I’ve barely discovered Idles and have been shuffling through their music over the past couple of weeks. On my drive home (15 min ago), this song came on and hit me. How a band/person can so effectively grab hold of my attention and emotion is beyond me. This band is INCREDIBLE!
Probably the best 2017 record and probably the best singer... Joe Talbot sings like if the end of the world is about to happen in a couple of minutes. I'm stoked on "Brutalism" and dying for "Joy as an Act of Resistance"

I had depressions... was totally on drugs.. cold winter morning... play brutalism for first time, after 3 songs i fell asleep but this beautiful song wake me up.. and i fell in love with Idles... this song remind me of mad world, beautiful world by ratm or hold on by limp bizkit... such a extraordinary type of music for these days
It is absolutely gorgeous and one you can listen to repeatedly. There's just one line that grates me- "for two years in a row I thought it was a Thursday". I almost forgive them because he sings so brilliantly and meaningfully, but if they could just take that line out and replace with a repetition of "for two years in a row I forgot your birthday" for when we see them live I'd be dead happy, I would!
@@r_bear i'd think because a date (the birthday) can't fall on the same day of the week two years in a row but for me it adds to how fucked up and illogical his mental state is in the song, which works
