Fell in love wiv this song wen I heard it on a banksy documentary, its so catchy, then heard it agen recently on baby reindeer...i thort it was a new morrisey track wen I 1st heard it... anyone else get morrissey vibes?? ❤❤
As a huge fan of both artists Richard for me is better but being a musician I’m biased I guess. Morrissey writes great lyrics and vocal Melodie’s but he does not play any instruments.
its thanks to the banksy documentary that i got to hear about this fantastic artist have since brought all his cds, the guy is so talented a mixture of so many different styles . a true musician not sure if he writes all his own material but the mans a genius deserves more recognition but probably wont get it ,but im sure he is happy to be where he is ,hope he carries on making great music cant wait for a tour
My dad let me watch that film when I was 4 and it made me say curse words (only the f-bomb). I don’t know why he made me watch that film because he should never had let me, not even a glimpse.
You are sooo right Callie. He is fantastic but probably won’t the recognition he deserves. This song, in particular, has a wonderful mix of an older sound with a new one. Great mixture of styles as you pointed out. Very uplifting! ❤️
Wen I 1st heard it, I thort it was a new morrisey track, cos I get morrisey vibes from it 2,had 2 google it 2 check it out,cos I luv morrisey & luv this track 2..❤❤
Ive heard this song today seems like for the first time... Searched on it and it shows it was made 15 years ago... What else will I find out after another 15 years about whats happening today...
He certainly spanned the decades with this one. It wouldn't sound out of place in the 60's 70's 80's 90's or even today. Testament to his songwriting skills. Well done that man.
Just heard this on Dermot O'leary's show for the first time... and it totally blew me away. I had to download the BBC Sounds app so I could hear Dermot say who the artist was as I didn't catch the name the first time. It immediately creates a joyous but melancholy feel of emotions with those soring strings repeating the refrain all the way through the song. Definitely one for my collection 😍
As I drove home from work yesterday, this came on the radio. I had to stay in the car until it had finished. I have no idea how I allowed myself to forget it, it feels like I have rediscovered it and will not make the same mistake again.
Probably one of the most beautifully composed songs I've heard in a long time and Richards'voice is like chocolate poured over velvet.... Music to my ears...almost brought up a tear... Like KD Lang's version of Crying 😭
He's a fine man ,first time I saw him.was a fundraiser for the Childrens Hospital in Sheffield, terrifyingly 22 years ago. There's a couple of stunners on the new ablum too, he's on a hell of a roll. The new favs.Heavy Rain and Prism in Jeans
Bought this cd when it just come out,few months later my beloved partner David passed away, this album brings me tears,Thanks Richard for your wondetful music!David you sleep tight!!!❤❤
Beautiful, magical song. He's produced so much good work but this is the one I keep coming back to. To create something like this you have to be not only a great songwriter and musician, you also need real joy in your soul. Loved it when I first heard it ten years ago and will never get tired of it.
My professor had us watch exit through the gift shop monday and finished it today, I loved it! And the song was just so perfect for the beginning and ending! THANK YOU MISTER GOODMAN!! YOUR THE BEST!!! :D
Do you know why you got feelings in your heart' Don't let fear of feeling fool you What you see sets you apart And there's nothing here to bind you It's no way for life to start Do you know that tonight the streets are ours' Tonight the streets are ours These lights in our hearts they tell no lies Those people they got nothing in their souls And they make our TVs blind us From our vision and our goals Oh, the trigger of time it tricks you So you have no way to grow But do you know that tonight the streets are ours' Tonight the streets are ours These lights in our hearts they tell no lies And no one else can haunt me The way that you can haunt me I need to know you want me I couldn't be without you And the light that shines around you No nothing ever mattered more than not doubting That tonight the streets are ours Do you know how to kill loneliness at last' Oh, there's so much there to heal dear And make tear stains of the past But do you know that tonight the streets are ours' Tonight the streets are ours These lights in our street are ours Tonight the streets are ours These lights in our hearts they tell no lies
