticism with christianity gaining much much ground despite the turkish funded and arabic funded mosque bulding , buildings that remain just empty) . So next time , when in albania do not ignore the churches if you are going to show the mosques. You truly have no idea of the religious demography of albania ..... for whatever it is worth from a person that has spent countless of hours studying them.
the best thing in albania is to seperate religion from politics me in Croatia I,am atheist but you can be everything you want, chatolic, orthotox, agnostic, etc.religion newer define who you are ina nationality,in all balkan countries albanians working on the best way, like germany, usa, religion dont define you what is your nationality.in croatia you can be croat like me and muslim, bhudist, orthodox, atheist.
World Towning You should visit the beaches in the south in the summer. Your kids will love it. More exiting for them. Take them to Syri i Kalter “ Blu Eye “ as well. Super clear waters.
Berat is more than 2500 years old. So no the mosque is not the oldest building standing . The Illyrian castle of Berat is more than 2500 year, so that is standing still , plus the houses inside the castle are ancient , the mosque is only 2-300 years. But thanks anyway
If you would like to know more about this great experience we had, check out the following links. www.vato.al and www.beratcitytours.com

Long live Albania Rrofte Shqiperia 🇦🇱❤️
My beautiful Albania 😍
As for touring alone as a female, there are a lot of solo travelers, men and women.
Thanks again for your support.
Nice lovely family wishing you all the best and thanks for the visit in my country
Bam. 😉
You should binge watch them all. This family is amazing!
Oh Albania, how much I miss you.
Beautiful family
And amazing city
All the best to you live!
Thank you very much! All the best and please stay safe. 😊
Hello
I want to give you some more information about who are actually the oldest buildings in Berat.
1. One of the oldest It's the Castle of Berat, just above that Mosque in top of the hill.
2. The Churches in same hill above that Mosque and inside the Castle.
We did visit the castle. It is absolutely beautiful. That is where we stayed the night.
Looks lovely, looks a lot like Old Nessebar in Bulgaria if you've not been Bulgaria I definitely recommend a visit
We did go, but the visit was way too short. Time to go back.
Lovely people
I saw the vlog in Brussels where you got robbed - sorry to see that but I am totally shocked and would never expect that in Brussels. Here you are in a third world country and being treated like royals. Its amazing to see the heart the Albanians have.
The Albanians are the most hospitable country we have visited. We cannot wait to go back. Yes, getting robbed really sucked.
Ddog T Sorry to disappoint you but Albania is not a third world country
Serxhio Kushta sorry i have been misinformed.
On your way getting to 10k! Count us in!
Thanks guys, we really appreciate it.
We did that same border crossing today! Didn't make it as far as Berat but I think we will try to go next after our week in Durres.
How cold is it there? It was freezing when we were there in nid-December. I could not imagine what it is like now. Stay warm.
@@WorldTowning actually it was almost warm today. On the drive down it read 58 outside the van! But rain starts tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.
Rain tomorrow. Ugh. Probably heading this way as well. Oh well...
@@WorldTowning where are you guys?
southern Greece!
Do your own research wherever you go. There is good and bad,
ups and downs everywhere. Best
to travel or live with an open mind
I reckon.

Ok guys we movin to Albania now
Very cool video :). Proud to be an albanian :)
You should be. Amazing country with fabulous people. Thanks!
👏👏Thanks
You're welcome 😊
When iaas little i used to live in albania,Tirana
Really? We worked all of our time in Tirana, but glad we got to Berat. Do you go back for visits?
1:50 Ulqin ALBANIA, true story !!!!
Welcomed again :)
Thanks so much. All the best and please stay safe.
Well, for us we knew nothing about Albania, stereotypes included and we loved it. A country we definitely want to revisit one day. Lovely people.
That Mosque is not the oldest building definetly not. That was built after Ottoman invasion about 300 years old.
Tha afersisht 1400 qe eshte e sakte....
loving the vlogs keep up the great work we got lots of good info on our trip to morocco from you guys. :)
Thanks! So great our vlogs were helpful for your Morocco trip. What was the favorite experience you had?
We had a great trip. We went to the Ouzoud Falls, Essaouira and toured around Marrakech Souks/Medina it was amazing. We have been vlogging our trips for 5 years and loved exploring new places ♥️
That is what Servas.org provides: hosting and traveling! it is aan wesome concept!
We are in the process of beginning to work with them. Can't wait.
Great ❤️🇦🇱
Thanks for watching!
Albanian kitchen cuisine or menu food is one of the richest in the world and all are very old traditional, till to this day, is one of the best in the world as healthy food, plus there are many sweets.
We really miss Albania
I heard like back in the day around here if someone had a red door than that was like an invite to come by no matter who u are. Now a red door is like danger
Interesting. I think the red door should be a global policy of peace and help. I would paint Lemonade's door red!
My door is red, and I love it, and I’m not danger😂
Wow! I want to do the same!
I know albanian, I can say a full sentence without google translate, here you go. une jam nga shqiprea. that means "I am from albania" I can make longer sentences if you want!
Love it!
Just a Floating Eye spelled Shqipëria wrong,😊
Well done. We can always learn more that is the beauty of it.
Wolcom to my homeland ❤️
Love Albania!!!
I subscribe to and a lot of my friends. Love from Kosovo ❤️
I love Albania

Come to Australia Sydney there is more Albanian people there like me
In 2020!
BTW... first time to respond. Love your videos.
Hi Kelly! Welcome as a first time responder. 😘Love your attitude and not being stopped by what others say. Good job! You are a WorldTowner for sure!
shhh..albania europes best kept secret 🇦🇱❤
I completely agree.
Ckemi une jam viani the vi nga shqiperia (hello I am vian and I come from Albania)
HI vian!
Ckemi (hi)
People say to not go to alot of places. I heard Germany's jacked and France is on fire. India was supposed to be decent and stuffs bad there. It's bad everywhere. Gotta kinda keep an eye around your surroundings. I wouldn't even go on a hike by myself anywhere cause if something happens it's gonna suck. I heard and believe a few places u should definitely not go.
We love India! And we have been told to not go so much. I can't wait to get back. France has cheese!!!😉
What differentiate Albanians from other people that makes you think they are the most hospitable
World Towning Go Go Kosovo
But Morocco is not a secular estate but Still Moroccans are among the most hospitable people around the world
Politic is ugly but people are awesome
Greetings from Spain
🇦🇱❤️
😍
you know why albanian are so friendly, because the people of Albania never, never have atack another nation, but many nations has attack the albanian
Love Albania and Albanians. Can't wait to go back one day.
Evisa Bogdani I tell you why. Coz they’re paid by Greeks to hide it. Fatkeqsisht 😢😣😡😡
Hi from clewater fl i was born in that sity have nice vacation in albania
Loved Albania. Will go back one day for sure.
Is truth Berat citty have more on 1000 windows
Love it
ulcini is in Montenegro but its ight
Sorry, I do not understand?
you wrote Ulcini, Albania but Ulcini is actually in Montenegro
and its also spelled "ulcinj"
Ulcini osht i shqiptarve..kshtuqe mire e ka :p
Evelina Kukaj
Ulcini gjithmon ka kjan Shqypni !
dhe ka për'tkjan !
Berat was named Berat in honor of Belgrade in Serbia but serbs are not even thankful for it
I dont know what it is, but this family, the US not rhe Albanians seem off.
Couldn't watch past the turkey conversation!
Really? There is a reason for the turkeys, which we explain later. Give it another shot.
@@WorldTowning I will try!
I've watched it now. I'm with Avalon x
