    If you are not from Colombia and you are considering moving here, please know that most Colombians do not speak English and should not be obligated to in a day to day basis since this is a Spanish speaking country. If you just want to learn the basics do it and get by with it but do not get annoyed when people do not speak english. Also, if you are coming to a new country and you cannot deal with the culture, don´t be entitled and expect things to go here as they go in the US, if you are able to keep an open mind and adapt, come. If you can´t, don´t come at all. We are getting tired of rude, disrespectful and entitled americans over here.

      I understand that and that is why I’m learning the language for the last 10 months.

    • @Jason-nt6rp
      @Jason-nt6rp ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Sorry man but that goes for both ways. Lots of people from latam come over here and they expect me to speak their language when in reality they should start learning my language

    • @jun9475
      @jun9475 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Jason-nt6rp Yeah, and a lot if Americans have been very vocal and racist about it. I wouldn't mind the attitude if it wasn't for the fact that Latinos are treated like crap over there and still gringos come here expecting special treatment.

      @@jun9475 i agree about westerners being arogant when visiting other non western parts of the world, expect the locals to live by the same set of values as they do back home... why bother exploring different places then? In Thailand an Australian family tried to lecture a local real estate about their rental props ads (landlords prefered certain races as tenants) - it may be wrong in Australia or US but other countries are not woke and if thats what they want that is what they get, should the west drop bombs on them to change their ways, it did not work so well in the past 2 decades doubt it will change anytime soon

    • @WrldExplorer
      @WrldExplorer ปีที่แล้ว

      If you think that, it’s only gonna hurt you if you don’t know the language. Whether you expect them to know your language, even though you’re going to their country, chances are you’re gonna need something more than they will.

    • @mdenewsreporter
      @mdenewsreporter 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That totally depends where you live in Medellín. In the fancier buildings and higher estratos (social classes) yes, but in the lower estratos we just pay to the landlord and get the keys.
      Most of the time even without a rental contract or deposit. Pure based on confidence, because when you don't comply with paying rent, local authorities will come and help the landlord.
      I pay 120 USD for a 2 bedroom apartment with living room, toilet, shower and kitchen and balcony of 16 M2 overseeing the whole of Medellín and the Aburra Valley.
      I've painted everything and installed a new roof on the balcony and now I can enjoy mi casa every moment of the day.
      I have 380 MB internet at home with security cameras and my surrounding neighbors are at 10 and 25 meters away from me where locals grow their own food.
      Most importantly is to live where there's fresh air to breathe that will extend years to your life instead of living in the smog that will take years of your life.

    Good info. Medellin is probably the best city worldwide because it's got the good weather year round plus such cool 😎 people. Top that off with the fact that if you want some really hot 🔥 weather, you can go to Santa Fe de Antioquia. If you want cooler weather, you can go and hang out in La Ceja, Rio Negro or El Retiro on the weekend. If you want to have a different experience, hop on a bus to Guatape and Peñon Rock. There are even cool towns to visit like Jardin or Jericho in South West Antioquia for a weekend. Medellin has it all not to mention Envigado city and Sabaneta city just a few minutes away by cab.

For long term living I would recommend residing high in the valley away from major roads. Walk down to the action and Uber back up to your casa. tell me how you feel about the air quality ? any concerns ?? its easy to ignore these things when you are young. its easy to sell away your health but impossible to buy it back. you need clean air / water / food to thrive. Medellin has some work to do on the air quality issue. I think they will solve it in the coming years. the old busses / trucks / cabs and motos have to be Phased out. In that case
    How about
    social infrastructure
    Security
    Medical emergency
    Medical expertises in case of emergency
    Medellin is a different should be compared just like that
    We choose to ignore many aspects of life

      Don't dare to compare Colombian culture with Mexican. Colombia has the most beautiful women, incomparable landscape with lushest and greenest mountains in the world; of course being *the Most Bio-diverse Country in the World by Km², and 2nd. by extension, after Brazil.*
      *Colombia is called the Country of 1000 Rhythms, because it has 1,025.* Very rich musical culture. The friendliest people in the world, etc. Mexico is not known for that, since ½ is arid. In Colombia you can choose to live in a place, and it will have almost the same temperature all year round. The issue is that right now, even Bogota, whose average temperature has a 68ºF, is experiencing very hot weather. Something never seen before, and it is due to El Niño.

    Love watching your videos but you really have to stop comparing Medellin real estate with Miami or NYC lol. This is the #1 mistake gringos make. You have to compare in that country.

    • @FelixTheTraveler

      Not trying to compare it in a general sense but more in a sense that you get a better bang for your buck here. Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching.

    • @aahsimovieprojects
      @aahsimovieprojects ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly, and you can't compare because the business opportunities you'll have being on US soil can't compare to being in Medellin, i'm sorry but it's just not the same. Having a little online hustle is cool but as a young man with ambition you'd be sacrificing a lot living in Colombia when you have papers to be in the US. Medellin should be treated as a playground, go for a week have your fun, but then back to business in the US.

      @@bowalker7114 not so young anymore. I lived in Medellin for years prepandemic working remote, and just recently came back to the US. The business opportunities I’ve had since returning to US soil are something I would’ve never had access to if I stayed in Colombia. All the big players across industries are on US soil, you’re not gonna meet them in Medellin and grow a large business from there.