We are on holiday on the isle of wight. We went into a lovely bar and I heard this song. Both myself and my husband were convinced it was the late great Billy Fury singing. I need say no more ...a wonderful compliment. A tremendous talent here in this find .
Heard this song for the first time today on the Ronan Collins Show. I honestly thought it was a vintage track from the 60s or 70s, at least for the first part of the song. Richard Hawley is a latter day Soul man. No too many of those around today.
So me and the love of my life sat down and watched Exit Through the Gift Shop the other night. That being one of my absolute favorite films, it was her first time. Strange part is, this song constantly remind me of her and how much I love her now.
Probably one of the most beautifully composed songs I've heard in a long time and Richards'voice is like chocolate poured over velvet.... Music to my ears...almost brought up a tear... Like KD Lang's version of Crying 😭
I simply can't put into words the feeling this song gives me. So aspirational. I want to believe that the streets can be mine too. Such a joyful tune tinged with a wee bit of regret. Just love it so much. It's beautiful and makes me feel both happy and sad simultaneously ❤️
I found the Swoon record in a charity shop for £2. I played it to death. Eveything is brilliant about it. Such a unique approach to song writing. Lyrics, chord changes, timing, never heard anything like it. Truly original. Wish more artists took creative risks like this! Stunny album.
i used to listen to this going to work on night shift on my bike going down the river trent footpath at trent lock Sawley brings back many memories of these times!
Dios.... Como me encantaria poder conocer personalmente a este gran Artista y darle un gran abrazo. Es como volver a ver a Elvis Presley en estos tiempos. Dios este contigo y te bendiga mucho Richard !!!
Dearest Richard... I think I've fallen in love with you....not in a "Baby Reindeer" way 😂 but in a bored 50 year old housewife way! ❤️ Your voice has seduced my very soul. Thank you x
Whilst I wait for the new Richard Hawley album with great anticipation I will share this one that was always a favourite. I wasn't too keen on his last one but remain a huge fan of his. Clever guy.
It's a mystery why this song didn't become a big hit, how can people who have less talent than a shopping bag full of horse-shit (such as Cher Lloyd and Jedward) be so famous yet someone as talented as this guy is relatively unknown? Brilliant song.
I agree with you this guy is pure class and deserves greater praise I love his music .He appeals to a older mature generation that's probably why he doesn't get the credit he richly deserves Chris Rea is another example.
Great song! I immediately liked it as it was playing over the opening credits to Exit Through the Gift Shop. Discovered the movie and Richard Hawley way too late. Listening to his other songs now. Great stuff!
Randomly heard this song on Spotify for the first time, it’s one of those songs that you feel you’ve always known. (for me anyway)
For me as well.
Why do i feel everything in our life is meaningless and everything going on rn in our world r just something imaginery after listening to this song
It’s not random if you pay attention to the lyrics. He is singing about how we are dumbed down by TV and ads
agreed
I heard it in the movie American Night
Heard it today on Ridley!
I'd like to find a ridley version to download myself
Fell in love wiv this song wen I heard it on a banksy documentary, its so catchy, then heard it agen recently on baby reindeer...i thort it was a new morrisey track wen I 1st heard it... anyone else get morrissey vibes?? ❤❤
Kind of. A bit deeper and straight-toned than Morrissey, imo.
As a huge fan of both artists Richard for me is better but being a musician I’m biased I guess. Morrissey writes great lyrics and vocal Melodie’s but he does not play any instruments.
I just heard it in a show, Ridley. Love it!
Thank you Baby Reindeer for reminding me of this gem!
Don't remember hearing it there. Heard it on a show, Ridley.

