John is a tireless, persistently forward-thinking warrior whose influence is impossible to quantify. The band that he founded and leads - Osees (Thee Oh Sees) - is one whose influence is equally impossible to quantify.
He defines experimentation.
…..Hurtling, bruising, brooding, hypnotic, phalanx of double drummers, muscular, veins of gold through granite, shifting ground, heavy, lush, stately, groovy, roar, whisper, fuzz fried...
And my favourite….
….Cauldron of chaos
These are John and Matt's notes of the Osees' albums Orc and Mutilator….pretty accurate huh?
Thank you John, this was a blast!

I Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is a music podcast that does music interviews differently.
I'm Giles Sibbald and I'm talking to extraordinary musicians, DJ’s and producers about how they use an experimental mindset in their lives to amplify their own creativity, pursue new challenges, overcome fears and bounce back from mistakes.

I'm obsessed with John Dwyer's music
And he quoted norm!!!
Thank you, I 'discovered' Osees when a thumbnail on the right of a video of something I was watching on here caught my attention.
That was a couple of months ago.
My ears and my mind were blown. It's been so, so long since I found anything 'new' to listen to, and since then have been devouring the entire back catalogue.
I'm now also working my way through all of your other ones, having nearly died of joy when I saw you had a conversation with Zia McCabe.
Your conversations are excellent, super chilled, insightful and desperately underexposed (I hesiate to call them 'interviews', that sounds a bit too dry)
Going to listen to every artist on your interviews, because I feel like I just hit a fresh phase of discovering awesome music.
Got a ticket for Osees gig in Edinburgh in November, and I am buzzing, cannot wait! DIG IN
Thank you so much for your extremely kind and generous words. I really, really appreciate them. I have been fortunate to have been able to chat to some amazing artists and I’m building a fascinating picture of individuality, uniqueness and identities. It’s totally absorbing listening to them. I’ve got some more really excellent artists coming up too.
John is an absolute diamond. I couldn’t believe it when he agreed to do it. He’s a phenomenal human. The Osees catalogue is really something to treasure. I’m glad you found them and are enjoying them.
John seems like such a great person. If I was the kind of person that had friends I’d want to be friends with him.
