Unity was the one and only AC i pre ordered. And got burned hard. Looking back... Now after 100+ patches my opinion of it changed a lot. It was the last AC when I actually was invested in the story :D
Unity is all about trying to find peace between Assassins & Templar, that's what De La Sere (Elise father) trying to accomplish, also Mirabeau has the same idea.. then both got killed due to trying accomplish the Idea...
I played all of the Assassin's Creed games and I can say for sure that this game had one of the best concepts for story, only if the game have stayed in development for at least one more year , this could've been one of the best Assassin's Creed Games

He also mentioned that Arno's father, Charles Dorian, in which he quoted "Golden urine of life is poured into her by Father the Sun" , which implies the birth of Arno Dorian. Only De la Serre knows the secret of Arno's birth.
I liked AC Odyssey for the first month I played it, but now I really want Assassin's Creed to go back to the good old days of true Assassin's Creed games like this.

Honestly, besides the buggy launch, this game was amazing. May be my second favorite behind AC:BF as unpopular of an opinion as that might be. Yeah. Lots of bugs that were eventually smoothed over but beyond that, the combat was challenging again and I missed that. Graphics were beautiful. Story was great. Nothing amazing. Nothing along the lines of Ezio but far from a bore. Parkour, movement throughout the city was fantastic. The coop was the first and is still the only one of it's kind and added an interest twist to being an assassins as part of a group. It was always fun to see how much better of an assassin you were when compared to the others in your brotherhood. With the games slowly becoming more arcade, less real, less of a challenge and extremely bloated (which AC:Unity was as well), I do miss the games of old.

Unity is actually my first assassin's creed game and I am so happy that I played it. The game is beautiful as hecc but the story is a bit lacking tho. The characters and their relationship with each other is amazing👌✨
You would have found story more enjoyable if you'd have played all the previously parts . It's not connected to kenway trio not ezio or Altair. But you'd have known what assassins really are. And what's the overall plot. ;)

Unity was the last AC game I played. But I recently started playing Syndicate and will jump into Origins and Odyssey after, in that order. But am I seeing things or does Unity look WAY BETTER than Syndicate? I played Unity back at launch and don't remember it looking this dang good. Syndicate looks good with the style it has, being set in London, but not this good.

It’s kinda funny. Unity is the only ac game I played with French. I didn’t play 2, brotherhood or revelation in Italian, nor odyssey in Greek. And the French dub is super cool. Like genuinely good and suitable in every situation(like free roaming not just cutscenes) It’s fresh for me to see the cutscenes with English dub tho. PS: Elise is genuinely pissed cuz according to novel, she is on the way to save Arno during the mess and only see Arno take the leap of faith(which made her believe Arno joined assassin prior the death of her father.)
Ah yes, the 18th century where every Frenchmen had English and Scottish accents. I don't even speak French, but putting the audio on French made the game 10x better for me.
The foundation of Unity had a lot of potential, it's just that the story couldn't do it proper justice. The forbidden love could've been explored as a parallel to Altair and Maria instead of the focus being a soap opera rip-off of Ezio's love story. Arno was a whiny bitch throughout the WHOLE game, at least make him a full fledged Assassin halfway through. The problem with later AC games is that they've stopped being about Assassins, until the very end of the game.
Unity is one of the only 7 games where you have your hood up at all times (Origins is a bit of a stretch, but the option is still there.) remember that.

