Video Suggestion: You're probably the best youtuber for explaining the biomechanics of correct form that I've ever found. I would really love if you could do a video on how to do a perfect dumbbell squat. I know everyone prefers barbells and goblet but some of us for various reasons can only use dumbbells. I was actually pretty surprised you hadn't done a video on them prior. Big fan.

I'm currently working on my corrective exercise specialization and I must say it goes hand and hand with my barbell obsession . Awesome quality content!

Yet again! Exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for the conscientious attention to camera angles to make sure we see clearly what the proper form should look like. 👏🙏👌

Can we give some appreciation to your core strength and stability? It is no small feat to maintain conversation - especially fully controlled and intelligible conversation - during a tempo squat and prolonged bottom pause. Incredible!

Quick question / request - can you discuss what **causes knee cave? This is a long time struggle of mine, and though I've improved somewhat compared to a couple of years ago, I'd benefit from understanding the causes rather than just the solutions.

The likely culprit for knees caving in during squats (and even running) might be weak glute medius. They are responsible for rotating the hip outward, and therefore stabilizing the hip during the squat-movement. If they are weak, they might give out during a few reps of squatting and then you get that knee caving (hip collapsing inwards), since they fatigue during the set when trying to provide stability but not being strong enough to endure the set. Muscle weakness also causes muscles not to fire properly, so you might give glute activation, esp. the glute medius, before squatting (try it with bodyweight for comparison, with and without glute medius activation) a try.
Hope I could give you an idea what might be your problem and possible what to research for. Could also be an ankle mobility or leg-length discrepancy issue.

What is the actual cause of knee valgus during squats? Seems to happen the heavier people go…what’s the body trying to do when this occurs? Thanks

Still get barefoot as often as possible. Flat feet aren't necessarily a bad thing - it's the strength of the foot that's important.

Can you make a new Video on SplitSquats how the knees should track properly? And are you supposed to push your knee out to the side like in the Squat? Im feeling that my left knee is too far out even tho my whole foot is on the ground ( no 3 points of contact is coming off the floor)...and on my right side i cant get that much out like on my left....but to even this out on my own i am very unsure where and how the knee should track exactly and if i should focus on the knee out to the side?

Will these exercises also help with knee instability? My knees wobble all over the place during the eccentric portion of the squat. The shakiness stops below parallel.

Hey coach, I have an injury that I suspect is periformis syndrome and it’s really irritated when I squat high bar or front squat in heeled lifters (romaleos) I noticed that the extra depth is causing a fair bit of tail tuck/butt wink and I believe this is the issue and what’s irritating the problem. I swapped to my chucks for high bar and found I can still hit depth and remain with a decently upright torso with no issues on the injury. Is it ok to high bar in chucks/flats if you’re mobile enough to do so?

100%. Lifting shoes give you increased dorsiflexion. If you already have that increased flexion (and ESPECIALLY WHEN IT CAUSES PAIN) then flat shoes are 100% appropriate.
