The issue who controls of the narrative, most Africans before 1980s were not traveling outside of Africa and the only imagery of the outside world they had was controlled by the white media who showed the whites as saviors, kind charitable people and most Africans were unaware of the negative imagery these whites were propagating outside of Africa. So Africans consumed most of Hollywood movies which always depicts blacks in a negative manner. I think the world is now seeing the whole picture and social media has a lot to do with that. I had African friends who told me that Afro Americans in schools were so negative towards them especially calling them anything that rhymed with Africa. Most Africans think this because Africa is incredibly ignorant concerning racism.
White people say the exact same thing about African countries being poor because Africans are just lazy or whatever else.
White people who say this also ignore racism/neo colonialism and point to the Asian country of their choice and say “look at Singapore or whatever…..why can’t African countries do the same.”
This is right wing blame the victim mentality and it is completely from a place of ignorance and lack of education no matter who says it.
Look at Afro American comedians and the way they talk about Africans as Eddie Murphy said "buck naked and bone through her nose", these narratives are now changing slowly but surely.

These are the same people who are asking the African American to support them in their effort to kill Tigrayan Ethiopians. Abiy has purchased and hired drones from Arabic countries and Turkey to kill his own people. And the lady said he is " busy doing great things" for Ethiopia.
