Thank you! I had to downgrade back to 15 because the new version caused the battery to drain and the battery capacity went from 92% to 90% within a week (!) of using the 16 version (I have an iPhone 12 PRO) The device would heat up all the time and the battery runs out quickly and it destroys the device. I'll wait for better versions and for now I'm fine with 15
thank you very much! You were very thorough with all the steps. I tried beta for stage manager on iPad OS. However, I was having a lot of trouble with gestures. This tutorial got me working again.I appreciate the time you put into sharing this.
I have just downloaded the public version of IOS 16 and your video will be of great help to me if ever it is necessary for me to go back to IOS 15.5. Thanks !
Thanks for sharing this video, this helped me a lot. I was on 16 beta for more than 3 weeks. Banking apps are crashing and while playing games if I attend the phone calls, system just crashes with blank black screen and a loader icon. 16 beta features are great but frequent crashing of apps frustrates.
The app crashes weren't the biggest issue because they were extremely rare. I had to downgrade because the Freestyle Libre app simply will not load on iOS 16. Otherwise I wouldn't have downgraded and would have stayed on beta.
I was on the beta for a couple hours before I got annoyed and downgraded back. Lock screen customization, I'd say, was the killer feature of this update. Yet, it got rid of my custom live wallpaper. There are basically only 4 fonts for the time. The widget complications all have to be the same color as the time and can't be like the colorful default on the apple watch. The battery complication widget is only for the apple watch and can't even display the battery percentage of the device its on. The weather text widget is left aligned when its the widget activated and all the other text is centered. The controls for the live music icon are no longer even and balanced because the airplay icon is now aligned next to it on the bottom right making the bottom left empty and feeling lopsided. Also the lock screen customization screen kept asking me if I want to have the same wallpaper on my home screen as on my lock screen every time I changed a widget and wouldn't let me save unless I had to press some extra buttons and say no.
I did not realize the process to restoring a backup to an older iOS version would be as simple as changing the iOS build number in that plist file. I'm so used to Apple making everything so difficult that I completely overlooked this. Thank you for the tutorial!
It’s simple BUT I am unable to use iDrive. Are you able to sign into iCloud? After I downgraded, I sign into iCloud but all the apps that rely on it are complaining that I am not signed it. The Files app also never loads my iDrive contents

THANK YOU! This video saved my camera for me. I just updated my Iphone 11 from 16.1.1 to 16.1.2, and my camera quality went way down. I'm really into photography and videography, which I use my Iphone for. After I updated the software, the quality of the camera went down, and I was freaking out. Luckily, after following this video, I was able to downgrade back to 16.1.1, and my camera quality went back to being normal. It's so crazy how the updates can affect any and all features of your phone. I'm never upgrading to the newest software on this phone. HOWEVER, I NEED TO POINT OUT AN ERROR IN THIS VIDEO THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE YOU LOSE YOUR STUFF. At the beginning, he points out to do a back up in icloud. THEN, after restoring your phone to the downgraded software, he says to restore your Iphone to the last backup, but I noticed in the video his backup is coming from the actual computer (MAC). Well, if you follow his first step and do an icloud back, that backup will be in icloud and not on the actual computer. I would advise to do a backup on icloud and the computer just to be safe. Also, I have windows, and the files that he chooses on the video were not on my windows software. I understand that directions were given, but I didn't get the same results. Luckily, I was able to figure out how to work around it and get everything back to normal. Anyways, I'm super grateful for the video! Just wanted to point that out to people in the future.
I got a question. Bare with me. Does this video help say if I get new iPhone 14 and I have the iOS 16 and can I remove to the iOS 15 take it back where I don’t get the update and upgrade and stuff like I don’t want to unsend or others unsend their messages so this will help if I switch back to the old upgrade right ?
I broke my old phone so I can’t do it but I plan get on a new one I can’t stuff on the video he said but I can do it when I get new one I just have to get a new phone and hopefully my screen can get fix so I can do the steps smh.
Thank you so much Brandon for an accurate and friendly video that helped me.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I was in a great hurry to upgrade my iPhone 13 pro max to iOS 16, and then I discovered that the live wallpaper no longer exists in the new version, and the function of adding/replacing lock screen images cannot be disabled. Therefore, a long press on the screen leads only to changing and adding the images. Like many other people, I was also disappointed to find out that the image on my lock screen was no longer "alive". This is a picture of my cat who has not been with me for two years.😌 Maybe it's a sentimental reason, but I've found that it's the little things that make me happy.☺ THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I didn’t have enough storage in iCloud. Figured I don’t wanna pay to get more so I updated without backing up. I guess I’ll just have to power through any bugs until the official update
It's fine if you don't have storage in iCloud, as in the video you make a local backup. Also just go to backup settings and remove some useless apps, that should get enough storage.

