This whole album is seriously a classic. The lyrics are so smart - "How can we rely on demand and supply, if you said goodbye would that be a lie" "Put poison in my wine and hope that you're the one who dies" - and these common terms keep appearing throughout the songs: "breath" "vapour" "cold" "condensation" - "in the cold the steam escapes my lips and dissipates, you breathe it in, we all breathe it in" "breathe aloud/I promise it won't freak me out" "when the cold sets in, a river will run" - it's just so emotional and deep and encompasses pretty much all the stages of romantic life. The whole thing starts out with her wishing she could escape from between "the ache and the apathy" and ends with her asking humanity to "leave me out of it" next time.

Can confirm she's legit live. The band as a whole is crazy good live.
@@quasistellar @TheBrutalDeluxe I saw them in March and they sound just straight off the album - everything is perfectly tight, the backing vocals are sublime, and Jon's guitar tone just perfect for every lick and solo. And Liz's voice just has such a sweet quality even though she says that she's not primarily a singer. I recommend seeing them anytime you can.

Yeah I'd like to see a compilation video of every time she eagerly smiles while awaiting someone to respond. That would be a very soothing and very long video.

I've met her and she was just like this in person! To be honest the whole band is pretty "Kiwi" - ie pretty impassive - but they let their talent speak for them I think :-)
@@kingcrimson1204 I was standing waiting to meet her at her merch table but then changed my mine and walked away lol. I could just tell she was awkward and I am too so I didn't think it would work well.

Great, great band... they blew the roof off The Brighton Music Hall in Boston a couple of weeks ago. So tight, and they sounded so good in a such a small venue. Nice folks too... Jon stopped and chatted with us for a bit and it was nice to meet the rest of the band as well. I cannot stop playing this album... end to end.

Iggy Pop on his BBC6 Confidential slot recently mentioned that too. After an all female set he comes on and says that it wasn't a conscious decision to be playing so many female artists, but they're just killing it lately.

She sounds like Molly Rankin from Alvvays but I think she carries more emotion in her voice. Super affecting. Like, Karen O/Regina Spektor levels of affecting.
I love how the accent enhances her emphasis of various words, it's so refreshing
they have this positive The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart vibe
Amazing! I especially love Happy Unhappy in this set. (18:00) Their harmonies and speed are brilliant.

The Beths have been at the top of my playlist since last summer. I love this band! I'm so disappointed that they had to cancel their tour dates in April. I can't wait until they come back around again. Anxiously awaiting the release of their new album. Thank you KEXP for this great little video!

One of the coolest up-and-coming female-fronted bands
Love these guys - not their best performance as they look overawed by the spotlight, but warmed up towards the end. New album Jump Rope Gazers is even better than the first one sampled here- check it out if you like clever jangly guitar pop.
