Hi teacher Bob... I think the research ahead is gonna help u explain the difference between Strait and channel: "An ocean channel is defined as an elongated water body lying between two landmasses. On the flipside, a strait is defined as a strip of water bordered by landmasses, which connects to two large water bodies. In essence, a channel is a wide strait"

Archipelago is made from volcanoes under the water. After it erupted as well as the plate will moved(subductions and sea floor spreading),it will become this chain-like island😊

Thank you very much, dear Bob - another great lesson with interestung words. In my mind, a channel is a long connection to two waters and a strait: two landmasses come very close and form narrows. Have a great day - best from Germany, Tessa

The main distinction between canals and strait is the type of land they separate. If it separates a huge massive land, it's a strait. If it separates a small group of islands - it's a canal. I suppose so :D

It seems that the difference between channel and strait is similar to the difference between hill and mountain. A channel is larger than a strait. Also, a channel may be natural or antropic, meanwhile a strait is exclusively a natural feature.

would it be possible the difference between the channel and strait is the stand view? The channel is for water areas (connecting two water areas), the strait is for land areas?( a space between two lands).