Love the 16 IOS beta but if you need to constantly use your banking app be careful HSBC ( being the slow and worst banking service ) crashes and it would seem like they wont be planning to fix this for ios anytime soon unlike other banking app / services working perfectly fine. My iCloud account doesn't even show the backup on my account if I go from the icloud website. Any idea on how to solve this? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Great video & the instructions got me through it easily. Downgraded because I learnt the iOS 16 was no longer supporting airplay on my my 3rd gen apple TV.
If anyone’s concerned about Google Authenticator, yes your auth keys will still be there after downgrading to iOS 15. It was something which only came to mind after I reset my phone 😅
Wasn't sure if the latest security exploits (Aug. 17-ish), patched in 15.6.1 were patched in the 16 Public Beta; plus I never put in the time to use any of the new features, save for the screen lock editables, and the delete text messages. I didn't turn on Messages in my iCloud setting before back up, but I have had Messages "save forever" on. My Messages were not there after completing the 15.6.1 revert. But, when I turned Messages on in iCloud it then down'd them all into the 15.6.1 revert. This was fairly involved process, Brandon. Thanks for the most excellent instructions on completing this. I never would have put this all together on my own!!!
ATTENTION! If you're doing this method of downgrade from computer, your icloud file app WILL NOT load properly. speaking from the experience and apple support told me the only way is to restore from icloud backup instead of computer

I successfully downgraded my iPhone 13 mini from 16.0.2 to 15.7 with this guide on 24 September. Thank you soo much. By the way, the notifications and the media player control being at the bottom of the lockscreen was not convenient for me. Besides, when you add lockscreen widgets to the mini lockscreen, you wont have much space for notifications left. Also, in 13 mini there is no option to show battery percentage at the top right corner. In my opinion iOS16 is not a good choice for the mini's. Never change running system ;) Thanks again Brandon!
If you ever decide to upgrade to 16 again, you can actually change the way notifications are displayed in the settings. Not sure about the media player though

This method bricked my Fitness app, It would not open anymore. It connects up with my apple watch just fine but it won’t work as it should be because now I can’t check my history and stuff. I think I have to forget about this backup and start fresh again… I followed the tutorial all the way, haven’t missed a thing. Honestly it really sucks bc I had really loved using iOS 16 but for some reason the screen flickered randomly, especially on grey pictures and UI. It wasn’t really that much of a flickering but it was still noticable. At first I thought it was a hardware related issue but I checked up on forums and a lot of people were experiencing the same as me. Personally, I think it’s just unbelievable that Apple released the firmware with this bug. I really hope this will be fixed really soon.

