Good on you sharing it with the young lads and next generation of drifters. Love seeing how much fun you had with the cheapest car there :D. I have a higher cost track car and seeing this made me realise... there is room for another, budget build in future ;) hahah
Valiant attempt, it honestly lasted longer than we all suspected. The idea for a screen was great, but ultimately may it have led to the failure? That is the only change, that extra bit of backpressure created by the flow over the screen may have been the hair that broke your camel's back. I mean in future iterations I would recommend some type of debris filtering system as well... but I'm really thinking that's it. Idk, look forward to seeing where this project heads!
I will admit, the Amazon held up pretty good! a used SC14 great drop in you did all the work! or a Jag supercharger about 300$ or less at a junkyard. Jags will a ton of boost about the same size. Thanks for running the experiment.
Was super great to meet you guys at the event. Unfortunate I didn't get to see it run on Saturday, but I'm sure you'll have something even better at the next one!
My guess is the plastic insides of the supercharger absolutely hated the temperature changes. It may have taken to the heat, but the heat cycle made the plastic brittle
recommendation, go to a junkyard, pull the supercharger off a mini cooper. they make kits for that supercharger on to the miata and it will last as long as there is oil in it and should also still stay as a cheap supercharger under 500$
Ive really enjoyed the supercharger content - love the enthusiasm guys. Time to go get Ogura genuine. Sc14 off Toyota previa will be 300$ used, will last all day and push you well over 200hp I've just put one on a 1600 and it rips.

And now you know why you don't buy a $300 "super charger"!!! They don't call it a "super charger" for nothing, because you've got to buy a new one every 24 hours, that's definitely "super charging" in my book!!
Step one, go to junkyard, step 2 find 3800 series 2 supercharged v6, step 3 you got a dirt cheap eaton S/C for tons of fun and good for up to like 9lbs of boost or something!!
That was me!! I'm the kid in the vid lol. Believe it or not I did have a project and I have very many tools. Bought the baja in my pf pic for 500$ and swapped in a new motor and trans (only cause I killed the first trans from being stupid) and now I daily it in the winter!!! It lasted all night? You mean it was killing itself all night… that amount of damage it probably started chewing itself on the first run you just didn’t notice lmao
Another suggestion, the eaton m90 off of any supercharged pontiac can be found... dang near in any junkyard and they pratically give them away. Kinda have like 3 of them somehow by accident.

So here's a silly question. Usually that kind of supercharger failure is caused by the bearings weakening and developing slack. I've seen these superchargers on the Toyota Previa, granted it's a Toyota part, the SC14 sold on eBay and Amazon is a Chinese knockoff of the same supercharger, but generally the Toyota ones pretty much NEVER go bad. I've seen them with upwards of 400K miles and never seen one go bad. I would wager that maybe they didn't ship it with any oil in it. I would get a refund on Amazon or a replacement and put some good synthetic 75-90 gear oil in it where the dipstick is at and on the front of the supercharger the enclosed bearing behind the plate calls for general purpose lithium grease. I would give it another try with good oil before going back to the drawing board.
@@NBSV1 I believe both the Chinese and Toyota ones have a plastic exterior on the rotors so that in the event it fails, when it collides with each other it'll send plastic into the intake instead of metal.
Isn't the design specs for the supercharger rated at 16k RPM what's the ratio of the pulleys?
