A pal of mine bought a generator/alternator Shovelhead engine from S&S. That engine was linked to a Baker 6 into 4 transmission. He built a 1960s styled chop around it. The bike has been ridden from coast-to-coast with no real problems. As far as I know, it's still on the road. S&S builds some pretty good engines. If that was my Shovel engine, it would go into an unmodified swingarm frame, a four-over 39 mm fork, fatbob tanks and a Crazy Frank's tail section to finish it off. Good luck.
Hahahaha holy shit without knowing you almost nailed exactly what I’m doing with it. It’s going into a swinger frame with a frank style fender with a +6 panhead front end . I’ll send some updates as it progresses 😅 I’m building something that can be reliable enough to go anywhere but im probably going to need to get a beefy transmission as opposed to my stock ratchet top
@@GearedScience - You know what's been said about great minds! When a lot of guys are going for builds around rigid frames, a swishy tailed chop sounds even better. America's roads aren't getting any better. If you can afford it, a Baker 4 into 6 transmission would be a great way to go. Best -- W
I purchased mine in 80 ci 16 years ago. Blew rocker box gaskets at 5000 miles. First the front cylinder then a week later the rear. Replaced with a set of Jim's. No trouble since. Installed in a 77 FLH dresser frame. Plenty of torque to ride two up anywhere on stock 4 speed tranny. Like you I stared at it for a week before installation.....
@@GearedScience Yes same as the 93 engine. I guess not many buying the 80 ci version so they quite offering it. I did pull the heads and replaced the copper gaskets with Jim's also. Have 20 thou on it now no other problems runs as good as it looks.....
Do something fun with it. Find an old skoot that needs an engine, which I admit, is a hard thing to do. I replaced an 80" EVO with an 111" S&S and it worked out great. Been looking for a donor bike for the old EVO but haven't found one yet. The old one still ran good. I just replaced the engine instead of buying a new bike. I had already changed to a 6 speed a couple of years before. If you get a S&S certified mechanic to install it the warranty will double in length.
@@GearedScience it comes with a stoker flywheel made by S&S that is the standard of the industry for the last 40 years or more not sure why you entertain changing to a different one

Oh wow well better the rocker gasket than the heads I guess. Does yours have the roller rockers?

I did the same with a V96 14 years ago still drifts just fine.
The way he through the instructions 😂😂
My 93 Knuckle from them didnt include a top motor mount or owners manual.I guess they felt I didnt deserve it.
Congrats!
Thanks!
She's a beauty. Put it on the coffee table and look at it for now. You know where it'll end up.
I've got a project that i was going to put a shovelhead into the i think this is going in instead haha

I’m not too worried about warranties. But I think I have just the project for it. I’ll keep everyone updated
Old scoot? Build a new scoot.
All it needs now is a set of Truett and Osborn Torque Monster flywheels
ooooo tell me more

how much does it cost
You should make at least one video just looking at it 😂
hahahaha i definitely will
Did yours come with a VOES?
It did!
@@GearedScience damnit .. I bought mine bastardized and no VOES. Not even a fitting in the Y intake.
@@ND-eo1ij damn that’s rough!
Build something stupid! Stupid fun that is.
I think I’ve decided where it’s going! I’ll post an update shortly!
You don't get a free engine stand.
For real! for what those things cost i expected an engine stand in there
