That little Pontiac just proves that even if you have a cheap car you can take pride in it and keep it up. Almost 200k miles and the interior looks new.

I had a 2011 CRZ just like the one here. Thought it was mine, but mine had 163,000 miles on it and was in much better shape. Not the fastest car, but fun to drive. I now have a 2019 Honda Insight. Better mileage than the CRZ, plus a lot more safety features.

The big worry with the big Merc 500SEL is the roof. It could just have had something fall on it and leave a dent, but these cars do have a serious, car-killing issue with the sunroof in that they leak, the sunroof cassette can fill up with water and rot the roof skin and structure away from the inside out. It also rots out the structure of the rear parcel shelf where it joins the rear suspension upper mounts and wheel tubs/inner arches together which takes a lot of strength out of the shell. This one, although low and quite possibly genuine mileage, is just too rough to ever really be worth anything unless you spend more than it's worth bringing it back up to condition. Realistically it's a parts car or something for a big Merc fan to take on, restore and keep for ever...

That’s not why the Tesla got totaled. It’s because Tesla does not let anyone purchase parts from them. There is no way you can order any parts other than miscellaneous trim tabs.

    • @slavic982
      @slavic982 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The seats are very squishy, the springs are super soft. Probably not a fatty that previously owned.
The A/C compressor button is the center of the 5 controls. The O on the fifth button of the 5 is SYSTEM OFF. The cars pretty rough, I’d walk away as it’s just a parts car.
I collect the W126 body style you were sitting in. Gen-1 cars are 1981-1985, Gen-2 was 1986-1991. They truly are a joy to drive if taken care of.

Picked up a 2013 CRZ a few years ago. There very difficult to sell- and very easy to buy for ridiculous low prices. There is nothing wrong with these- Great Gas mileage, Excellent Handling, decent acceleration, and just cheap to own. They were a very popular car in Europe and hated in the US. I don't even consider it a Hybrid. It's nothing more than an electric motor attached to the engine that is only used for acceleration or going up hills. The 1.5 liter engine is used 95% of the time. I've had Zero problems- only normal maintenance. Get the EX.

my dad has an 01 Dakota sport with the 3.9 V6. He did a lot of towing with it back in the day when I used to race. The truck used to haul the race car on a tow dolly and sometimes a trailer, plus the bed loaded up with tools and spare parts. He bought the truck in 09 so it was already 8yo when he got it, and it had 45k miles or so on it when bought. Now it has 183k and it gets used daily by me since him and I share the truck. Also he doesnt drive as much/often anymore because of some medical issues. Now there are a few electrical issues with it that we cant figure out and we dont know anyone who is good on wiring and we dont have the money to get a newer vehicle. I really need to get a new front sub frame for my 2004 ford focus wagon 2.3 because its rusted out and i cant install my new front end parts, control arm, tie rods, stabilizer end links and ball joints

Regarding the Volvo S40, seeing how just the front driver side was wet. It might be a clogged drain. Couldnt see if it had a sunroof but the drain tube runs through the A-pillar. Or alternative leak is the drain under the windshield. Tends to run into the footwell. If it goes cheap it would be a nice part deux to the V70.

The Tesla is basically a carnage vehicle because it's economically not viable to maintain a poorly constructed Tesla with no ability to DIY for parts.

Regarding that Lexus Insurance look at the bigger picture with writing cars off, Some owners wouldn't be happy with just bashing the rear out and painting over and slapping a bumper on they have to get parts cost for it then get a price on the labour to do the job then there is the storage cost and recovery cost of the vehicle to a body shop then there is the cost of how much has been racked up on a loan vehicle they have had to give the owner and when they have calculated all that up then they decide it could be better for them to just total it

    Lets get on with it
Tesla Model 3: Yes it may need some body work but the suspension looks damaged as well. The problem is that Tesla does not sell parts to people, only to dealers/workshops.
Honda CRZ: Those cars never really sold well. They look really sporty but arent. As for the Damage, undercarriage seems like a good diagnostic, and all of the warning lights point towards some suspension work being done and most sensors being unplugged/missing. Maybe some work was done to it, but some things are still missing.
Pontiac: Looks good, probably will sell well, but your profit margin is quite small, so you need to get it as cheap as possible.

My brother has a CRZ with a stick, it’s fun to drive but it’s so slow. Made my civic feel like a race car. If you’re trying to start in a hill with the stick good luck because it doesn’t like to do it. They’re nice though! The ac just went out on his too, might be an issue with those

Don't take me straight at my word, because I'm not sure about it. (Stuff I hear isn't always from this universe.)
For the BMW 428 - I want to say that the hood release is pressing the logo.

There's more to the Tesla as to why it's totalled. There appears to be major suspension and/or damage just by looking at the direction of both front wheels. They're facing apart.
