I think AMD should hire Wendell (part time, obviously, as we need Wendell for our fix) for a technical marketing role - given how Zen Wendell's voice and analysis (and testing) is. So Zen and Zen works well. Maybe Wendell can make Radeon marketing Zen too.
Time: 1:10:00. A Soldered AMD CPU package onto an itx board is available at Minisforum! I've been so curious about this minisforum itx board with cpu. I don't believe I've seen any real interesting tests yet. Some testing ideas would be to definitely check a rtx 4090,( but I'm also curious how Radeon 7900 xt would perform). A great test would be price to performance for mid range 7800 xt vs 4070 ti, or within that budget in a minisforum vs CPU,GPU,MoBo combo (playing with options of x3d or not and cheap mobos or not for better gpus...etc . OR, try a budget cheaper than cheap motherboard, adding the 100$ more or less price to see what you can get for a GPU. vs building a combo with 5800 x3d and b550 cost wise with GPU. Ahhh, this is so interesting! I'm going to crunch some numbers right now 🤯
I thought the Intel degradation thing was quite simple: Low-load scenarios (from idle to moderate load on a few threads) results in high boost clocks, which result in (dangerously) high requested voltage, which leads to degradation--of the ring primarily. I haven't seen any contradicting evidence. Sure there was the eTVB bug. But Intel said this did not really contribute to damaging the chips.
1:21:31 It's not really about 'upgrading' at this point. The problem is that RAM generally fails more quickly than any other component, so it's actually about being able to replace it.
2:16:00 - Wendell' s comparison btwn Asbestos and AI - is acutely prescient, or will be. In 2150, people will look back (when humanity has had wars with terminators) and lament on this AI thing just as we laugh and lament about Asbestos now.
The (current) Dell XPS 13 is dead to me. I can't live with this few ports, while the chassis could easily fit 4 of them. Plus I don't like the new keyboard and borderless trackpad.
Please no more Wendell, dude is overrated, I skip episodes when he’s on. Love the rest of the crew! Especially Gordon. Please no more mention of Wendell or having him on. Sorry.
Can you articulate more on it? Not everybody can dig everyone, if that's how you FEEL, that's valid. But Wendell is very knowledgeable and has a lot of connections in the industry that allow him to have exclusive information. There should be a better reason for you to say not to have him on show apart from the fact that you don't like him. Right?
I would argue that upgrade-ability is _more_ important for laptops. Because it isn't just a case it's the monitor, the keyboard, the mouse. So there is so much waste.
Love to see Gordon in his environment. Man has fire under him when he discusses tech
We love you Gordon.
I listen to Wendell videos like a child to good night fairy tales. Nerd Asmr....

The Full Nerd podcast. Now with asbestos!
I already have that.
My HP spectre with meteor lake seems to sleep well but I ended up changing the settings to hibernate when on battery
I'm with Wendell on Prometheus
Wendel AND Gordon, nice

If you're going to solder the memory, makes sense to do it on die than board. For the high end stuff we'll.. Maybe... See a move to camm
nice one, Intel.
now with asbestos
I can't wait until ai can design/create a game with just text and fully customize conversations etc. Hopefully within 5-10ys
You guys should read "The case against reality" by Donald Hoffman, in case you didnt. You would not be surprised....