Watching this now, I realized that this was only AC that was heading in the right direction, minus the english accent in france but narrative and lore wise, the atmosphere, music, writing, everything was so well done, They did so well introducing the eagle vision as a game mechanic, some AC titles struggles doing that properly but this one manages it so well and how the relationship tension is so well done since AC 2 but with a better templar-assassin relationship, It reallly makes you feel for the charactors and dread later on when you find out about their associations, although it would've been better if it came as a plot twist in the end but the character development is on point.They really need this game's creative-director making the new games and and a little optimization here and there with how the newer titles are coming in, i'm sure AC will be great again but instead they had to wallow this franchise with rpg and pathetic excuse for narrative and made unecessary bugs and glitches with their recent titles for improvised gameplay

I always felt Pierre should have either been the main villain or the player character of the game. He felt much more tied into the feeling and setting of Unity. The angst of the revolution, of the truce between the Assassins and the Templar's. The way he feels in his own mind about how he follows the path of the previous main character and righting something he feel is a betrayal of what the assassins stand for. Arno by comparison, his father is killed in his childhood (by a man who makes his own luck) but he never shows any intention, emotion about it or trying to find out why he was killed or who did it in the game. He walks through the events of the revolution barely reacting to it half the time or just snarking along at it, he barely shows any interest in being a assassin. His whole story, character revolves around Elise, his feelings her and nothing else, there's no arc to him, no development and I really question why Ubisoft made him the main character when it doens't even feel like it's his story, but Elise's. Arno overall feels like a carbon copy of Ezio (he even wore a similar outfit to what Ezio wore at the start of AC2) but with none of the substance, charisma and actually plot threads that made Ezio's story feel investing into.
It makes sense why he isn't looking he was a young boy that means he didn't have a really big bond he may have said that he would find the killer and kill him but he is a child and children realistically forget about that and even if he was trying to find there is no evidence of who killed his father and that causes alot of confusion but other than that u are right they should have improved th story but really for me when I play a game I think more about the mechanics than of the stroy so it really didn't bother me that much and the mechanics were quite good so we're the graphics

While he seemingly made a change in the revolution, it doesnt feel like he actually cares and he feels like he barely accomplishes anything for himself. So uh, why is he the main character?

@thomas brady ezio was a classical era assassin. I think the assassin/templar order all fits in around classical and ancient era. More modern era games with assassins in just dont fit as well since we have good records of modern history. But classical and ancient history is a bit of a mystery and so the integration of ezio and the assassins fits so perfectly.

Why did Arno’s father have to die? After the prologue showed Arno to be Charles Dorian’s son, I figured that the story would be about finding his fathers killer(shay), but nope Elise’s father gets killed and now all of a sudden Arno just doesn’t care about the death of his father at all and now he’s focused avenging the death of Elise’s dad. Why kill Charles Dorian? It was pointless
I HATED Unity. They setup the best, most well developed romance in the whole damn series (IMHO), then kill Elise off simply for the shock value. Speaking as a writer, you NEVER do that. Doing shocking things to drive the plot forward, sure. You do it sparingly, because while occasional shocks keep an audience engaged constant shocks turn it into unreadable chaos and/or numb the audience's ability to care. Spending 3/4 a book to build up a pairing only to end it for shock value makes the reader not want to keep reading because they now are asking themselves what else about the story was a pointless setup? What else that they've spent the whole book learning to care about will get the axe for no real reason but to get a rise out of them? Why should they care about anything if everything is on the chopping block?
Couldn't agree more. I'm no writer, but that shock value death at the very end made no sense at all. I was sooo invested in Elise & Arno, they could have brought the Assassins and Templars together in... what's the word... UNITY! That cheap shock was the moment I gave up on AC once and for all (I already had to gave it a second chance after Desmond's death).

Damn... Watching this now, I realized that this was only AC that was heading in the right direction, minus the english accent in france but narrative and lore wise, the atmosphere, music, writing, everything was so well done, They did so well introducing the eagle vision as a game mechanic, some AC titles struggles doing that properly but this one manages it so well and how the relationship tension is so well done since AC 2 but with a better templar-assassin relationship, It reallly makes you feel for the charactors and dread later on when you find out about their associations, although it would've been better if it came as a plot twist in the end but the character development is on point.They really need this game's creative-director making the new games and and a little optimization here and there with how the newer titles are coming in, i'm sure AC will be great again but instead they had to wallow this franchise with rpg and pathetic excuse for narrative and made unecessary bugs and glitches with their recent titles for improvised gameplay

