I camped in almost that exact spot a year ago! It is truly magical and beyond beautiful! I would often just sit outside and look at the mountains. I would also look the other way in the evening and watch the beautiful sunset. It's unbelievable as it reflects on the mountains!

Why aren't you just being a slug, listening to the rain and reading? I have kitties so they cuddle up with me and I'm in heaven. My perfect world!! We are always so busy so enjoy these serene times.

I think that snowfall was the last moisture we had this spring. It was beautiful.
i would suggest always having water and a snack with you since you are hiking alone on the off chance you turn an ankle, etc. You would then have water and food with you while waiting for help to come. Perhaps even a space blanket as well since it can turn very cold once the sun goes down even in summer.

It is so weird to me that people move out into the wilderness just to trash it. I'm sure you know that Joshua Tree used to be a GIANT lake and even a hundred years ago there were still places with standing water. Actually, if you know where to look, there still are.but they are few, far between and no longer clear and nice. But when you get out off the paved roads, there is always evidence of the trash that folks left even then. Abandoned mines with huge pieces of equipment, cans, bottles, cables, cars, trucks, a windmill and so on. Amazing. Gosh, those mountains are amazing. I'm at 3500' elevation and we had some clouds blow over, but no moisture. So cool to see rain and snow up there! Awesome. We desert dwellers celebrate any form of moisture from the sky, eh? Happy new week. I'll have to give that walnut taco filling a try - thanks for the ideas!!!

Wow Carolyn, I spent my whole Air Force 29 year staying away from Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, NM, and now you show me how beautiful it really is. Rain, snow, 80°, heat all in one day...Great. Thank you. It really is " gorgeous ". Stay Beautiful, knowledgeable, adventurous, and safe.

It's been so special for me that you've been or were in New Mexico for awhile since I visited for first time in March with my loved ones now living far from me, there in NM. I fell in love with the land and the mountains and loved the people I met in ABQ where I predominantly visited. I was the one saying , boo hoo, I missed the meet up and so narrowly, but loved seeing everyone gathered during your LIVE. I wonder what Sadie would be like had she not been so lucky as to be with you exploring, as she so clearly and naturally loves to do. She runs, digs, sniffs to her heart's content and a cozy home and bed to come home to. The mountains in your video are so beautiful, I couldn't get over seeing the mountains right from ABQ and was in a constant state of "wow".❤️

I'm late to the party and have just now come across this, but great vid. Your enthusiasm for the scenery and that awesome crispness of the desert climate really comes through. I wouldn't have commented until you referred to it as "magical" ... what a great word for New Mexico. I hope to be relocating there soon. Be well.

Sometimes I think it’s the worst thing I ever did but it’s great I suppose for keeping my mind sharp or making me swear in the middle of the night. Lol. It certainly hasn’t helped me cut down on this thing. I can honestly say I don’t watch television that doesn’t mean I don’t watch anything. Lol

You always inspire me. But unlike America 🇺🇸 😕 we don't have much freedom to drive places here New Zealand a lot if land here belongs to Moari...I kind of envy all the beautiful deserts you can freedom park for long periods in USA, it's so boring here and most KIWIS are still sleeping 😴 and depend on government to tell them what to do...anyway would love to hear from you sometime if you come across my messages 😃

I have a question. I'm looking forward to getting on the road, myself. I have a little 5lb chihuahua and I was wondering if anyone has problems with hawks and rattlesnakes trying to get to small dogs or cats. What can be done to prevent attacks? My dad lives out in the country of Louisiana and when I bring "Rosita", he says the hawks will swoop down and get her, so I keep her right by me always when we are outside.

For the birds of prey put a bright colored sweater/shirt/jacket on her, whenever she's outside. The brighter, the better; neon green, hot pink, red; etc.
As for rattlers the only effective thing is rattlesnake training for dogs.