If you’re a member for 2 years straight you earn the VIP badge, but you get different badges along the way that symbolizes how long you’ve been a member of the channel as a supporter. There’s also 3 types of paid memberships. There’s the Brandon Pro, the Brandon Pro Max and the Brandon Ultra. No matter what subscription you choose you’ll still be a VIP member after 2 years. But just by becoming a member you’ll get a lot of perks. It’s awesome!! 😎
I have an iphoneX. Once I upgraded to 16 could not use my phone. Screen did not respond, ghost typing, uncontrolled movements of screen. Went to Apple store for help and was told it was the hardware and needed a new phone. Watched your video and with some help was able to go back to 15 and phone works like it did. Thank you so much.
Took four hours, but using this method, I got through it. Thank you - I was getting nervous about ios 16's low battery life on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, so I switched back. Downloaded Atom to view the code and change the 16 to 15, didn't really experience any issues. Thanks so much!
did you use atom on windows? and also did it require any additional plugins to open the file or save it as .plist again?
Thank you so much for this video. I have been speaking with Verison tech support for several hours in the past week, and they have not been able to assist me with the problems I'm having. Finally, as soon as the tech agent discovered I had installed IOS 16.1 beta, he refused to go further. I loved the detailed step-by-step information you provided. Everything worked great.
Thanks Brandon for the video I had IOS 16 and some of the features were good but i had some apps that crash so I decided to downgrade to IOS 15.6 and your video really helped it worked perfectly followed your step by step and i done it successfully. I had reinstall all my apps but it took time to do it but it's ok. Thank you Brandon for your help.
I stopped half way and my new iPhone pop up didn't show at all pain....
Thank you! I had to downgrade back to 15 because the new version caused the battery to drain and the battery capacity went from 92% to 90% within a week (!) of using the 16 version (I have an iPhone 12 PRO)
The device would heat up all the time and the battery runs out quickly and it destroys the device. I'll wait for better versions and for now I'm fine with 15
thank you very much! You were very thorough with all the steps. I tried beta for stage manager on iPad OS. However, I was having a lot of trouble with gestures. This tutorial got me working again.I appreciate the time you put into sharing this.
I had the same problem! It got to the point that I couldn't do anything! Couldn't even turned it off... I hated it!
I have just downloaded the public version of IOS 16 and your video will be of great help to me if ever it is necessary for me to go back to IOS 15.5. Thanks !
Any luck?
Thanks for sharing this video, this helped me a lot. I was on 16 beta for more than 3 weeks. Banking apps are crashing and while playing games if I attend the phone calls, system just crashes with blank black screen and a loader icon.
16 beta features are great but frequent crashing of apps frustrates.
Thanks Brandon! Used this to downgrade my iPhone 15 from 18.1 beta 4 to 18.0 to prep it for sale. Obviously I didn't need to keep any of the data.
The app crashes weren't the biggest issue because they were extremely rare. I had to downgrade because the Freestyle Libre app simply will not load on iOS 16. Otherwise I wouldn't have downgraded and would have stayed on beta.
Same problem here. I wrote a detailed comment above.
Please can I get the Link you used
Thank you for making this video, it helped so much when I needed to downgrade after running into undesirable bugs in the 16 beta.
I loved iOS 16 beta but the battery life was garbage. Thank you so much!
I might have missed it, but in Step 6, be sure to turn off Find My before restoring the backup. Anyway, thanks Brandon.
He did it in the beginning.
I had one of the apples preset Home Screen wallpapers and I couldn’t find any way to get that back on iOS 16, plus it needs a lot more work.
literally the Lock Screen is so ugly I hate it
I did not realize the process to restoring a backup to an older iOS version would be as simple as changing the iOS build number in that plist file.
Wow Brandon, I like your wallpaper on your mac! Since, I'm from Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺 if you have it available somewhere I'd be grateful for it. And also thanks for the super video!
Would I still have the option to unsend message if I have the iOS 15?
Thank you so much Brandon for an accurate and friendly video that helped me.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I was in a great hurry to upgrade my iPhone 13 pro max to iOS 16, and then I discovered that the live wallpaper no longer exists in the new version, and the function of adding/replacing lock screen images cannot be disabled.
Therefore, a long press on the screen leads only to changing and adding the images.
Like many other people, I was also disappointed to find out that the image on my lock screen was no longer "alive".
This is a picture of my cat who has not been with me for two years.😌
Maybe it's a sentimental reason, but I've found that it's the little things that make me happy.☺ THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thanks so much! I'm downgrading because my battery life has been abysmal, and I can't have that when I'll be going on a 21-day Eurotrip next month.
Brandon When is the fully release coming out? 🤔
Around September probably
When it's ready
This Video Really Helped Me, I was facing issues with Banking Apps, So I had to Downgrade
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!
I was about to do the same without a back up, what’s the worst that can happen tho ??
@@AyrisX86 I backed up with iTunes but there’s not a backup on my phone, it’s just on my laptop so how does that even work ??
@@505PRE I heard the problems came if you tried to downgrade back to 15 but personally I don’t see why I’d do that.
Thank you! Really helpful and worked all the way. Cheers!
IOS 15 is no longer available on IPSW.