I liked Unity
I always felt Pierre should have either been the main villain or the player character of the game. He felt much more tied into the feeling and setting of Unity. The angst of the revolution, of the truce between the Assassins and the Templar's. The way he feels in his own mind about how he follows the path of the previous main character and righting something he feel is a betrayal of what the assassins stand for. Arno by comparison, his father is killed in his childhood (by a man who makes his own luck) but he never shows any intention, emotion about it or trying to find out why he was killed or who did it in the game. He walks through the events of the revolution barely reacting to it half the time or just snarking along at it, he barely shows any interest in being a assassin. His whole story, character revolves around Elise, his feelings her and nothing else, there's no arc to him, no development and I really question why Ubisoft made him the main character when it doens't even feel like it's his story, but Elise's. Arno overall feels like a carbon copy of Ezio (he even wore a similar outfit to what Ezio wore at the start of AC2) but with none of the substance, charisma and actually plot threads that made Ezio's story feel investing into.
It makes sense why he isn't looking he was a young boy that means he didn't have a really big bond he may have said that he would find the killer and kill him but he is a child and children realistically forget about that and even if he was trying to find there is no evidence of who killed his father and that causes alot of confusion but other than that u are right they should have improved th story but really for me when I play a game I think more about the mechanics than of the stroy so it really didn't bother me that much and the mechanics were quite good so we're the graphics
Wow im 3 years late seeing ur comment even though i already watched this vid around the same time. I agree, arno's entire character is basically wanting to live with elise and nothing else. While he seemingly made a change in the revolution, it doesnt feel like he actually cares and he feels like he barely accomplishes anything for himself. So uh, why is he the main character?

@thomas brady He is not though. He has many flaws I guess that's why I like him. And that I'm Italian I feel a bit if a connection to his roots. But I did notice in odyssey that they used his theme instead of coming up with new music it annoyed me
@thomas brady ezio was a classical era assassin. I think the assassin/templar order all fits in around classical and ancient era. More modern era games with assassins in just dont fit as well since we have good records of modern history. But classical and ancient history is a bit of a mystery and so the integration of ezio and the assassins fits so perfectly.

I remeber Unity at launch, a buggy mess and patches were flying in daily not fixing it, after a dew days i ditched it and left it for a few mounths until the dead kings DLC came out, then i downloaded it and played it.

Glitchy as this game was, it really was quite pretty.
A decent game, really good looking but the Characters were weak. Arno is probably the worst Assassin, even Connor was better and that's saying a lot.

Why did Arno’s father have to die? After the prologue showed Arno to be Charles Dorian’s son, I figured that the story would be about finding his fathers killer(shay), but nope Elise’s father gets killed and now all of a sudden Arno just doesn’t care about the death of his father at all and now he’s focused avenging the death of Elise’s dad. Why kill Charles Dorian? It was pointless

I HATED Unity. They setup the best, most well developed romance in the whole damn series (IMHO), then kill Elise off simply for the shock value.
Speaking as a writer, you NEVER do that. Doing shocking things to drive the plot forward, sure. You do it sparingly, because while occasional shocks keep an audience engaged constant shocks turn it into unreadable chaos and/or numb the audience's ability to care. Spending 3/4 a book to build up a pairing only to end it for shock value makes the reader not want to keep reading because they now are asking themselves what else about the story was a pointless setup? What else that they've spent the whole book learning to care about will get the axe for no real reason but to get a rise out of them? Why should they care about anything if everything is on the chopping block?
Couldn't agree more. I'm no writer, but that shock value death at the very end made no sense at all. I was sooo invested in Elise & Arno, they could have brought the Assassins and Templars together in... what's the word... UNITY! That cheap shock was the moment I gave up on AC once and for all (I already had to gave it a second chance after Desmond's death).
This game was actually really good the parkour and story was good but it got killed by shitty graphical glitches and bugs