Doc about Banksey led me to Richard too! What a gorgeous album. Still listening today. Timeless. ❤
Same
The theme of this song captivated me from exit through the gift shop. It led me to his other works and man every song is deep
Never heard of this guy until today. This song is fabulous. It’s quite Morrissey-esque which is probably why I love it. ❤
Ta bien une tronche a écouter morrisseyyyyy😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wen I 1st heard it, I thort it was a new morrisey track, cos I get morrisey vibes from it 2,had 2 google it 2 check it out,cos I luv morrisey & luv this track 2..❤❤

"These lights in our hearts tell no lies" one of the best lines ever written in a song.
These TV lights blind us from our life and goals... that's what's up
@@quetzalcoaxial7280 “They make our TV’s blind us
from our visions and our goals “ 😢
I agree ☝️
this what music sounds like when talent meets class.
The Simpsons S23E15 - Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart (4 march 2012)
Great comment....nowt like the truth...
Agreed...100%
Your dead right there fella.
He certainly spanned the decades with this one. It wouldn't sound out of place in the 60's 70's 80's 90's or even today. Testament to his songwriting skills. Well done that man.
Sounds bit like a billy firy hit
Sinatra could have sung this. It’s phenomenal.
Thanks to exit through the gift shop for showing me this beautiful song! Much respect Richard
Why is this video totally unexpected, yet perfect for this song?
Just heard this on Dermot O'leary's show for the first time... and it totally blew me away.

This song is a masterpiece but so underrated ❤
Perhaps one of the finest songs ever.
True, compare it to some of the tripe on the radio@@neilegan5088

if there ever was a soundtrack for the time of reckless euphoria i felt from the age of 18 up until my late 20s, this would be fucking it.
Ha ha exactly!
Im nlpt older and this still talks to/of me, lost lot of friends that vouldnt havk it. It speaks of youth atm keep on mr hawley
well put
you're telling me that i wont feel it someday?
This was my phone's ringtone for many years. The year is 2024 and the month is July and I just used this song again as my ringtone ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Heard this in Standing at the Sky’s edge - this will be my first dance with my husband at our wedding. What a beautiful song.
This song sounds like happy memories downtown with friends.
Beautiful, magical song. He's produced so much good work but this is the one I keep coming back to. Still Brilliant. Thanks Richard 👍
When I first heard this I was knocked out with the melody, such a good tune.
god bless Sheffield and the amazing music their people have made.
Got obsessed with the hunter 350 vid
Yes! Haha
there's magic in this song, has a strong sense of what's great about being human
listening while riding your bike.awesome!
Thank you Royal Enfield for reminding us this gem!
Heard this song on a Police show on Channel 5 using Shazam we found this lovely song.
Same!!! But I’m certain I heard it before, I’m trying to work out where
It may have been stated above, but this song is a masterpiece. It reminds me of Roy Orbison, can't offer any higher praise than that.
Have always loved this song and play it on loop when I'm feeling down - never fails to lift my mood.
silky lovely voice . what an artist
Love the song (how could you not) but the video is actually very powerful too. It's well cast and the idea is so strong.
My professor had us watch exit through the gift shop monday and finished it today, I loved it! And the song was just so perfect for the beginning and ending! THANK YOU MISTER GOODMAN!! YOUR THE BEST!!! :D
This is one of my favourite music videos ever.
Exit through the gift shop. Love the documentary and love this song
Just a great classic forever. Wait a minute.
Do you know why you got feelings in your heart'
Don't let fear of feeling fool you
What you see sets you apart
And there's nothing here to bind you
It's no way for life to start
Do you know that tonight the streets are ours'
Tonight the streets are ours
These lights in our hearts they tell no lies
Those people they got nothing in their souls
And they make our TVs blind us
From our vision and our goals
Oh, the trigger of time it tricks you
So you have no way to grow
But do you know that tonight the streets are ours'
Tonight the streets are ours
These lights in our hearts they tell no lies
And no one else can haunt me
The way that you can haunt me
I need to know you want me
I couldn't be without you
And the light that shines around you
No nothing ever mattered more than not doubting
That tonight the streets are ours
Do you know how to kill loneliness at last'
Oh, there's so much there to heal dear
And make tear stains of the past
But do you know that tonight the streets are ours'
Tonight the streets are ours
These lights in our street are ours
Tonight the streets are ours
These lights in our hearts they tell no lies

This is UNBELIEVABLY underrated.

