- We did our best to show you how natural it is when we make a video. From the minute we arrived home. Tico loves this moment to sing along at every chance. This bonding has become part of our routine’s capturing these moments. It never get old watching him perform. Yes, his vocabulary is limited but whatever he sings comes out with pure passion. Thank you all for watching and sharing your comments. We try to read to them all. ☺️

I don't feel totally comfortable about wild animals that are trained to entertain in a circus but what Frank & Gina have achieved with Tico is fantastic - providing an environment where he can be himself & simply live his best life. Thank you for sharing & spreading the joy!💖

Remember life in nature is harsh and short. "Flying free" is a human projection upon the life of birds. Tico is happy, healthy, well-fed and a joy to us all . He has no way of "yearning" for a life struggling with a mate to raise chicks. He's diggin it.@@dogg440

He's not forced, trapped or coerced in any way.
He sings and entertains for the joy of it when he wants to because he wants to and on his terms.
It would be sad if one day Tico decided he's over it, but if that ever happened there's no doubt mum and dad would be ok with that too because they love him and want him to be happy and that's why I enjoy watching and listening.

Tico: I am the vocalist, and you, Frank Frank Frank, are just the guitar man! But he has a right, because he’s preternaturally talented (and seems to know it). It’s very interesting to see how he greets you when you come home, is eager to leave the cage on Gina’s hand, and is ready to sing immediately without doing any scales or warm-up exercises! Music is his life, just as it was for Bach and Mozart!

Tico you rock and I have a permanent smile when you perform. Love to all of you for keeping us amused.
Nearly 40 years ago my journey with parrots started. My US Navy husband was allergic to cats and dogs so I was at a local very old feed store in California where I discovered an imported open banded not hand tamed cherry head conure. That was 35 years ago. I hand tamed him, there were no other birds in my house for more than a year where I started working with him. It took 6 months to hand tame him. Everyday he’d put one foot on my finger while the other foot was on his training stick. I do recommend all larger parrots be stick trained where anyone can move the bird without getting bitten. I use the step up or footy up command. So when I adopted a nearly 40 year old CAG he had never been asked to step on to a training stick and was afraid. Unfortunately our CAG can be very devious and learned to bite. So it took me nearly 10 years to get him ti step up on the training stick. Now anyone including me can use a training stick to move a bird out of or into his cage as well as if he’s on the floor. That and not allowing a parrot to have their head higher than the human companion. I’ve had up to 4 in my flock. My two smaller birds have passed away so I’m working with my 33y/o B&G macaw and my nearly 40 y/o Congo grey now. I don’t recommend a large macaw as a starter bird. It takes experience and a lot of work and often the bird will end up locked in cages BC they’ve bitten someone and now they’re afraid to handle them. This is bad for both the bird and the human. IMO one must handle their birds every day and interact closely with them. My macaw likes to lay upside down on her shelf and wants me to tickle her. She’s learned how to handle my fingers gently. I can place my finger or thumb in her beak now without hurting me. I use the “touch nice please” when she starts to get a bit rough. Let’s face it macaws can play hard and they’ve got the equipment to hurt. Once they learn biting to manipulate people it’s hard to turn back, it’s just putting in the time to earn their trust so they never feel threatened in any way and that your close with your bird every day. Love watching Tico do his rain dance! My macaw also likes to sing but she’s a little quieter just humming softly to herself. She can hit a note dead on key. My severe macaw was flat and my conures voice was sharp. Rio can sing in key everytime. 🙂😎🦜
I love the little "BAYYYY-BAAAY!" trill he does at the end of a line - The vibrato in that 'Baby!" is just like a karaoke singer!
Tico's bond with his human parents is a privilege to see. He is wonderful, a little star who has put smiles on countless faces around the world via TH-cam. Thank you for sharing your ray of sunshine with us.

This is wonderful. My parrot, a Vosmori Eclectus is 23 and My husband and I picked him up in Santa Fe, New Mexico when he was 6 months old. He was born in Key Largo, and we paid for him before he hatched. My husband dies 2 years ago in the pandemic, but I have my boy.

My sons dad was in a few band. He started as a drummer and taught himself to play guitar, a lefty, he played like hendrix.
Anyway.... I would sit for hours and listen to him learn chords of songs. Sometimes repeated alot while learning.
Teach him the same way... a line a day, over and over. till he nails it!... jmho

It's interesting that Tico likes to sing and pace around whereas other parrots "dance" or bob to the music. It makes you wonder about his early years with his first owners and what they did or didn't do with him.
She moved to England and we never heard from her again. We didn’t discover this until 2020 and Tico’s been with us since 2002🎉