(Please ignore the other replies, they are not legitimate.) You can downgrade to the iOS 15.7 "beta". You can find the file on trustworthy sites, I found one on reddit and downgraded successfully. Cheers
@@uhoh5184can u give the link to the one u found
Works! Thank you. Downgraded because iOS16 made my phone not work at all. Crashed. Kept freezing. Couldn't accept calls. Nothing. I'll be on the 15.6.1 train until they fix it. Thanks for making this easy to follow guide. 😁
Love the 16 IOS beta but if you need to constantly use your banking app be careful HSBC ( being the slow and worst banking service ) crashes and it would seem like they wont be planning to fix this for ios anytime soon unlike other banking app / services working perfectly fine. So if you're planning to upgrade to IOS 16 and uses HSBC banking app be very careful
Same for First Direct in the UK too.... I just had to restore my 15.6 because of it
@@terryhibberd4902 Same here!
I need to slow down too my camera is so blurry esp the rear cam. I’m so pissed and regret to upgrade the iOS 16! Happy to see this vid you made so helpful!
Thank you so much 😊
Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 Europe
Awesome video!!! Thank you :)
Does this work for Apple Watch?
A heads up: make a backup of your backup folder. I lost my backup in the process due to a bug in iTunes (pc, loopback ip locking the restore process).
good tip
i also lost my backup idk what to do 😪
Thankful to you I accidentally downloaded ios16 but that was giving me problems like battery degradation, phone heat and app crashing as well, but you video helped me a-lot i find steps easy to do and successfully downgraded my phone . Thanks alot and best wishes for future
Can you help me downgrade their all not signed only one signed is the iOS 16 one not the 15.6
Thanks a bunch for the video I was able to figure it out although I did have to download an application called “atom” to be able to open the plist file but it worked out great and I can’t thank you enough.
iOS 16 wasn’t bad. There honestly isn’t that much of a change from iOS 15 which is typical but I couldn’t get on any sports betting app because they couldn’t verify my location and that’s why I wanted to switch back. battery life was also an issue when I never had it before. Thanks again for the video assistance!!!!
Appreciate you mentioning Atom to open the Windows Plist file. Without that I would've had no clue how to get past that step. Thanks!
@@justinszabo8139 Glad it helped. It was the only thing that got me hung up on this reset as well so I thought it was worth mentioning!!!
How do I get iOS 14 from iOS 13? Don’t want iOS 15
I'm such an idiot. I tried out the dev beta, restored, and now I'm trying the public beta. I'm blind and use accessibility, and omg there are definitely more bugs with voice over in the public beta than in the dev beta, how does that work? So, guess what? I'm restoring again!!! Fuuuun!!!
I love your vids Brandon, have a great day.
:)
Could you also please make a video for coming to the normal (public) version of iOS 16 from its Public Beta when it is officially out without losing data?
Yeah that’s what I wanna know
You will only need to remove the beta profile on your iPhone.
You’ll have the final version before it comes out to the public. Don’t need to do anything
@@BrandonButch So will there be no need to remove the Public Beta Profile from the IPhone under Settings>General>VPN & Device Management to get the official public version?
So I’m on ios 16 Public beta right now when ios 16 releases do I just update my phone and it won’t delete any of my data right
The porbleme is that the green signed ipsws is 16.2 but i want to downgrade to 15.6
Same
After tying other restores, yours is the one that worked!!! Thanks man great video. I downgraded because battery life was horrible!!!
Are you able to sign into iCloud? After I downgraded, I sign into iCloud but all the apps that rely on it are complaining that I am not signed it. The Files app also never loads my iDrive contents
IPSW doesn't have signed 15 anymore. It is 16.3.1 - is there a way to find 15 again?
Did u find a Way to get back to 15?
either of yall find a way to go back yet? I just updated in an attempt to fix an issue, but all updating did was make the issue worse and also kill my battery...
Thanks a bunch!, i wasnt able to restore my iPhone for the last 2 months, iOS 16 deleted all my Backups on iCloud, would not Reset to factory settings thru iTunes, either normally or with Recovery mode, neither would it restore from my ios 15 pc backup whatsoever, so thanks a bunch!
Hi Brandon, thank you so much for this tutorial. Unfortunately, I saw it too late and I lost everything (all my pictures, all my files, my access to my crypto wallets, etc.). Previous to downgrading (which I did from the recovery mode of the iPhone, I did a backup of the phone with iCloud. Unfortunately, I could not select it when setting up iOS 15. My iCloud account doesn't even show the backup on my account if I go from the icloud website. Any idea on how to solve this? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
did you figure it out
Great video & the instructions got me through it easily.
Thanks for your help Brandon, hoping you reach 1 million soon :)
Got a quarter of the way through this process and realized it's not even worth it to downgrade lol
Same, all these steps. 😒
ty so much i downloaded the beta last night is was borderline breaking my phone and this vid helps a lot
I haven’t had any bugs on my iPhone 13
I have touchscreen issues on iphone x iOS 16. downgraded to 15. thank you so much. i subscribed!!
I updated to this the public beta , so When the official iOS 16 drops (non beta) will I be able to update to it without having to restore ?
Yes you will 😂
Sometimes the official software is the same version as the release candidate, so no updating is required.
Downloaded the developer beta and can’t get rid of it :(
@@EmilyLovesTea123 you can switch to the public beta now just watch his most recent vid if you want to go back to 15 idk
No it's not, there's a way of editing the file so it properly imports.
The string to string you mean?

