Experts warn the camps - which house tens of thousands of refugees - are now a "ticking time bomb", a fertile breeding ground for Islamic extremism and an ideal hunting ground for ISIS recruiters.
Sky's special correspondent, Alex Crawford, was taken inside the tented communities to speak to some who are held there.

Thanks for the report Sky! The most important part was the ending, exactly why should the Kurdish forces be held accountable for looking after all these foreign citizens that they’re currently detaining within these camps. The Kurdish (Syrian) official is right, these foreign nationals should be handled by their own countries - it’s not really the Kurdish faction’s job to keep looking after foreign nationals that aren’t theirs. They could easily just let them walk out into Syria. At the end, trial your citizens in a liable international court face to face and strip them of their citizenship in court if that is necessary (either in the home country, or an international court) or give them jail time if required in their home countries or be it in Syria. Once served it’s their choice to choose their own lives in the countries they’re able to travel to (the options being very low and only Syria). Obviously Syrian passports being one of the weakest in the world, wouldn’t get them far anyways.
Obviously British readers will feel attacked by all this, but remember again, it’s not the local Kurdish force’s job to look after all these foreign nationals that aren’t theirs. The Kurdish forces themselves do not have their own state nor government, and work autonomously within Syria & Iraq. We are very sure, the UK playing the big game has a tendency to bomb most countries around the world anyways. Let’s not forget for the innocent people killed along these terrorists (just for being in the wrong place and living nearby). Most likely these camps will dissolve in the upcoming years as the Kurdish forces would just repatriate the ex-ISIS families to the Syrian government.
