- After a lot of back and forth flirtation between the FemQuisitor and Dorian, any romantic intentions she had were put to an end when a revealing family reunion takes place regarding the actions of Dorian's disapproving father. Despite being romanticly led on, she seems to have gained a best friend in Dorian.

My sister spent a good half-hour creating her female elven mage, and fell head over heals in love with Dorian. When this scene played out, she was conflicted between crying or putting a bullet through her TV. She ended up locking herself in her room out of depression.

Nothing is ever truly black and white in regards to human behaviour. You could be the most butch, macho alpha male out there and be sexually attracted to men, or on the flip side you could be the most flamboyant over dramatic type of person (The personality type quite often stereotyped for gay males) but be attracted to women. It's just how it is. Dorian is Dorian, my friend. :)

You can actually turn it to a sort of humorous friendly thing if you pick the "I like flirting" option after. She says "Desist? Don't you dare." as kind of a teasing thing and I think it works really well. Though i do see your point.

In the last choice, I chose to keep flirting with him. He approved, so now I still get the flirt options with him during some of his dialogues. All his snark and flirting makes me giggle. XD
I have a female elf in the works (I've yet to finish the game as a female yet lol), so I'll be checking that option out. Cheers for letting me know. Then again to be honest, I don't even know if I actually do continue to get the flirting options. This character is not that far from this point on. After all, I used the mod that let my male warden romance Alistair in Origins and there are mods to let males romance Solas and Blackwall. Turn about is fair play in my opinion. They just want to further customize their gaming experience and that is perfectly OK in my book! :)

This scene really made me grow to love Dorian's character. I'm a lesbian, and while I never had to deal with something like this in my family, I've spoken to people who have. This just made him seem so much more real compared to some of the other characters. He has a permanent place on any future playthroughs.
I really enjoy the depth of the romance system.

this is a very powerful scene. Bioware did it right. Shows how homosexuals battle with their everyday lives, even with the people whom they love. I'm really impressed, i can see how the homosexual players felt when they saw this scene, this is one of reasons why i love Bioware, they care for everyone :)
It's weird I'm straight I never saw myself liking a gay character but Dorian is my inquisitors bro.
I felt bad when he said "I wouldn't like that Dorian."
From the moment Dorian arrived on my screen, I knew that I would eventually have to break my 'I only play RPGs as a female character' rule and make a male Inquisitor so I could romance the pants off him one day (and even with as much as I loved Fenris in DA2, I never felt the urge to play male Hawke). I LOVE THIS GAME. I do not, however, love the bugs. Three patches in and my game crashes to desktop without warning now (the crashes before were very few and far between) for what seems to be no reason whatsoever, and the sound will now cut out without warning as well, causing me to have to quit the game entirely and restart. I can't wait until BioWare fixes these nasty bugs, because until they do, my boyfriend (the one who introduced me to Dragon Age when we got together 5 years ago) refuses to play it until the majority of the kinks are worked out. Thanks for posting this video!! Such a heartbreaking story and scene!

Dorian is one of my absolute favorite characters and I love that you can still be very flirty with him and the two of you can become very close if you play a female. It was just a joke, a reference to how other forms of popular culture seem to portray scenarios of women that have the token "gay best friend" that they confide in. So yeah, it came across differently than I meant it. I apologize.

As a not-straight woman this is... amazing.
Parents, even eventually accepting parents, are often... afraid. This shows the difficulty of having a parent who is afraid, who is uncertain, who would be willing to try to "change" their children for "their" own good. Even parents who do not consider conversion therapy can hurt their children. I hope this character and story will help a few people consider human sexuality, and the effects of even "well-meaning" homophobia with a more open eye.
What is the deal with the female Inquisitor animations in this game? They move like they're about 150 lbs. heavier than they appear to be.

I honestly don't know if any line of voice acting will ever hurt me as much as the way he delivered that "you tried to.. change me". Honestly, so much hurt in a couple of words. The disbelieve, even after all those years, that his father would do such a thing. Amazing scene.

Lee Hales I don't think dorian would approve, he may be angry at his father for the rest of his life, but even dorian know that his father is far from being a totally evil person and I doubt he want him dead. He is aware his father truly regrets what he has done.

i do wish they'd had a more tactful way to comment on your own sexuality // your inquisitor's sexuality, though. i didnt choose the "explain that" option because it really rubbed me the wrong way, but i would have loved to tell him that i feel for him. i'll just have to push through that question in my next playthrough, i guess.

Back in DA2, I was sometimes angered when I was trying to be best buddies with guys like Anders and then make them feel bad when I rejected their bisexual advances. But now I was kind of sad that Dorian wasnt bisexual because I wanted to romance him with a fem mage inquisitor. I really liked the idea of marrying into a Tevinter noble house and producing the heir that was needed. Thats my opinion though.