iOS 16 beta was pretty solid. Had to revert back to 15.6 because the Notes app kept crashing. Note that I’m on 15.6, things feel faster. Followed all these steps and for some reason all my reminders and calendar entries are gone
Are you able to sign into iCloud? After I downgraded, I sign into iCloud but all the apps that rely on it are complaining that I am not signed it. The Files app also never loads my iDrive contents
Thank you! I downgraded not because of any major issues but because my banking app stopped working on ios 16
What I personally am experiencing is I have better data connection, I have much battery life, and haven’t experience any bugs at all,
It worked bro✌🏼 thanks a ton👍 successfully downgraded to ios 15.6 without losing any data🥳
Thank you, bro! This solved my problem with this warning "ios isn"t upgraded on newer version" :)

Thanks Brandon I believe this will help me in downgrading back to iOS 15.6. I am downgrading because my major bank app keeps crashing on iOS 16. The bank's technical support told me to wait till the official release before I could use the bank app. Can't afford to wait for this.
Mannnnnnn YOU SAVE MY LIFEEEEEEE
with your help I managed to go from ios 16.1 back to 16🤩
You were spot on in the intro : banking apps not working - in fact will not even open under 16
I successfully downgraded my iPhone 13 mini from 16.0.2 to 15.7 with this guide on 24 September. Never change running system ;) Thanks again Brandon!
where did you find iOS 15.7 ipsw i can't seem to find it.
Same it says that I can only go back to ios16.0.1
If you ever decide to upgrade to 16 again, you can actually change the way notifications are displayed in the settings. Not sure about the media player though

I plan to upgrade just to see what iOS 16 (RC) is like, and then go back down to iOS 15. I'm on iPhone 8 plus, you see, and I don't want to tax it too much. Got iPadOS on my iPad, and that's good enough for me.
it was really draining the battery and it was not really stable it will be better waiting the new version. thanks for the vid
My iPhone XR has constantly been hot with awful battery life, downgraded. Thank you!

omg thank you so much for this video!! I randomly decided to update to IOS 16 this morning. I didn't like it immediately because of the lock screen since I used to have a live wallpaper. I tried playing some of my games on it and the battery drained so quickly. I just couldn't stand it. My mac wouldn't detect my phone when I plugged it in and I had to install something every time. I had difficulties downgrading, but once I found the right file, it worked pretty well (except for messages... I don't know why my old messages didn't load even though I had everything backed up). Now I just have to wait for all the apps to reload. Thanks so much for the help!!

You should advice people that if they unplug their iphone AFTER the reset, and the auto sync option is enabled, iTunes will override the old backup with the new that is currently "empty", it did with me, I just lost everything in that process, because my pc restarted
Thanks to this video, I successfully restored my device to ios 15.
