a high pain tolerance means that you need less anesthetic, not more. High pain tolerance means things that are very painful to most people are only somewhat painful to you.
My daughter is an auburn redhead and so is her son. She has brown eyes and tans kind of bronze. My dad and two of my brothers had red beards. Genetics is the coolest thing. p.s. my son's daughter is also a red head, Irish ancestry all over the place in Appalachia.
my mothers side of the family is almost all redheads from appalachia. my mother is a blonde but she's the only person I know off from that side that is not red headed with blue eyes.
Hmm, intresting! My dad had black hair with dark red beard, my hair was blondish red, when kid then auburn.. grey now lol...!!!Wow, more intresting is all you guys in this part of comments, are scot,Irish.. of the same background, very Cool!
My mother is a redhead. She had a white streak in front from her mid-thirties, but didn't seriously start going grey until her late sixties. It faded like a whisky and soda; every few years, there was more soda. At 86, there's still some red hanging in. And nothing makes her angrier than someone asking which dye she uses.
As a black man, I find it really crazy that you left out that red-headed people have very sensitive skin, they have the best freckles and also the whitest most purely alabaster glowing skin tones. The women have perfectly formed bodies with an hourglass shape and the men are extremely well hung and have a natural lust for sexuality. I used to think people were joking about gingers but now I think they are just jealous. Gingers should know the truth about their beauty. A flaming red mane and magical green eyes are just amazing. A beautiful contrast is the velvety, almost blue-black skin of certain Africans, that make their eyes sparkle like pools in comparison. As an artist, these striking human beings serve to make all of the rest of us, Asian, Pacific Islanders, European, Hispanic, Indigenous, Aboriginal, African American, etc., look great as well, like flowers in a garden, each has its own beauty, but together we are truly wonderful.
@@Lori79Butterfly To find the beauty within all races does not imply that you find all people beautiful, only that each different race adds to the beauty of the others like a garden of flowers.
My niece had strawberry blonde hair. She married a young man who is from England. He had dark brown hair but his mother was a redhead. They had three daughters. All of them are redheads with eyebrows and eyelashes being very red as well. I am still surprised that all three girls are the same shade of red as well but that all three are redheads. All gorgeous girls. Genetics are amazing.
Honestly i have a thing for gingers, i think the guys with this hair color are the hottest, so any guy watching this with red hair, hi you are genuinely cute c;
I'm a redhead with green (slightly hazel) eyes. Personally I LOVE my red hair. It's my favourite colour of hair. My father was irish and had flaming red hair. Both me and my brother are gingers, bubbly and for the most part, are proud geeks!. Shout to all the gingers out there. Go gingers go! 😁😉
My granddad was a ginger until his mid 20's and then went silver gray. I inherited red highlight in my hair and the red started going silver in high school.
I totally disagree that redheads have thin hair. I am a natural redhead and I have TONS of hair. Everyone who has ever cut my hair has commented on how much hair I have.
It means you have less hair than other hair colours but your hair is a lot thicker. This is only on average and one redhead having a different result isn't an argument to a scientific experiment that found the averages of many redheads hair count.
This answers some things I've wondered about myself. I am strawberry blonde with red facial hair. When I was younger and my facial hair came in I was quite surprised to see that it was red. I've always wondered how this could be. I too am deathly afraid of dentists and require more anaesthetic than what is 'normal'. This has been of occasional issue when a dentist has told me that I should have felt the effects of the medication already and doesn't want to give me more. Knowing that it's at my detriment, I avoid all dental professions at all costs and only when I have been in constant excruciating pain will I then only go to a dentist that offers sedation dentistry.
It's the same with me. They look at you gone out when you tell them. I felt pain when I was put to sleep, so I keep vigilant with oral hygiene and never visit the dentist until needs be.
christina smith Careful now we're like a drug, i have 4 ex's who are now married and they still see me when they can. They all feel guilty but can't get the same sexually satisfaction from someone else.
Why ? I'm ginger and I can't stay under direct sun without burn my skin more that some few minutes. Many redhead need always sunblock cream to protect the skin from sun. If you want to live without problems you need to live in north of Scandinavia or Ireland or Iceland. I'm attracted from blond/white hair and blue/green eyes and very pale skin like mine.
My son was born with strawberry blond hair, and I can still sometimes see a hint of the tint, although his hair now could be described as gold, as it's super close to the colour
I am Mexican, I am not white but do have European ancestry-I am Ginger. My beard is really red and you an tell my hair is red only if I let it grow or else it will just look brownish.
@Lucy Towey You have European ancestry or a legit genetic deformity and thus red hair as a genetic mutation and not red hair as a TRAIT. Mutated red hair that is found in melanated peoples tends to look like a rusty red/orange color.
