Testing the Checkme Pro Home Monitor in the Hospital Setting

  • This home monitoring device and Bluetooth blood pressure cuff were sent to us by a company called Wellue for review.
    Link: getwellue.com/...
Because of COVID-19 disease and the millions worldwide who are being treated at home or who are tracking their hypoxia and shortness of breath post hospitalization, it seemed appropriate to review this device. Are these home monitoring devices accurate and how do they compare to hospital equipment. For the record, I received no compensation other than the free device for making this video.
Our assessment was that this device matched exactly what our "professional" hospital electronic vital signs measuring equipment documented. It appears that this little tool is a reliable device for outpatient management and tracking of cardiopulmonary diseases. Interestingly, the capabilities of the device are much broader than just what you see on the video. Sleep apnea monitoring, a pedometer, 3 ways to do EKG monitoring, Holter monitor-like capabilities, smartphone apps, etc. are other potential applications of this device.

Just bought this but mine also has the Glucose Meter.
After ECG hand reading i have a ECG reading of ‘Irregular heart beat’. I can now keep my eye closely on this.
I’m 56 years of age and taking high blood pressure medication, Statins and medication for Ulcerative Colitis.

The nurse did not connect the electrodes as per the manual.
She attached the red electrode as RA (sub/mid right clavicle) and the green electrode as LA (sub/mid left clavicle).
This gives a Lead I vector.
The manual indicates for a lead I vector, attach the electrodes to each wrist. However, where the nurse attached is acceptable if a Lead I vector is intended.
However, the nurse indicated she wanted a Lead II vector, because that's what she selected on the monitor.
This requires the red electrode be attached as LL. Specifically the manual says attach to the lower left abdomen.
I suspect the nurse may have been confused by the fact the electrodes are colored by IEC convention, not AHA (American).
    i.e. IEC : RA= red ; LL= green
The manufacturer is a Chinese company.
The nurse was otherwise all over that monitor, and had obviously played with it a lot.
However, I rarely meet a nurse who comprehends EKG theory and practise fundamentals......nor a doctor.

Did you ever check if the QTc matches one from a professional grade EKG machine?
By the way, there is a second screen for EKG if using the leads (tap bottom of the screen), you can choose wrist placement or chest, may be why QTc was different.

I was already looking at that unit because I’m on Tikosyn 500mcg bid, Toprol XL 100mg bid. I had previously been on the max dose of Flecainide 200mg bid and my QT interval was too wide, so I was switched to Tikosyn. My Electrophysiologist is checking it out. I just can’t afford the $500 price tag right now. The ECG model only is $120.

How did the EKG waveform compare? Less detail than the hospital monitor or ? No surprise that the heart rate is correct.

It does look like a heart block. In my experience it is usually seen in older people kinda weird to se in a young person.

Yep. I am a RT and I at first didn't look to closely but now I see that. Seems a bit young for a AV block.

YOU HOOKED UP THE ELECTRODES WRONG.
It says right in the directions one of the electrodes goes to the top right hand collarbone fleshy side. The other electrode is supposed to go on the bottom left hand abdomen.
You had them both up at the collarbone That's not the way it's supposed to be.
Or you could have taken the electrodes and putting them on the inside of both rests left and right..
That's probably why you got a different QTc
Did anyone read the directions lol

It just records lead I instead or lead II, QTc would not significantly change.

When watching your video I noticed some text to speech happening throughout the video. I wonder then how accessible this would be to someone who is blind. I am blind, and would be willing to test this out.
