Wow. What a powerhouse duo! I was 16 in 1966 but I never get did to see Etta or Sugar Pie. As I started discovering the blues later on I was exposed to their music for the first time. Thank God we have sites like YT where we can hear all of their fantastic music again.
Those blue lights in the basement days were awesome, and we did dance like it was no tomorrow. Would not change those times for any number of days after that.
Try that today, people will be afraid for you to come in because of a recent virus outbreak and $100 cover fee at the door, no food served, no free drinks might have to bring your own, you won’t have a good time, your car won’t be safe, don’t ask no woman to dance because she wouldn’t know what your talking about or better not even speak/acknowledge you, then you realize you wasted a evening and $100 cover fee and possible you may been poisoned because you left your drink to use the restroom that didn’t work and now your light headed, no one gonna take you home because there high or drunk and the you don’t have money for a Uber because you blew it on the cover fee, no one is up at 2am to come get you so you might as well walk, if you do you’ll get stopped by local police and then your in jail for the evening, now you gotta miss work because the police station won’t let you make the call, you had one more time to call out then your fired and it happened, now your jobless life sucks!!!! All because you went to the basement PT 3

And then from the 1940s thru the 50s & on, in some public housing projects some gangs had illegal clubs in some basements where they'd have parties sometimes or bring girls down there when there were people at home & no privacy. Yep, here's to back in the days, & some nights, down in the basement.
Well, I'm 75 in the meantime, but still think thia is one of the very best soul duet ever, just superb!!
