  • This describes the building of Beaver Dam on the White River in Arkansas. This created Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas. Beaver Lake is the source of drinking water for one in six Arkansans. It's the raw water source for Beaver Water District, which cleans water and sells it to four cities. The cities then resell the water to their customers. For more information, visit bwdh2o.org.

I can remember my family camping at Beaver a lot in the 70's and 80's.

I understand the need to store water but it would have been nice to have seen what it was like before they built the dam.

Thanks for watching! There are a few photos on the USACE site www.swl.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Lakes/Beaver-Lake/Dam-and-Lake-Information/ that are in the first initial stages of construction. Beaver Water District might have some historical photos of which you are seeking, but it will take some digging. The Shiloh Museum is also a possibility shilohmuseum.org/
