I have always loved the show 7th Heaven. I used to watch it all the time. I learned a lot of life lessons from watching it. Every episode has a good message behind it. The character Lucy was my favorite. She was the most sensitive out of all the Camden's. I related to her character the most. I was sad when the show ended.

This scene just brought back flashbacks at when i was younger about 12 13 up until i was 17. I lashed out at both my parents A LOT, especially my dad. OMG this had to be the most over dramatic drama show to watch back in the day. Ruthie is 6 and she was just speaking out of anger at the moment. Annie shouldn't have taken it that personally. Obviously Ruthie didn't mean it.
I know right? Well she did say later on in the episode that she knew that Ruthie didn't mean it but it just shocked her that a word like hate came out of Ruthie's mouth. I always thought Annie was being a bit dramatic and shouldn't have taken it that personally.
Obviously, you aren't a parent. If you were, you'd know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you child doesn't mean it, hearing them say the words "I hate you" hurts, a lot
Agreed. I wish she had been a recurring character like some of Matt's other girlfriends. But having Mary and Lucy apologize to her and have her tell them that apologies weren't enough to make it right was a good life lesson. Not everything can be made right again with "I'm sorry." It's kind of like the episode where Mary steals the glass from the restaurant and Matt returns it and apologizes and the owner says, "apology unaccepted... I'm pressing charges!"
+Jademoon25 I'm in total agreement with that. The first time I saw it, I was like "Are you kidding me?" Whenever I told my parents that, they'd just roll their eyes and be like "Yeah whatever, kid" lmao
Jademoon25 that's not totally true I've never said that I hated my my mom to her face or behind her back I've been pissed as hell with her angry as shit but I've never said or felt that way with her
I have very clear memories of my mom sitting in her room crying after I told her I hate her. She knew it wasn't true, and she told me that she used to say the same thing to her mom, so she swore up and down she would never get upset if one of her kids said it to her...until it happened. Words are incredibly powerful weapons, especially when being used by someone you love
nazarene watkins Same here. I've never told my parents I hated them. I've been angry before about the situation when they were grounding and scolding me but never said I hated them at all. Besides, even if I did, they'd roll their eyes and think "Whatever. You don't mean that."
Wado Ryugirl their are worse things a child can say and do to their parents then saying that they hate you and if all that it takes to feel some kinda way you shouldn't be a parent
@Wado Ryugirl, as parents, we have to model a calm demeanor and not be so sensitive to our children's outbursts like what Ruthie just did. Kids look for a dramatic reaction from parents whenever they spew out the dreaded "H" word. They feed off drama. The only way to stop it from turning into a real-life soap opera is by responding calmly, "I understand. If I were you, I'd hate me too. But my decision stands." Then simply walk away to calm down. Let the child be alone for awhile so he/she can reflect on her words. Later on, said child will most likely come back and apologize for what he/she said. They'll also say that they didn't mean it. (They did mean it when they said it. But don't tell them that just yet.) Accept their apology, forgive them, and move on. And know that there is a good chance that they will spew out those dreaded 3 words again in the future when things don't go their way. Such is the reality of the roller-coaster known as parenting.

Oh please. Kids are a zillion! I must have hated my parents a million times growing up. My dad always had a "yeah my heart breaks for you, kid..." attitude.
Okay one how could Mary and Lucy hate someone they just met especially since she didn't really do anything to them or say anything to them except hello, plus she was being nice to them, I mean there have been people who brought me the wrong way that's only because they said something smart to me or insulted me in some way.next if some children did what movie did and said what movie said they what would be picking themselves off the floor. But there are different ways of parenting, Annie was probably overwhelmed she handle it the best way she could and I think she handle it well, it's very hard to be parent especially a stay-at-home parent they work is just as hard as a parent working outside the home except they don't get paid.
Stay at home parent is hard, but doable; being a "good" working single parent is not hard, it is impossible. Kids without parents grow up terribly, so everyone should really think twice before having kids, now more than ever. Imagine if the person you thought you knew was bstshit the moment you moved in together, but after you had kids. Ooooops!
I agree with your thoughts regarding Mary and Lucy- they don't know Matt's girlfriend and after a brief introduction, they "hate" her. I mean, what is their hate based on? The fact that she drives a Mustang? Her relationship with Matt?
Maybe it's the artist in me, but if my kid drew this on his or her bedroom wall, even if I said not to, I might actually be impressed enough to let them keep it and then enroll them in an art class. But that's just me.
I can see people giving leeway to their kid if they haven't been told the rules about not drawing on the walls or anything else when they know that paper is the only thing they can color on but it's different when a kid knows the rules. By letting a kid break one rule then it won't be long before they start breaking other rules.
If this was a black family show, and the mom saw that on the wall; it would of been grounds getting a beating. I remember when I wrote on walls and got in trouble.
Joanne was OK. But I don’t think she was wrong at the end of the episode to tell Mary and Lucy that she wouldn’t have treated them the way they treated her. The perfectionist was too over the top though.

