Y'know, ever since I started reading Matthew's book I've realized just how much this man fought his entire life, it feels devastating to know a man who brought you so much laughter and joy during your childhood was suffering so much. But honestly, that is the kind of life I am searching for myself approaching my 18th birthday. Searching the way to bring others joy even at times where you can't bring yourself joy. What I've read from Matthew's life I intend to keep as a lesson for the lifetime I have ahead of me. I am incredibly greatful for the loving family I've been blessed with, I even sometimes feel undeserving of the fantastic life I have, compared to what others have gone through at my age, specially my brother. But learning of what people like Matthew have gone through, I will not spend a single day where I do not cherish and thank the people around me for all the love I have. And while Friends is a big part of why Matthew has inspired me and others so much, I hope he knows how much of an impact he's made on so many lifes, my example is one amongst millions. But deep down, I do wish I could tell him just how much he meant to so many, how much his jokes and his personality have made people like me strife towards a life you can be proud of. I hope he knows his fight was not in vain, Rest in Peace Matthew Perry.

Made me cry. I discovered FRIENDS in 2020. When it was released I was going through a divorce, working full time and returned to college in 1993. I was too poor for cable tv and a wreck. My second husband passed away unexpectedly as Marty had but husband loved his coffee and cigarettes and he never drank. People, it happens that fast. Fast forward. In 2020, I bought an IPad and discovered FRIENDS. FRIENDS helped me in my depression and the journey I was on. I don’t believe things come by accidents. It was meant to be to be to discover FRIENDS.
This tribute of Joey to Matty made me tear up. I still watch FRIENDS and understand our Matty like my husband went quickly. Love each other and keep loving. Matthew wanted the PEACE and the Lord knew it was time.
I love you Matthew. You and my husband were sarcastic and funny and loving. Thank you for helping me in my darkest days.

Being in the middle of the Friends actors age wise (Matt Leblanc and i are one day apart), i had a real connection with the show. Matthew Perry was my favorite. His character Chandler shared a couple of traits with me. In the early days of the show i even looked like him. Ive known for years about some of his struggles with addiction. When I heard that Matthew had passed it felt like a punch in the gut. Rest in peace, Matthew 😢

Matthew played sandy on growing pains. That had me crying on that episode. Ive watched matthew ever since. I feel like im the female version of him. Especially when he played chandler. I lost my grandma yesterday going to my grandma's funeral on Saturday in Iowa
Oddly enough, I never watched Friends until it ended and went into syndication. I didn’t like the irresponsible sex of Joey (by irresponsible I mean sleeping with so many women in an casual way; it was clear that he did use contraception) and the constant featuring of the guys enjoying porn, with no indication of guilt harmful it can be. Nevertheless, I started watching it on TBS one night, and I was hooked on it because of the sharp writing, character development, wonderful comedic performances and the bond between the characters. Knowing Matthew is no longer with us has made the lights of the world a little dimmer.
First of all great video, I really enjoyed it. The producer in me asks please have your editor use a de-essing filter on the audio. The sharp s sounds were like nails to my ears. The reporting, and writing was fantastic though.
It's so sad the way their friendship ended because of Perry's early death.

But in the 1990s Friends was unique. Even the title of the show demanded it. Matt and Matthew perry was truely a frindship in the series and real life. RARE in Hollywood. Rest in peace Matthew.
True Story--went into the mens room at a BBQ restaurant in Cincinnati. All the urinals had laminated pictures, one was the full cast of Friends. I laughed so hard my side ached. 😅

I had a husband fighting drinking. We had to son and the oldest one was per teen. We were married 18 years and for 5 years I got him help. But when you get that monkey on your back it’s hard. He died due to drinking beer. I raised my sons for a few years by myself. Than got married to a great man going on 36 years. But if his book can help one person I’m proud of him.
I will remember Mathew’s statement that he was able to control the first drink knowing that if he had it he could not stop as by that time it was in control of him. Keep that first drink away from your tempting area.
