Many teach igbo spirituality in ibo.....its also vital for igbo spirituality to be taught and preached in English too to showcase odinala to the world especially those who dont grasp ibo well.....The great commission and assignment now is to make Igbo spirituality attractive and understandable to the world.....so they stop fighting it.....understand it.....and return to it !!!!!!!

I really love what you are doing here. Many of our Dibias are not well educated enough to make their own researches into certain concepts taught to them to find out why things are the way they are. I appreciate your work here educating people, especially the up coming ones to know the truth and not get cut up in the confusion out there.
I believe in my experience that Agwu is what the Christians would call the Holy Spirit; the Spirit with the knowledge of Chukwu’s mind, knower of all things, patron of divination, medicine and the force of creativity.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. It is my joy to promote the Igbo culture.
And yes, Agwu can be likened to what the Christians call the Holy Spirit, that is if you look at it from the angle that Agwu is the closest we can get in deciphering the uncreated creator. However, if you look at Agwu from the biblical definition of the Holy Spirit being the comforter it will not capture what the Igbos call Agwu.
Agwu is the revealer of knowledge. This is the meaning of Agwu Isi Ora. What has been bastardised in Igbo and some people now call it Agwu Nsi. So, you see, if Agwu is seen as the revealer of knowledge then it comes close again to what the Christians call Holy Spirit.

Everything in the universe is connected to Agwu, including science. Agwu is the teacher. It is Agwu that helps one to demystify nature.

If you say that Agwu isn't a spirit, that means that it is not an energy that can be channeled. On that part, you are wrong. It is like saying that Chi is not a spirit. Chi and Agwu share quite a lot in common, but they are not the same. Agwu deals with Agwa, while Chi is the life force of Agwa. Agwu is a deity. Deity = Spirit = Energy = Something that can be channeled, which points to the fact that Agwu is the GENIUS that dwells in every human. And to activate it, you have to channel it. Some parents channel the Agwu of their kids, when they were very young. It is Agwu that created Ronaldo and Messi. The Igbo form of Baptism is IRU AGWU, which is something that is supposed to be done for a child. IRU AGWU is to discover your GENIUS. There are different variations of Agwu. We have Agadi Agwu, Oke Agwu, Nne Agwu and many others. WE also have mythologies of Agwu. Agwu is universal cosmic wisdom = Agwu Ishi Oha. The Yorubas call him Orumila. It is the messenger of CHUKWU, and it has been manifested in many Igbo mystery systems as Okpoko Nwe Enu or Utu Udele Igwe. Agwu bu Anwu. In Igbo astronomy, it is the planet Mercury, and the Gemini constellation is Ijite Agwu. It is Agwu that the Ancient Egyptians called Thoth / TEHUTI = the master teacher. The Greeks called him Hermes.

Hello Ugoebenaja, thanks for your contribution.
I gave an explanation of the context I said Agwu is not a spirit. I said, it is not a spirit in form(human form). By this, I mean, it is formless. Being formless does not mean it is devoid of energy. Every life force obviously has energy. In other words, every life force has Agwu. The degree is what makes the difference.

@@Ezeikolomuo , Nwannem, every energy/spirit takes on the form of human. Agwu is wisdom. The Yoruba God of Wisdom is depicted as a human deity, his name is Orumila. We have various deities that embody what Agwu is. One of them is Agwu Ishi Oha, which is what was bastardized as Agwu Nsi. Agwu and Ikenga also have alot in common. Ikenga deals with human motif force, while Agwu deals with our intelligence. For example, Agwu likes to take on the form of a female being. Very well explained in the mysteries of Nne Agwu, as the old woman of wisdom in Uga Aka. Her wisdom was what birthed Afa Akpukpala Ugili, which is why Afa and Agwu are 5 and 6. Afa bu Uche. Agwu bu Uche. The Greeks copied her as Sophia, the mother of wisdom. Actually, the term Sophia means wisdom. In Igbo, we have the debt of it as Agwu = the infinite spark of wisdom. AKONUCHE AGWU AGWU. Just like the term ANWU ANWU = infinite light, which explains the true meaning of the sun. A deathless light that existed before humans and still will exist after humans. My point is that you have to realize that the energy forces all dwell within us humans. And this is what the ancestors of Uga Aka taught. And this is why they manifest them with carving woods. It is not Arusi, it is Agbala. Arusi is a shrine, an Obi, cosmic potent house of the Ancestors = AKWU ULULU USHI. What I am saying is that Agbala all apear in human form, as well as in other forms, such as trees, animals, and rivers. Energy/spirit takes on any form that it chooses. The zoomorphic form of Agwu is Agunkwo or Udele, also Ugo. These birds can fly extremely close to the sun, and look into the sun, thus the ancestors (Ndi Ushi / Eshi / Nshi) used those birds as a totem of the pineal Intelligence Gland, which is the dwelling place of Agwu in our minds. Agwu bu Ose Ora, Anya eji Afu mmuo. Please understand this.

@@UGOEBENAJA what you have just explained is what Agwu means to you. What I explained in my video is what Agwu means to me. I have come to understand Agwu as endlessness, if it is endless, it is formless. What has no known beginning or end obviously cannot have form.
Understand that i cannot but teach what I have come to know as my own truth as I was taught by own spiritual teachers. May your truth guide and work for you as I hope mine will do same for me as we walk the ancient path. Dalu.

@@Ezeikolomuo , there's no such thing as my truth and your truth. You still didn't get what I explained, and you decided to split truths. Lol. Truth is truth, my brother. There's your truth and their truth and then there is the TRUTH. You said Agwu is formless. You said in your video that Agwu isn't a spirit. I accidently ran into this video, while watching somethings else. What I am telling you is that CHI, whch is energy/spirit is formless, but then it takes on the form of everything, and then in the case of Agwu, it takes on the form of a specific bird, tree or river. Realize that all energy/spirit are formless forces that takes on things, which includes humans. And this is what made an Agwu a deity. Just like all deities cannot function without Agwu. So you will always hear of Agwu Urashi, Agwu Udo, Agwu Ikenga, Agwu this and Agwu that. It is explaining the wisdom and messaging spirit of that deity. And it is usually female in nature. Agwu is female. And it can also be Androgynous, as it often comes as Nwanyi and Nwoke or Nne na Okpara. Common, brother. This is not my truth. This is Igbo truth. Lol
I didn't comment to harm your ego. I came to correct my brother that made a mistake in his teaching video. I support what you do, and I wish that we can sit down some day and have an in-debt conversation about Igbo Spirituality.

By the way, there is no uniformed Igbo explanation of what Agwu is. So if what Agwu means to you makes sense to you please with all pleasure stick to it. Mine, makes more sense to me.
Truth has different interpretations to it. In the end, the various interpretations will certainly converge at the door step of freedom. If it ends at the door step of prison then it is not truth.

The sole reason a person incarnated this physical realm is to fulfill a life purpose. As a human being, you don’t own yourself. You either fulfill why you are here voluntarily or the hard way. Let me liken this misconception of Agwu to obtaining a visa to a country for example. Remember, during a visa interview in any embassy, you are asked why you want to visit the country. Well then, if you are granted a visa based on what you agreed as your purpose for visiting and an agreed duration of stay, do you then come into that country and do otherwise? No, I doubt it cos if you do otherwise, your visa will be canceled and you would be sent back to your home country. This is what is applicable with each individual in this life. You are here to fulfill your destiny and it usually involves serving humanity at different capacities. When it’s time, Agwu shows up to remind you with what you see as torment.
