      Even after messing up a few jokes, it's still one of the best specials ever. Can't imagine how good he woulda gotten, one of the few celebrity deaths that has messed me up 😭

      Which jokes do you think he messed up? I know this special forwards and backwards so I'll recognize whichever you mention.

    • @jayhop
      @jayhop ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alexanderthegreat5649 In this clip for example, he says "don't get mad at yourself, I gave it to you!" when he got stuck between either "get mad at yourself" or "don't get mad at me" before the "I gave it to you". The biggest comedians rarely make those kinds of mistakes in their taping or do two shows so they have a correct take. He was just a little unpolished and openly admitted that he wasn't willing to do the work or play the industry game.
      How good could be have been with a Louis CK or Bill Burr work ethic? Reminds me of Shaq, one of the greatest players ever without trying, maybe we'd say his name instead of MJ if he had a tenth of the commitment. People outside of comedy know Patrice as "oh that guy from The Office" when he really should be known as a cultural icon for generations like a Richard Pryor or Lenny Bruce.

    • @jayhop
      @jayhop ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course the main punchline was already made so it doesn't detract THAT much, but a mistake nonetheless. While I can probably say each joke with him while watching, I can't recite it from memory, so unfortunately I have no other examples off the top of my head. One joke he DIDN'T mess up is still my favorite standup moment of all time, "do me a favor, let me know when you gettin' up to go to the bathroom...." and you know the rest. That line is so funny to me i usually don't even laugh, just sit in stunned awe no matter how many times i hear it.

    I sat in the front row with my wife at a comedy club and the closing comedian had extremely dirty material, but was very funny. The missing football players incident was, of course, not like that. Four football players took a fishing boat out in rough waters, messed up, and capsized it. When they didn't return as scheduled the Coast Guard began a 37-hour search for them. The capsized boat was found with one survivor clinging to it, who reported that everyone else had been washed away by six-foot waves. The search for survivors was called off, because it was clear there were no survivors and could be no other survivors. They weren't out there toodling around on a life raft or bobbing around in flotation devices. They'd all been out there long enough in rough seas that they were dead. The lone survivor only made it because he managed to stay on the capsized boat.

    Unfortunately, (with respect to racial issues) after the laughter stops...the "thinking" rarely begins.
    For starters: the silver-haired, middle-aged woman that he singles out is really rather ordinary looking. Visually...she's nothing extraordinary.
    But, she is perfect for the point he makes:
    an ordinary-looking white woman can easily be made to appear "amazing", with America's powerful media behind her.
    The comics who attempt to spark this type of thoughtful introspection on these social issues, (Chappelle; Carlin; Burr; etc.) learn quickly that, (when it comes to the issue of race) white America would much rather be "entertained" than educated.

    • @chrisfrench9257
      @chrisfrench9257 ปีที่แล้ว

      White America? Entertained rather than educated? The fact that you can't see its not about white vs. black is an issue. Do you think Americans should have done the same to their slaves as the Arab community did in the middle east? If they had, you would have no legacy as all your men would have been castrated and your bloodlines diluted by that of the Arab community. The real issue with racism is that the government and other systems in our society get away with using propaganda to stir tensions between ethnicities (we're all human ffs, no such thing as races). The point isn't racism, its to pit different groups of people against one another so that we are fighting each other while they slowly chip away at our constitutional rights. Check out that tiktok bill that was raised. If you know anything about how harmful and unnecessary the Patriot Act was, then you'll realize that the tiktok bill is that on steroids but for the internet. These social issue talking points are literally by design to distract us. The real issue we should be talking about is the fact that we've been turned into weak people who depend on big corporations (who are slowly poisoning us) to feed and provide for us rather than doing it for ourselves. We turn to the government for protection and we give them more control over our lives because we've been conditioned to be weak, trusting and vulnerable. FFS, focus on the real issue, not the bullshit they keep throwing at us. How many decades have these issues been going on? It certainly isn't because its difficult to find a solution to the proposed issues. This is what keeps people in the "matrix", if you will. Snap out of it, spread the word and start uniting as Americans. That's the first step to solving our issues.

      There's no doubt Patrice had
      that joke already set up; so, ANY
      white woman in his line of sight would
      have been selected.
      Which, (sort of) proves the point that:
      "White womens' lives are valuable!"
      In fact, white peoples lives are valued
      moreso than anyone one else's.
      Everyone knows this to be true;
      especially those who won't admit it.
      So, the question becomes:
      "How do we assign equal value to all
      citizens?"
      Personally, I don't believe that America
      ever had that as a goal.

    Had to shut this off
    I hear a lot of racist remarks in this, I have personally seen people argue and throw punches over this subject.
    He did make it clear he believes black people will help search for a white woman before they help a black woman.
    I believe he was only speaking for himself on that subject
