    I would hold off, save up a little longer, and buy the better camera. For $1000 or more, you don't want to end up messing around with frustrating issues or accessories. Instead, be patient, get the good camera, and know you are covered for all situations until it's time to upgrade again. Just my two cents, lol.

    Nice to see you twice in one week! So, I know absolutely nothing about cameras. But as to buying advice… My husband bought a BMW. Instead of building one on their website he bought a new one off the lot. He spent the entire 3-year lease with buyers remorse pining over features he wished he had. Once the lease was up he built one online that had exactly the bells and whistles he had longed for and couldn’t be happier. So, save a little longer and get exactly what you want else you will always feel like you’re missing out. Have a wonderful weekend!

    I have never had washi tape tear-up paper, but I have heard others have issues with it tearing; I have a Nikon D5600 that I take out to take photos, and I struggle with it. It was an upgrade from the Nikon D90 I have. Sometimes, I prefer the D90 over the D5600. I am a Nikon girl. But both of my cameras cut off after 30-35 minutes of record time, which aggravates me. I suggest making a pro and con list of the cameras you are looking at. The one that has the most of what you are looking for is the one I would go with.

    I love the idea of replacing a pencil out of some other label, very clever! Yrt, Derwent drawing pencils are a tad thicker than an average, if you keep yours in a tin, it might not fit (absolutely amazing pencils though!) but if you keep them in some other container, just do it.
    As for the camera problem, I'd say go for the better one, the best you can afford, otherwise you'll be throwing it out of the window again

    fluid100 always has problems with masking for me. i think the paper is just really soft. i love working with it but i never use masking tape or fluid with it. i'm no help with the camera, i just use my galaxy phone for it all, even most of my editing... it's over 6yrs old. i think i would be practical and just get what i need. those bells and whistles are shiny but how much will you use them? that's the thing to ask.

    • @IllustrationsByPete
      @IllustrationsByPete  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Samsungs are very capable phones. I do hate using my phone though because I can't see anything, just the back of the phone. Then if I use the front facing camera it looks awful. However, practicality is the name of the game and this secondary camera will most likely be fixed to the top down bracket and never move so I think I agree there. Thanks. 🙂

    Get the best you can afford or you'll be grumpy... perhaps someone could loan you the one you're looking at to see if it's what completes your setup...perhaps a local college department has tools you could borrow... ii've seen a lot of artist's provide their setup gear like you do... what if you did a search for such & what if they had something extra they'd give you...

    I guess I should have paid more attention to my first grade reading teacher. If I had I probably would have found the link you referred to at the start of the video. As for your camera dilemma I’d go with the Fuji. IMHO, the Fuji had more upside potential than the Sony. You may not need it now but in a year or two you’ll be be going through the same dilemma you are going through now and the Fuji will allow you to upgrade for less money.

    You have seen my videos... if you like it and you are curious about my setup, for the above look when I scribble I actually use a camcorder - Sony AX43A 4K Handycam. Is always there - it will come down only when is broken.
    For my side views I use a Sony a6600.
    And if I want a high quality picture for my photography... well... I have like 60 other cameras that I use 😅(digital and film).
    So, maybe have a camcorder that is always setup at the top of your table for capturing your drawings. Or maybe an older Sony a6000 like the 6600 that I have!?
    And the a6700 for everything else? Or... two a6700 if you are so happy with it.
    I'd advise to keep it in the same family if you can... is cheaper since you can re-use the lenses and everything else.
    A new system... new lenses, batteries... etc, etc, etc... trust, is not cheap.
    Also, editing the videos, keeping it in the same family is much easier since the colors are not completely off.

    • @IllustrationsByPete
      @IllustrationsByPete  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is great advice! Thanks bud. I want a secondary camera as well so I think the camcorder is out but staying in the same system is probably the smartest choice. Especially a camera from that system that has the same color science and uses the same batteries and accessories. I was going to get the a6600 before the a6700 came out. Both are great cameras. 👍🏻

    The sad thing about any technology is that as soon as one great thing, the exact thing you want and need, it’s already outdated and you know “they” probably already have something better on the docks. I personally think your videos are clear and good sound. But maybe it’s my old eyes and ears! I’m no TH-camr so my camera demands aren’t as essential as yours. But if you need something better, stay within your budget. That’s my best advice.

      I get it but that's usually my show. I enjoy rambling about completely unrelated concepts while I paint or draw. Sometimes I barely mention what I'm doing. I understand that it's not for everyone but that is what most people enjoy about the show. Some people mute the video and just watch the painting while listening to music because they are just looking for inspiration. Some people don't even watch the video because they just enjoy the rambles so they paint while they listen. And then some people enjoy both the art and the ramble. I appreciate your support and your input but this is the show. Sometimes it may disappoint you but I hope you still get something out of it. 🙂