This makes sense, when I grow my hair out you can see more of an auburn hue to it and my beard is much more auburn than my head hair. I am over 90% British/Scottish and like 6-8% Irish and 2%+ Scandinavian. Thanks AncestryDNA.
Maegan Lewis I’m a ginger too and I have freckles on meh arms and some on face and Ik how u feel I Be feeling ugly and insecure with freckles plus when people be rude or say we have no soul like it’s just a myth.
I have ginger hair and believe me, it sucks! The bullying at school and an interviewer for a job commenting "Oh, he's a ginger!" when I arrived at the interview. Yeah it's a right bowl of laughs being a ginger.
"England, Scotland and Ireland" yeah forget about Wales pal... When the map shows theres a much higher percentage there compared to England. Wales forever forgotten about. Hollol gwarthus
Scotland has the highest proportionate amount of redheads closely followed by Ireland. England actually slips down the proportionate list behind Norway, Wales, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark & Estonia of all places - go figure.
I'm ginger, my daughter's ginger, my husband's side boards are ginger ....... I'm surprised ginger bad tempers weren't listed, but we're a passionate and loyal bunch. I always think gingers have a good sense of humour and are witty having to deal with school bullies as children whose "ginger nut" verbal bullying we had to endure. The good old Celtic response was a fist in the face of the perpetrator or a witty remark like "well at least my hair isn't the same colour as dog shit". #gingerandproud.
One of my high school buddies had darkish red hair, pale green eyes, and enough Cherokee to make her skin permanently tan. I was so freakin jealous, lol! She still has the one of the most striking color combos I've ever seen, genetics are fascinating.
My brother-in-law has brown hair with a ginger beard & my sister has ginger hair. Both their girls (they only have the two girls) are ginger. I don't know whether it's to do with my sister switching back & forth between blonde & ginger for the first few years of her life, but my sister has thick hair & lots of it. She has to either straighten it or put plenty of product on it to keep it under control. I also went to school with a couple of black children who had ginger hair. It's all fascinating.
I have green eyes and red tinted hair, I am of Scandinavian and native American background , also people who are rh negative blood types are more likely to have red hair , green, blue and hazel eyes
I’m a ginger. It’s just weird that we get treated differently. We are supposed to be angry, spiteful and rude. I tried to dye my hair when I was young but gave up because the roots came through so quickly. My hair is like wire, all frizzy and wild. My mum called it a ‘Celtic Thatch’. Its globalisation and the growing numbers of mixed race children being born that is out completing recessive ginger genes. Ginger hair has been prevalent in my family for generations. I have sensitive skin to sunlight and burns, also my green eyes are sensitive to sunlight. I wear sunglasses all year round. My children all have red hair. No one in my family ever went grey. I wish we could be treated as unique rather than a joke.
I'm brunette, my husband is blonde, and we had 2 redheads. We get stopped EVERYWHERE WE GO, and get comments and questions about their hair. The first question is always "where did their red hair come from?!" (While looking between my husband and I). Then I have to go into "both of my grandma's, and his mom, are all redheads." Then they feel the need to talk about their cousins's dads little brother who had red hair too..... Every time we go out anywhere.
My (100% German ancestry) paternal grandpa had VERY red hair (my grandma, his wife, had brown hair), but my dad’s & my brother’s hair has ALWAYS been blonde (my mom’s hair was blonde at birth but changed to brown at age 6). However, MY hair, which is blonde like my dad’s & brother’s, started getting a red tint in my 30's, especially after I wash it.
Yes, I am ginger. Couple guys at work nicknamed me Redbeard. I have a glorious beard and have not shaved since August of 2018. I have no plans to shave my glorious ginger beard. And as to gingers not having souls... I do have one. I drive it everyday.
Glad to hear that there are dating websites for gingers! A hair color that always catches my eye in a crowd and fascinating health adaptations to boot.
@@griff5455 The same could be said for anyone with any eye colour other than brown because we all had brown eyes until around 10,000 years ago. The mutation that caused blue eyes is little more than losing the ability to produce melanin in the iris. That’s like saying incest caused white skin. It didn’t. 😂
I have a great friend who is ginger. I love her so much! She is a woman who would give a man flowers. She is the only woman beside my mom or grandmother's that truly loves me. I wish her the best in life!! She is awesome!!
I love this. There are a few other facts that I'd like to see added to this list, but this is fun. I think the fact that I like the best is that we don't go grey. most in my family start having grey hairs show up around 30. Mine held out ten years longer and so around 40 I had several blonde hairs, not grey, show up then. For once there's something I can trade the rest of my non redhaired family about.
