Your videos are amazing. I love how you present everything and you really help break down often complex concepts in such an easy way to learn. I also GREATLY appreciate how you don't subscribe to that usual TH-cam moniker about "smashing that like button" or starting every video with "what's up guys". You really stand out for me. Keep doing what you're doing here. This is top notch quality content and lessons.
I hope you all enjoy this challenge! If you'd like to take your drumming further, you can book a one-on-one online lesson with me here: jeffrandalldrumming.com
Im using this to practice finger drums... this is a great lesson format... something to play along with and progressively making the beat more complex.... yes sir
Heey, Would love it if you made this video longer like the new remake of the old warmup video. Would be nice if each beat was twice as long or something like that ;D Love it!
I pretty much begin every practice session every day by playing along to this. It helps me reacquaint with the set and get me in the mindset of practicing with focus and intention. I wish you made more of these!
Jeff, hello from Liverpool UK! Im 42, wanted to play drums my whole life. Finally got round to buying a kit (never too late eh!?). Been playing for 6 months and I'm like a kid in a toy shop, can't stop. These videos are brilliant for me and take me to the next level. Given this a go, last one will take me a while but i'll get there. Keep em coming brother!
Damn Jeff, these exercises perfectly demonstrate why you are one of my all time favorite drummers… your feel and musicality are incomparable. Everything you added complimented each backing track wonderfully. My hat is off to you, thank you for sharing another incredible lesson!
You video really helped me, I manage to nail those snare ghost notes. It gives me this lush sweepy sound that I had no ideas how to render. I'm not sure these are exactly sixteenth notes before and after the kick at 3 but it sounds as it never did before. Thank you.
Somehow i'm now spending 40 mins a day on your various warmups lmao. It's become meditation. I wake up and before the day starts i've got to get my whipping strokes on. Bed time approaching? its 20 mins of singles and doubles.. and now im here.. Approaching 2 weeks of drumming now and i feel very lucky to have found your stuff early. It's ridiculous how much improvement my wrist and finger strokes have made from that video even just doing it 5 times so far. THANK YOU!
Nice, great warm up exercise. So much better playing along with you and the backing track than just trying to play those grooves to a click track. It turns a potentially boring exercise that has a lot of value but hard to get through on your own into a fun experience where music is actually played. Will definitely be coming back to this one!
The first video in the new Drum Studio? Sounds amazing! Looks amazing! Everything is just AMAZING! Great work as always and another great lesson with valuable content! Thanks Jeff....
Your videos are always awesome! You have an interesting LH technique on your upstroke...just before you move your wrist up your fingers move away from the stick! More specifically on your ghost notes just before beats 2&4. I am looking forward to watching more of your content! Keep up the good work.
my gawd the ability you had 12 years ago and how much better its gotten over time. space is nothing without someone who can do more than make noise on their drums
Bro I’ve been playing since I was a kid, but your videos have inspired me like nothing else recently. I want to be like you when I grow up 😂🤣🤙🏽 thank you!
You are the best thing to happen to my drumming in a very long while. Thank you!!! I even signed up for you Patreon, and Epidemic. Can't wait to dig in to all the fun stuff. Anyone know how you go about isolating the drums from the rest of the tracks when you download from Epidemic? I found out how to download stems individually...but I want them combined so that I can then import a single drumless track into a recording interface rather than melody, then instrument, then bass, etc.
Great video Jeff. The kind of video that makes me want to hit my drums at 1 am in the night when I see it. What I love about your videos is that they ar fun to play on. On the last exercise you have an accent on the 3rd hi hat. Is that from the foot opening or you just hit differently?
Now, that was really cool. Could be a game changer at some point, great lesson ! For me the hardest thing is NOT to play anything more than what’s in the sheet 😎 Great drummer U are ! 🤘
This is really great your warm-up + groove control. It's 30 minutes of solid basics. Thanks a lot ! I'm wondering if you have a exercise to desynchronize, can't get this right foot of beat without striking with my right hand.
Awesome 👌🏽 looking forward to trying these ASAP! (..within daylight hours, when I've got the house to myself!🥴🤣) (I love the build to the amen break!!) Many thanks 🙏🏽🤟🏽🤓
AFTER TWO WEEKS OF PLAYING EXTA SLOW, BEING UPSET A TAD. BUT PRACTICING IT WITHOUT KNOWING IT WOULD PAY OFF IS SUCH A HAPPY THING. 2;44 is the first time Ive played it through till this time. yay
Hey Jeff! Great excersise, I already love it although just watched the video. But certainly will try it later! Btw - I like your channel, lots of good stuff here, great job!
It's more than about just the pattern. One must be able to control each element, the right or lead hand, the bass drum as it synchronizes with the lead hand, then the left hand notes. If a player is having a problem playing even 8ths with the lead hand, that is a separate problem that needs correcting and usually has to do with motion.
Hi, Jeff! Long time fan here! Could you please help me understand something. I always try to play the hi-hats as low as possible, while maintaining a 'bounce'. Unless I do that, I come to find out that it really sticks out dynamic-wise. You on the other hand seem to play it with a whipping motion almost from your chin. You look completely relaxed and get the most awesome sound. I'm begging your Groovieness to reveal this secret to me, cause I'm going crazy.
Ive noticed you quite often have a metronome with music over it.... do you create these up yourself or can you point us in the direction of where you found them? So cool
Great stuff Jeff as always! I’ve been bringing this up with one of my students for his exam when it comes to reading. It makes a world of difference right?!
Great groove, thanks. I couldn't help noticing that at various points you seem to open your left hand and take your fingers off the stick completely, something we're often told is the opposite of what we're supposed to do, i.e. keep the fingers in contact with the stick at all times (buzz rolls and such possibly being an exception). Obviously it's working for you coz it all sounds great, but is that intentional on your part and, if so, why? Cheers 🍻
The backing track is what allows me to spend hours on this without getting fed up . Pure bliss . ❤
Thank you so much. Much appreciated. I really dig the groves and how you add in step by step to really develop the feel deeper. Cool. Back to it.
new studio looks good dawg its FRESH
Thanks! PUMPED to be making some new videos in it.
And..... this vid is now on my daily practice rotation! Sounds incredible in the new digs, can't get enough of this content, keep it up!
Awesome, do work bud!
Nice! Care to share your other routines you use to practice?
Your videos are amazing. I love how you present everything and you really help break down often complex concepts in such an easy way to learn.

