    Watching this reminds me of my grand aunt who was a nun. When I was a child my mother would take me to a convent to visit her a few times. Each time, I always pick up the FRESH scent of her white clean habit. She was so gentle, kind, sweet and always so excited to see us just as much as we were excited to see her. She offered us kids candies and treats when there are some available. Those were the days. Really makes me cry reliving it. I hope these nuns much happiness.

    A dear friend of mine, Sister Sara, was in Mosul at the time of the ISIS attack. They lost their Motherhouse, their beautiful Cathedral was turned to rubble. Sr. Sara was one of those who survived, escaping through a tunnel. She's now teaching in Erbil. She made her Final Vows in their beautiful cathedral. I sponsored her as a Novice of the Dominican Sisters of St. CATHERINE OF SENNIA.

      Lay people can be close to God too. I don't think Mary lived in a convent. The body of Christ has many necessary parts like a human body does and they do not all look the same but are interconnected and keep the whole functioning. Peace of Christ to you all.

    These Holy sisters definitely have some serious habit mojo going. If I'm wearing solid white, any dirt within a ten-foot reach will find me. Black? Dust and cat hair come looking for me. How do these sisters stay some impeccably attired?
    God's Peace and Eternal Blessings to all of you!! 💜✝✝🤗🤗🐧🐧

    Why do some orders use a priest or bishop

    • @MidwestMike100
      @MidwestMike100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The vesting ceremony is part of progressing from the postulancy to the novitiate. In many orders this ceremony is preside by a Mother Superior, or a sister of rank in the order. In their novitiate the sisters will continue their formation and studies, and begin immersing themselves into some, and more of the duties of their order. When they make their final profession of vows, in many orders that is when a priest or bishop might preside. I would think one of the sisters will correct me if wrong.

    Just curious. Do Postulants choose their religious names, or are they assigned by some higher authority?

    • @thomasmcnerney9745
      @thomasmcnerney9745 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the religious community.
      Some change their names...others do not. Usually the postulant submits 3 choices.

    I hope they still celebrate true LATIN MASS ( Mass of all ages ) in your convent and keep Holy Catholic Tradition, not protestant- like which infiltrated our churches after Vatican 2.