I've always heard that about gingers being rare, or "going extinct." My family has a large number- my mom, 2 of my sisters, 2 uncles 2 aunts, and 4 of my cousins. My youngest niece also looks like she might be a ginger, but it's too early to tell right now. My oldest niece has also insisted since she was 2, that my hair is red. I think it's more brown though. And my mom also likes to brag that a couple of her younger sisters have a few gray hairs already, but she doesn't. Lol
You said the gene for red hair "confers no other qualities than hair color and reaction to sunlight." As you pointed out, however, gingers can also feel more AND less pain. There is evidence to suggest they feel some forms of physical pain less than others (hence the study about anesthesia), yet also feel more pain when it comes to heat and electricity. We can't rule out an evolutionary advantage of either.
Inasmuch as red hair has only been a thing among humans for a few tens of thousands of years, there is barely time for whatever red might lead to to take hold. I imagine it started as a pointless mutation and perhaps has developed into a kind of sexual selection, to judge by the comments. The pain thing might be another mutation that happened on the same chromosome as the red, or it might be a side effect. It hasn't yet proven to be deleterious; it might even be adaptive.
Concerning ginger beards, although I not consider myself to have one, I was surprised to find red hairs in an otherwise mane of black hair the first time I grew out my beard. Research given from a message board taught me what was mentioned in this video. While I have not gone further, learning my paternal great grandmother had red hair, it has had me wondering on the origins of that side of the family.
Had two endoscopies where I wasn't given enough of the 'twilight' anaethesia. Bloody awful. Luckily my next anesthesiologist recognised it as being due to my colouring and made sure to be extra vigilant during the op, and all went well. I was of course, extremely terrified of waking during an actual operation; the endoscopy was bad enough to experience.
My girlfriend is a ginger and I made the perfect nickname for her, ginger, ginger face, ginger face loca head and ginger face loca face ginger head. yeah I know very unique. she’s 5”2’ and has an attitude like she’s 6” tall.
I have red hair. but a red head with dreds would be dreadful I saw a few if your white you should not have dreds black people suit dreds but not white people its pithetic looking it looks as if yous are trying hard for black people to like yous no wonder that black girl didnt reply back lol
5 27 20 Hey Sincerely Rose, Lucky you! Agree, red hair, blue eyes-rare. Now, having green eyes is rarer. I have some friends that have blonde hair, blue eyes & are left handed; 3 recessive genes. I have auburn hair with green eyes. As a child, I always wanted red hair. I thought red hair was so stunning. Stay safe, keep calm, & be well. v
@@virginiatyree6705 fun fact green is in fact a rare eye color you are infact correct. However, in redheads it is not. Especially not for people with strawberry blonde hair. The majority of gingers I've seen either have dark red hair and green eyes with a tint of blue. But if you're talking about non gingers having green eyes is rare.
5 27 20 Hey again@@sincerelyrose3027, Thanks for the update. I find genetics fascinating & just recently found out that green eyes are rare. My grandmother had different colored eyes; one brown & one blue. My mother inherited color-blindness (from her mother, my grandmother) which is rare for a female. My brother's first love in grammar school was a redhead; sweet. We're all special. v
spot on! I have never seen a person with red hair unless it is dyed. Mine's mostly been a golden to copper colour. I can't help but feel little pity for those who refer to colours that aren't red as red. ;) Maybe they see all the different shades as being red.
I have gold red hair, freckles and blue eyes and usually go for dark haired guys. One time I slept with a ginger dude and hated it.... the hair down there matched and I didn't feel special anymore lol. But on a serious note, local anastesia DOES NOT WORK as well it's definitely not a myth. I had to have nine stitches in my hand, and I felt several of them because i needed so much anastetic they couldn't inject any more and I still wasn't numb, and the doctor was so amazed she made me turn my head and poked me to confirm i really could still feel after all those shots. She said she had never seen anything like it
Clayton Paisley omg I experienced everything u just posted about the pain thing. I have ptsd when it comes to the dentist bcuz of it! I’m blue eyes red haired freckles and fair. Every man I dated and my husband has jet black hair. Can’t even look at a redheads guy. Lol. Don’t know why!
I can vouch for the part about anesthesia. Every procedure I have had that required has had to be rushed because it wears off really quickly for me and I need more before it even starts to take effect.
My son is ginger-red haired grandmother and great-grandfather, Celtic-German ancestry. His cousin is also a ginger-same grandmother-but she is Celtic-Pakistani. They look so amazing together!
Watch again. They feel pain differently. Some pain is more intense while other is less. Anecdotally, I can confirm with my ginger child. An ant bite is the end of the world but a face plant on concrete can be soothed with a kiss.

That's because redheaded people aren't all models. They're still people with different appearances to each other and there's nothing wrong with that.
My niece had strawberry blonde hair. She married a young man who is from England. He had dark brown hair but his mother was a redhead. They had three daughters.

Forum and Brim he said, "EVEN IF we assume that the gene confers no other qualities," etc.
Forum and Brim I can feel the temperature go up or down one degree.