So simple and yet so powerful! Thanks Jeff.
You're very welcome.
I was saying the same thing to myself and then I read this comment. Spot on!
No it,s not simple
I hope you all enjoy this challenge! If you'd like to take your drumming further, you can book a one-on-one online lesson with me here: jeffrandalldrumming.com

I like that the grooves never felt too busy or overdone. They just stayed groovy. Very cool
Thanks for that Randy.
And that my friends, is what precision and control looks and sounds like.
Pleasure to listen to Jeff, as always 🥁
Studio looks great, drums sound CRISP, and I LOVE this play-along format! Keep up the good work dude.

I like this video. The practice along format is really nice for learning to finger drum

Dude these exercises you do where you can follow along are freakin amazing. Thank you so much! This is extremely helpful.
Glad you’re enjoying them! I’d like to keep experimenting with them so long as people dig ‘em.
thank you for the video. it's amazing for beginners and rookies.

You're into it
Just amazing 😮
Love your choice of play alongs
Glad to hear it! Took me forever to decide on. Haha

Fun exercise and nice choice of tracks! Shows how much a beat makes up the track's mood
I’ve been playing keyboard drums to some of your videos and I love this.
Wow, you mean you’re practicing your drumming on an MPC or something?
@@JeffRandallDrumming Straight up keyboard.
@@mybiggrin very interesting. And you’re trying to improve on your ability to program drums that way?
@@JeffRandallDrumming Yeah, I just want my sequences to have better feel. It's helping my keyboard playing tbh.
@@mybiggrin very cool man
no 32nd notes, double bass drums, or blast beats?
Haha, well played.
Definitely adding this and the whipping motion warm-up to my daily routine.... Thanks Jeff
You’re very welcome! Hope they help.
You just understand the mind of a drummer so well….perfect exercise, something I have been waiting for! More power to you!

I like how you do a mini throw for the ghost notes. I'm going to try that.
Genius idea and beautiful music! Great lesson! Gonna try it with my studnets
Thanks very much! Hope it helps them out.
Your exercises are great, they're both useful for music theory and funny to practice with. Nice job 💪

Too good ♥️
Thanks John
Great video my brother! I think that anonymous drummer was me!!!!! 😂
Haha, thanks Gabe!
Love the new studio man!! Also, were you the anonymous beginner?🤣
Haha, it’s not but that’s a genius idea…
