Ooh, I like the way this edition looks. I’m glad I held off on getting the previous editions. Anyone know when this third edition will be available at retail in the USA?
Technically Puerto Rico is #4 in the line and Carpe Diem is #5 and they typically release two a year, so if they release them in order and space them out, probably Sept or Oct...
I just picked up the 1st edition but may play with the 3rd edition movement rules. The Feld-ian artwork doesn't bother me. It looks like this has a Cottage Garden drafting/placement feel to it along with several other games so am pretty sure we'll enjoy it.
I am trying to picture myself playing this, and I’m not getting the fun factor. Maybe some explanation of the moves would have drawn me in. I love Castles of Burgundy.
This is such a great game. I think I actually prefer it to CoB. Although it irks me that I spent so much time and effort ensuring I bought the 2nd "fixed" printing of the 1st edition, and now this comes out?!? (and of course since I feel the need to own the complete numbered set of the new alea big box line I'll now have 2 copies each of CoB, Carpe Diem and Puerto Rico) :P
I like the 1st edition more. I don't like the player board of the 3rd edition because it just looks like it is unpunched. Additionally, I like the line traveling of the 1st edition because of the puzzle element to it. Finally, I just put green dot stickers on the back of my tiles to separate the dark green and light green tiles.
Still not a fan of "dark brown" over "dark green" on some tiles, or "dark green" over "dark green" for that matter... the game is too dark and doesn't pop enough. Will wait for the next edition!! Seriously how many editions of that game they are going to make, this is crazy!
GUYS!!!!!! I can barely hear this! Why do you leave the sound checking to chat???? Sorry, but anyone saying 'woah' for this volume is just taking the mic. I've had huge problems listening to the Dice Tower sometimes. I know it's genuinely really difficult, you are not the only ones who struggle under covid with this (and sound always needs to be checked - it's the nature of the beast) - but people in CHAT please, please, please - just KEEP QUIET about the sound unless you have a sensible and meaningful thing to say! If you messed around like this in a professional sound check you'd simply lose your job. Also, just saying "better" is a pretty meaningless when someone has been told the volume is too quiet and they are actually putting it up. Can't people just wait to say when it is OK? It's not a contribution competition! If by "better" you mean "nearly there" or "needs more" then please find better words!!! Also check your own volume is at a REASONABLE level before you contribute! If your volume is on FULL in quiet room and it only sounds ok, it could easily be too quiet for other people - and they will NOT be able to improve it themselves, they way then can if it's too loud. Also (take it from me!) people won't continue to complain if it's too quiet - whereas they are more likely to if there is a loudness and balance issue. Maybe the Dice Tower can look at remote set-ups / people to help them on this? The mods perhaps? It really IS that important - you people TALK, and sound is everything!!! It's amazing how many things I've seen from all over the net that have settled for really unbalanced or too quiet sound (which is much much worse than too loud as all the scope is in turning it down). Really, is it wise to leave sound checking to chat?
Great to see Amanda and Zee! Oh and Carpe Diem.
What a great little game! The new art tweaks make a huge difference in my opinion. Thanks for this play through!

Zee's vertical player aid, does it come in the game?

this game needs a solo mode

Some parts look clearer, but the player board looks like a punchboard that hasn't been punched out.
Apart from the box, I feel the look has not changed much. Still too dark and dull for my taste.