Who doesn't tell their parents they hate them my mum said, Oh, well, I really, really, really love you, with a big smile on her face. I didn't mean it. And that age it was because I didn't get my way. When I was older, I thought I did as we had different opinions, and told her I meant it but we are very close and we always made up
You will regret it one day you said that to your mum will passed away because of it you said that to your mum god will take your mum away from you to teach you a lesson in life. That's what happened to me I was little girl I regret it everyday I never said it every again.
I don't know what's worse... Having your own child saying 'I hate you!' straight to your face... Or having them calling you a dummy when escorting him/her upstairs like in 'Home Alone' All I can say is... Unbelievably Disrespectful!!! If I we're in either Ruthie's or Kevin McCallister's situation and I said the same things they did, I would be dead immediately!!! My parents taught me to respect them and others. For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ - Matthew 15:4 NIV
I can't believe Annie was so hurt by that lol. I must have hated my parents (who I'm very close with, by the way) a million times when I was that age lol.
But did you ever say you hated your parents out loud to them? All kids have thoughts and feelings like that but saying you hate someone out load does hurt especially parents. You would feel different if a parent told their kid at any age they hate them.
I would not fight with my mom. but, from time to time if she makes me mad, I would sit down and, talk about it or' I make a list of things that my mom does that makes me mad and, after I am done I read it to her like sometimes, she doesn't excuse me if I disobey her because, of my grandmother and, I had promised my mom and, my grandmother a long time ago that I would not fight with Momo Audrey but, there was never a time where I had told my mom that I don't like her...
Ruthie got caught mural color.on her room annie upset ruthie tell annie she hates annie and tell Simon get out of his and ruthies room ruthie apologize to annie hates annie real hurts her feels and Simon pays his visitor to his classroom.
If this show thinks words hurt, just imagine what the people who made this shows reaction to what Stephen Collins did to teenage girls in the 70s. was.
I don't know why everyone is saying this show is over-dramatic. How? I know Ruthie said she hates her and that hurts especially for a mother. How is her crying being over-dramatic?

You will regret it one day you said that to your mum will passed away because of it you said that to your mum god will take your mum away from you to teach you a lesson in life. That's what happened to me I was little girl I regret it everyday I never said it every again.
Classic line I’ll get to you two later.
4 bedroom house 9 people with an office downstairs
Ruthie the queen. Simon the new looks.
I don't know what's worse... Having your own child saying 'I hate you!' straight to your face...
Or having them calling you a dummy when escorting him/her upstairs like in 'Home Alone'
All I can say is... Unbelievably Disrespectful!!! If I we're in either Ruthie's or Kevin McCallister's situation and I said the same things they did, I would be dead immediately!!! My parents taught me to respect them and others.
For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’
- Matthew 15:4 NIV
Yes, it's a very long story: It's her teddy bear.
Indogene Doctor huey is actually her imaginary friend
Indogene Doctor It was her imaginary friend
I can't believe Annie was so hurt by that lol. I must have hated my parents (who I'm very close with, by the way) a million times when I was that age lol.
But did you ever say you hated your parents out loud to them? All kids have thoughts and feelings like that but saying you hate someone out load does hurt especially parents. You would feel different if a parent told their kid at any age they hate them.
Saying I hate you is an attack
And some people find this tv show annoying because it shows perfect family which would never exist, they didn’t see the whole series
Happy dog on 7th show please bring me same anytime
I would not fight with my mom. but, from time to time if she makes me mad, I would sit down and, talk about it or' I make a list of things that my mom does that makes me mad and, after I am done I read it to her like sometimes, she doesn't excuse me if I disobey her because, of my grandmother and, I had promised my mom and, my grandmother a long time ago that I would not fight with Momo Audrey but, there was never a time where I had told my mom that I don't like her...
You told!
Somebody flagged this video and I had to sign in to confirm my age so I could watch it. :/
At least she only said she hated her mom. My oldest told me she wished I was dead and meant it

If this show thinks words hurt, just imagine what the people who made this shows reaction to what Stephen Collins did to teenage girls in the 70s. was.
Simon got the homework done
“Hate her”. I wonder if that phrase inspired That’s So Raven. Lol
I like this show but Mary and Lucy were responsible for teaching Ruthie the word Hate.
I don't know why everyone is saying this show is over-dramatic. How? I know Ruthie said she hates her and that hurts especially for a mother. How is her crying being over-dramatic?
Annie convince Ruthie take the swimming on the pool
Annie gets upsets when Ruthie says she hates Annie she colors her room Simon convince Eric he's get into her neighbor's house for class presention.

Shame on Mary and Lucy Ruthy is to young to know any better but the other 2 are old enough you shouldn't judge a book by its cover
Don't allow children to graffiti at home, because walls and children don't mix.

I love Annie's reaction when ruthie tells her off.
She shouldn't did what she did
If I ever said this to my mother, she would give me a reason to hate her.
