I happened to be flipping through channels on Pluto TV a couple days ago when I caught the tail end of Episode 7 of CS. I’ve known about The Thunderbirds for years but never heard of Captain Scarlet. I instantly fell in love with it just like I did Thunderbirds, but more so because it’s more gritty and the puppets have realistic proportions. Captain Blue is my favorite.
This is the most Captain Scarlet thing I've ever heard! I also like the other colours being mentioned, I always assumed there'd be a Captain Orange, Khaki, Navy, Fuschia, Etc...
I'd be very suspicious of Captain Pink.

Bonkers though it it, it’s a very “Anderson” thing to do. Really shows the level of detail they put into their products (in this case the comic). Inventing an in-universe reason for mundane admin delays. Genius 😎👍

Apparently i was the youngest 'Shade' with my membership starting when i was 2 months old.
My daddy and I both loved/ still love Thunderbirds, but I was never able to watch Captain Scarlet. The characters looked like scary mannequins to me (childhood phobia). I never liked shopping in department stores for the same reason. 😱
If you guys ever consider doing more Captain Scarlet audios for Big Finish, I suggest doing one with Captain Purple. (Yes, my favourite colour is purple.)

That`s a genius plot twist to bring the shades annyoance levels down,though i had every TV21 i don`t recall this,but kids tv in the 60s was the best ever,we were spoiled,blessed actually,and we could always count on Gerry Anderson.
A interesting piece of TV21 comics, apparently there was some sort of TV21 diary, that there was a ending for captain scarlet in a way. 10 or so years after the Mysterions started the war, they would sign a treaty on earth to stop the war. Captain black was apparently there. And the war ended. I found this on a fan site for captain scarlet
There was a comic strip in TV21 where a scientist devises a way to curb the Mysteron's power of retrometabolism. Scarlet flies to Mars and uses it on them, killing Black for good and forcing the Mysterons to leave Mars.
In one of the late 1960's Captain Scarlet Annuals, they had a character called Major Emerald, and in one of the comic strips in one of those books, they had Lieutenants Brass/Gold?Sepia :-)
anyone watching have one of these, its the first I have heard of it ! Wish I had known. Did send off for the Warlord ID and badge etc, still have it in the loft lol.

So how high do you have to get in Spectrum to earn the badass cap? Always wanted one of those, though when I was a kid I had an IR hat which is just as good. All the hats and uniforms in Gerry Anderson shows were good.

The first time I ever saw that colour-coded British map was on page 128 of "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons: The Vault", and it is a very interesting map; and it inspired me to create my artwork of British and Irish Spectrum Agents. Hmm, interesting. So Spectrum would reuse colours and issue them to new/replacement staff members. Would that mean that we would have got a new Captain Brown? BTW I'd have been under Captain Blue's area (which was also STV's broadcasting area). Wonder why they mixed seen and unseen Spectrum staff? RSM Barley signing out.
Captain Blue was our commander.
Just as well i never applied as where we lived is on the border between purple and pink so who knows who'd have dealt with my application in the mix up after purples death 😃
Seriously, they certainly had no issues back then killing of characters randomly as they felt fit, something they'd never so now as it would probably set by off not only kids but trigger half the internet into aperplexy 😂
So, exactly how many known Spectrum agents were there?
I was disappointed to discover I'm also under Captain Khaki, then I realized I'm not sure what colour khaki is so consulted the map.... My colour blindness can't make head nor tale of that colour... So I guess I'm happy under Captain Undefined.
Khaki is the dark sand green thing that the military use. Bit of a naff one, it would be like getting Captain Beige.

Does that map not divide the country up in the same way as the ITV regions were divided in 1967 (albeit with the English/Scottish border used instead of the Border/ Tyne Tees/ STV boundaries, and no split for London)? Were the ITV franchises responsible in some way for administering the Spectrum Shades?

Somehow Captain Purple's death is very much in keeping with the storyline of the series. Honestly, the chance of this sort of thing happening now is next to nil!
Captain Purple's flamboyance always made Captain Scarlet very uncomfortable.
