I can imagine there being bizarre planet sized hyperstructures of unknown origin. Structures so large, so unbelievable, so devoid of conciessness, that one cannot wander whitin and stay unchanged.
the devourer an anomalous artificial moon. going into its depths captures you into a gravity well that prevents all upward motion. the only possible space geometry leads down. further in you are sped up faster and faster traveling through and across and into the moon until eventually you reach a great gaping mouth.
