"Cityscapes" is a three movement work for five Bb trumpets. Each movement gives a caricature of city life "under the microscope". The first part entitled "Rush Hour" is a light and somewhat comical movement that depicts the morning commute into the city. The second part, entitled "Skyscrapers", attempts to portray the grandeur and magnificence of the city's skyline. The third and final part, entitled "Rhythm of the City", is a musical essay that describes how a city is always teeming with action and is never at rest. The final movement features an unusual percussive effect that treats the trumpet as a melodic percussion instrument. This effect is achieved by lightly tapping on the mouthpiece in combination with fingerings.

Curieusement, à moins que mes oreilles me trompent, j'ai l'impression (et c'est sans doute juste une impression) d'entendre de l'accordéon et non de la trompette car le son des 5 trompettes y ressemble à s'y méprendre pour le coup !

my college's trumpet ensemble has a quintet thats playing this for a competition and im a huge fan of it. however, looking at the score theres something ive always wondered:
why did you notate the first movement with the key signature of concert Eb major/C minor, if its very obviously in concert F minor?
