  • Another Dewalt DCH273 brushless sds drill in for repair. Get a lot of these in for repair, but we also sell quite a lot.
They are extremely popular cordless sds drills, and anyone on the dewalt platform probably has one.
They are a solid drill and very comfortable to use. They do see a lot of work, and they have a good hammer action.
But they are not without their faults.
They are basically the same design are the old nicad 24v sds drill. same layout and gearbox.
when dewalt tool out the brushes 18v lithium sds drill, they simply took the 24v gearbox and fitted and new motor and body.
This was fine, as the power and speed were roughly the same.
But when they took out the brushless motor, they again used the same components in the gearbox. The brushless motor is simply too powerful on some of the components, and they eventually fatigue and fail.
Dewalt took a lazy approach and checked the tolerances of the components with the extra power from a brushless motor.
The parts that fail are, the cam shaft shearing, the con rod snapping, the hammer pipe ring spring clip failing, and the piston drying out.
But it is worth noting that they normally do quite a lot of work before these parts fail.
And as a while, they are a good drill, as they are easily ams cheaply repaired again.

I took mine apart fixed what I saw was a dodgy live wire spade connector but I've come to put it back and I have a little spring attached to what looks similar to a rivet any idea where this goes?

That is the battery retainer spring. It pushes back on the battery retainer to keep the battery ingaged during operations.
It simply pushes in-between the housing and the back of the battery contacts retainer. You will have to open it again to fit it, or simply leave it out. Will still work fine without it

There’s another one that looks like a bobby-pin and that one goes right beside the hook and it helps the hook not to slide out or slide in by it self.

@0:05 The drill bit weeble wobbles like my Dewalt DCH263B ( 6 weeks old, no chipping use yet ) Would you consider this normal? makes it hard to place the anchor hole precisely as the bit wants to dance around the Qdeck surface first, also makes less than an ideal seal around the bristles of the DWH205DH Dust Extractor allowing larger dust chunks to fall through. I can see the chuck by itself is clearly wobbling, my drill bits are new and clearly not the problem. Also, what kind of grease is ideal for these tools?

It’s a Bosch heavy grease you can find it online it’s bosch’s spec’d out grease for their hammers and equivalent to all the other manufacturers works well in hammers
