Hey D Rail, I got a buddy here in Cincinnasty Ohio that needs a Demco Super Satellite Radio That Needs To Be Redone ? Can You Do That Old Monster Or Do You Know Someone
Can you set up a 655v1 to run low enough to run a old school Palomar 600 mobile amp ? I think it’s a 1x4 1446’s I usually run my Connex 3300 into it 4watt dead key but it just don’t have the sound quality of my Stryker 655 !!!
I ran a NoName 16 pill on my base for a few years, had a lot of fun with that thing. He was my tech and friend for a lot of years, glad to see these pop up every now and then. Is the 4 pill available?
Surely you don't need anywhere near as much drive as that for the 16 2879's? They are surely being driven into compression. If you halved the drive I'm sure there would be little drop in output (on the fundamental frequency)!
It actually stays pretty clean as far as thd is concerned even with high drive, but the multiplication is not there to be worth while at all. 400 pep in to make 4 to 5k depending on voltage is the sweet spot it made 10x at 13.2 volts with 400 watts in. 400 is all that box needs. Others, class c boxes do benefit from a little more drive. This one not so much. It's incredible with low drive.
Yes, 10db gain I seem to remember is the spec on the originals. As you know once you hit compression IMD does increase and you just apply for the 'Worked all Neighbours' award as the signal spreads. You do some nice stuff on those radios. There was little of this stuff going on when I last visited the US in the mid 80's and all the little amplifiers around back then were still using the various Motorola MRF bipolar devices, Varmint, Gray and others. @@DRail1990