A masterpiece!!!
Heard this today on Dermot O’Leary show, loved it 😍 I’m a Sheffield lass too, amazing song and singer 😍
hawley songs never fail to fill me with christmas spirit
Heard this song for the first time today I absolutely love this I can't get enough of Richard's voice , great lyrics ❤
Heard this on Jo Whiley’s show last week and have played in multiple times since. Gorgeous song.
This song is absolutely beautiful, it makes me well up with the lyrics as it reminds me of a very special person who used to be in my life 😊❤️
So me and the love of my life sat down and watched Exit Through the Gift Shop the other night. That being one of my absolute favorite films, it was her first time. Strange part is, this song constantly remind me of her and how much I love her now.
Nice man
The romcom smothered on sky brought me here. I love this song. Thank you Richard. 🫂🥰🌟
One night after the band in the Old Duke Bristol this came on while chillin, a good night was had by all
Probably one of the most beautifully composed songs I've heard in a long time and Richards'voice is like chocolate poured over velvet.... Music to my ears...almost brought up a tear... Like KD Lang's version of Crying 😭

Temazooo
Brilliantly sung, this has become one of my favourite "go to" songs especially when my favourite team wins away 👍👏
I found the Swoon record in a charity shop for £2. I played it to death. Eveything is brilliant about it. Such a unique approach to song writing. Lyrics, chord changes, timing, never heard anything like it. Truly original. Wish more artists took creative risks like this! Stunny album.
Absolute Genius. Period.
Love the drumming.....just perfect. Most of the time the singer is drowned out.....❤❤❤❤❤

Heard this song from Royal Enfield ad. It's beautiful.
Whilst I wait for the new Richard Hawley album with great anticipation I will share this one that was always a favourite. I wasn't too keen on his last one but remain a huge fan of his. Clever guy.

Just found this music and is awesome. I love his style 😀
this song is forever cherished in my heart
Thanks to Royal Enfield Bikes, for introducing me to this song. Great Biking,Great Music🎉
Not only this one but a lot of his songs are masterpieces
It's a mystery why this song didn't become a big hit, how can people who have less talent than a shopping bag full of horse-shit (such as Cher Lloyd and Jedward) be so famous yet someone as talented as this guy is relatively unknown? Brilliant song.
I do agree with you !! Actually this is what I thought to myself when I first heard that song. Furthermore, its melody brings back to 60s
Bobby Madden ,......you made a grand statement! " Less talent than a shopping bag full of shit". Spot on!
Agree, but its matter of taste, and praps some like wating shit even horse shit, but be aware yr tastes are better
Banksy used it in his film Exit Through the Gift Shop
I agree with you this guy is pure class and deserves greater praise I love his music .He appeals to a older mature generation that's probably why he doesn't get the credit he richly deserves Chris Rea is another example.
Amazing… so poignant - bright lights of TV verses actual reality. Stunning x
I too first heard this on the Banksy documentary. What a tune.. RH is so talented.. this tune is a heart string puller for me.
Translate my spirit at spring.
Remind's me of Christmas.. all the jingly bell things in the background
awesome track... great sound, feel, lyrics, voice... should be bigger.
The Simpsons S23E15 - Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart (4 march 2012)
Agreed. 👍
Great song! I immediately liked it as it was playing over the opening credits to Exit Through the Gift Shop. Discovered the movie and Richard Hawley way too late. Listening to his other songs now. Great stuff!
Royal Enfield introduced me to this masterpiece
✨
I'd never heard this song before. It was at the beginning of the film Exit Through the Gift Shop.
Yo im fucked up but seriously idk what it is but this tune is fucking timeless i can't even put my finger on what it is but it's j beautiful
First heard this on the comedy After Hours on Sky some years ago, such an amazing song.
just perfect!
I love you Richard Hawley
An absolutely fabulous song.
This is so good. With a brilliant video to match and bring out the emotion of the song. First class.
Listening to Richard Hawley is like drinking cream, smooth silky and classy. And he is British, whoop
Love it, love it, LOVE IT....☺️🥰
I listened to this song a couple of weeks ago. Just sorry for not having listened to it sooner.
Love how he incorporated lyrics to random telemarketing ads, game shows, talk shows and news etc.
Qué hermosa es ésta canción. Todo un descubrimiento afortunado.
Escucha Hotel room o the ocean.
Absolute classic
Was a really nice support for Pulp in Dublin. I actually just bought the album this is on.
