Bitcoin Q&A: Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

- "Satoshi Nakamoto" is the pseudonym used by the person(s) who created Bitcoin. We do not know who they are, whether they are still alive, whether it was more than one person, whether they were a 'good person' or a 'bad person.' Geometric proofs and Euclid's identity. You know parallel lines don't intersect in a three-dimensional space because when you studied the proofs in school, you started from certain axioms, and if they were violated there was an absurd outcome. The axioms hold true not because Euclid told us they do, but because we have independently verified their truth. Bitcoin works not because Satoshi Nakamoto said so, but because we have independently verified the operations underpinning it and continue to use it ourselves. It does not matter who Satoshi is, any more than it matters who Euclid is.

Satoshi Nakamoto solved an incredibly difficult problem of logic and mathematics, and did so in a way that has the potential to free all mankind from the depredations of the money changers. It may in time come to be regarded as the Magna Carta of money. That he did so anonymously only adds to the selfless nobility of the accomplishment.

At the beginning of Bitcoin everyone was using his real name. Hal Finney was Hal Finney for example. Same for Satoshi Nakamoto. He was using his real name at the beginning.

Its sad that Hal Finney died, he is/was Satoshi I assume together with Nick Szabo, Also I think Dorian was in the ''think-group'', not possible they chose the name coincidently while Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto lived in the same small town as Hal Finney. Together they deserve the credit anyway, even if its not completely acurate. Brilliant minds in an uncomprehensively complex world.

I mean most exchanges are asking for ID now. And they basically set up centrally. Because... they store that information on a database no?
So how is it decentralised?
you can send BTC from your wallet to somebody else's wallet without going through an exchange. plus you can cash in/out without going through an exchange or ID verification by localbitcoins or similar peer-to-peer exchanges.

So what has happened is developers and/or investors come together and create what we call an exchange to solve proposed accessibility gap for people who wouldn’t take the time to own and save their keys and coin.
The problem is that this defeats the ultimate goal and revolution in Bitcoin. A centralized system run by exchanges keeps them incharge if your keys (think wallet/ vault ) by keeping them in charge of your keys.
If they get hacked, your keys and that of everyone using the exchange gets compromised.

Exchanges defeats the goal of literacy and ownership.
Exchanges are not decentralized. They are running a centralized system to provide you financial option similar to what banks represent. They have to know who you are to “save” your money (cryptocurrency) especially as they are primarily a business.
It’s up to you to make the decision of using an exchange (bank) or being your own bank.

Bad example. In geometry, the parallel postulate, also called Euclid's fifth postulate because it is the fifth postulate in Euclid's Elements, is a distinctive axiom, and not a proof. You can even define geometries that throw away this postulate. These geometries are so important that without them Einstein would have been unable to develop General Relativity.

It matters if Satoshi is 90 vs 19. If he (or his estate) has to dump coins to pay estate taxes - at +40% if from USA it will impact the price of bitcoin.

Satoshi Nakamoto has 1 Million of the 21 Million Bitcoin. He will be one of the richest people on the planet, so it makes sense he doesn’t want to be known.
Key difference: At that point in time, people knew who Euclid was and about his work. The information was publicly available. This is not the case with Nakamoto, so the analogy doesn't work.

I think anyone that understands who is in control of the world also understands that they want a society that banks digitally with no hard currency. Knowing this, let’s look at what they are concerned about right now. They are mainly focusing on climate issues and crypto. Do we not think it’s possible that all this is leading up to one mother crypto that they ultimately control on the back end? Let’s look at the cameras and facial recognition that is counting you and measuring your tracks etc. it’s a slippery slope. A better alternative is to just do away with central banks and educate all nations on building their own monetary policies with their own hard currency. This is what many believe we have today but in actuality we have one mother bank that regulated most of the nations.

I disagree with Andreas. It matters who created Bitcoin and who is behind all that. Think of the possibility the bankers to be behind... then guess what, no one will believe in decentralization for example. That whole story with the unknown founder stink..