I have no problems with homosexuality, in fact I thought Bioware was scoring a serious amount of points by having strictly gay characters like Dorian and Sera. It felt like a huge step forward in the right direction! Yet this is how clever the writing of Dorian is: it made me question my own opinions on sexuality. I am a straight female, and have never been anything else. However, talking and flirting with Dorian as a fem-inquisitor really made me want to romance him, I really liked him and as you said, wanted to marry him and give him the Tevinter heir. But I knew he was strictly gay, so I sat there and I thought to myself: can I make a male inquisitor and romance Dorian? There's the brilliance: not SHOULD I, but CAN I? It made me question what I was comfortable with, and even though I still campaign for gay rights and the equal treatment of homosexuals, it made me wonder if there was something wrong with me that I still only wanted to romance Dorian as a female. In the end, I decided that we should just be friends, and that I can dream of him and his fabulous moustache! ;)

I kinda had the feeling Dorian was at least open to men from the beginning, as bi/homosexuality in Dragon Age companions is pretty normal. Didn't expect him to be strictly gay, though. Trying to think, were there any other companions that were strictly gay or is Dorian a first? Regardless, good companion. Probably my favorite. Or Blackwall.

I already knew Dorian was gay before playing the game but honestly, it was just fun to flirt with him. The character is mad charming. My player character has Iron Bull for... everything else.
One of the reasons I love Dorian so much is because he flirted with my female Lavellan, and I chose the "keep flirting with me" option and he was delighted. it hit me in the feels because it was almost exactly what happened with one of my best friends IRL, right down to "in another life." After that, Dorian was my BFF. I love that he sees her strong spirit and femininity even if he isn't interested romantically. Flirting isn't just about sex, it's about connection. So amazing to see that in a game!
Dorean's Father sounds so much like Undena from Mass Effect but I cant seem confirm that. The cast list on Inquisition's IMDB page doesn’t list who did the voice for Dorean's father.

I don't like it when games make all the NPCs you can romance conveniently bisexual so everyone gets a chance with the character they like, I think it makes characters appear kinda shallow and generic, whereas Bioware characters having different sexualities makes them much deeper and more compelling, I hope they keep doing this in their future titles (if they ever do more, that is).

I haven't played many BioWare games, but from this game and the ME trilogy, I don't know many other massive rpg games that have such great character writing, hell any type of game really. And I think Inquisition is the best one by far (from what Bioware games I've played only)
With Fallout 4 implementing romance, I hope they do it like Bioware and not that cheap hollow bullshit in Skyrim. Those were just fucking drones with no personality. But considering how Bethesda plays it safe and just wants to please everyone, I doubt it.

You totally can! Almost all of the quests for your friends can be achieved through friendly interactions without romance. Just some are only for romantic relationships. (If you wanna know exactly, just look it up in the dragon age wiki, it's really useful)

Never quite got why Dorian enjoyed flirting with a female Inquisitor. I mean it is confusing for someone who claims to hate to pretend he's something he's not so why do it? Fun? I guess it might be but it's also rather dishonest. His whole thing seems to be centered on being as outrageous as possible and living that as his motto. I like him, I genuinely do, and consider him a close friend to my femInquisitor but I don't get the flirting. It is fun, yes, but it also seems to go against all he says here about his life and not wanting to pretend it to be something else.
Then again, he readily embraces becoming a megister when his father is killed despite loathing the idea most of his life. He could always marry Maevaris. She's a transgender anyway with no physical means of having children. They'd be the perfect couple and they wouldn't have to pretend a damn moment of their lives together. And that would surely have his father spinning in his grave for all time.

He's freakin' hilarious too. I had him in my party more or less the whole time since the moment he joined, for my insanity playthrough. Dorian & Solas both spec'd as Spirit mages and also down their own specialization tree's (Horror & Rift Mage) made up for a great wee team. I also had Cassandra as Tank/Templar spec. Either way, it was freakin' cool. They all had great banter with each other too. lol
At my second playthrough I had a "female" Inquisitor (writing that in quotationmarks since I played them out as a trans character). When that scene played, it felt inappropriate to me chosing that "you led me on" option. The poor man already had his package to carry there, so I sure as hell didn't want him to feel bad about this. So they never spoke about this, but they kept fun-flirting with each other after becoming besties.
I kinda like that idea of them being so cool with each other, they simply foul around/ appreciate each other like that.
However - good that we have YT to see other choices - I find it really cool, that even if you tell him you led him on, you still have this "lets keep flirting" option.

How can you be friends with both Sera and Dorian? Sera is prejudiced, hateful, and closed minded. She hates people like Dorian, how do you balance a friendship between them?
@@tecs513 I never thought of it like that. When I first took them out to play, they didn't like each other. Then banter would be name calling, if I wasn't romancing the bull, bull would say something funny or encouraging. So I finally asked Sera what she thought of Dorian, she said he was fun.
In 1-1 conversation, I'd try to see where they both were coming from. They both had been treated like crap for being different, and had no acceptance. Once I realized that, I took them out to play more, and they became partners in my antics.
