How good is it though when you’ve hit those weeks by Wednesday, and you can decide to either smash it out, or free wheel the rest of the week? The ADR certainly helps with that. ☺️

The question is how many hours have you had to work. No good doing 12 hours to come away with 100 quid after all expenses.

£500 a week I imagined is easily achievable, if your working 5 days a week. Good video again Neil

Sometimes I get jobs.. after my fuel costs I don't feel I take enough..
But I don't have huge overheads on the CX..
Some customers are very light on what they pay..
    Just ignore them sadly..
I've just finished paying off my van, but by no means was it paid by the work I did 41.000 miles in 5 years.. have a huge loss.. but it happens..
the next 5 years i need vast changes.. So £100 clear a day.. No that's not enough I feel £400 a day might make a better picture..
I have a friend who previously turned up for a job customer pay £80,my friend charge £90.. he walk away from job.. that's just crazy.

Hi Sarah, thanks for this, it is very interesting to hear how others run and plan their business. I do in the region of 45k-50k miles a year. My target in my small van was pretty vat I inoicing at£200 a day now in the bigger van £220. That gives me enough to over my costs, fuel, van, maintenance, insurance, tax, national insurance and a small wage. That's about it. I do live cheaply though. Would you consider being on a video in the future.
      Many thanks
      Neil

Hours worked? While your sitting in your office/van waiting for a job do you consider that your actually working or not. My son can be often up at 7am bidding on jobs and not getting one till tea time It's a 200 mile run and a good 5 hour trip all round (£1 a mile 200 gross £100 net.). 9pm finish and then tramping till the morning. That's a 14 hour day for an approx. £100 net . Have you earned £7.14p an hour on 14 hours or £20 an hour for the 5 hour trip. Answers on a post card please.

thats the job... If your tramping miles from home in a new place, enjoy it... What I find is that having the freedom and not doing the same monotonous commute and 9-5 works for me.. People ask how I drive all the time and my reply is, I dont spend ten hours a week commuting. In 10 hours I can earn £300+

Good day chap where's best place to tramp out in Glasgow or Edinburgh I was up that way last week after doing a late night airport drop and ended up just parking on a back street. And I noticed that when I was trying to get job back south in morning was hard ended up driving towards Newcastle befor I got a hit
So where best place to park to get some good hit on jobs

Hi, I have never been asked that, for glasgow anyway, I would say move approx 3-4miles south to Newton Mearns. My preference when tramping is to find a small industrial estate, and park in front of a business that opens at say 9am. And I am gone by then anyway. Best place to perch in my opinion is halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow, that way you are 30 mins from each city. I tend to favour Bellshill, but the Scottish jobs rarely start untill 09.30. Glasgow nominally has about 30-40 jobs in the morning and less in the afternoon. The rates of pay are normally fairly low as so many drivers come up and their is less comming out.
      All the best
      Neil

Bloody hell. If I only did £100 a day I'd sell up. What a silly question.

Hi Dale, i took the question to mean by net after all costs.

@@neptunecourier It depends on how you work. If you're doing 15 hours a day, 5 days a week, and tramping to cut out dead miles, you should be expecting to smash £100 net every day.
If you do a local job out and a local job home, and have your feet up in front of the tele by early afternoon, you probably won't ever come close.
Area's important too - I imagine everything for you in Scotland is twice as hard as it is for others.

You need to earn £200 a day, expenses are high in this game.
