It's about priority. If she wishes to focus on her family and children over tidying up, that's fine. And I'm willing to bet that a "messy" home for Marie Kondo is probably still tidier than most homes anyway 😆

I love this! Opinions and priorities shift and are ever-changing. She is graceful enough to admit that she has not been fulfilling her usual standard for what tidiness and cleanliness is and for good reason - to be more present with her family. Sometimes you just need to take a pause on things to accommodate other areas in your life. When you are ready to take on more, you will get back to it. It's just a break, it is not forever. Thank you for reminding us to give ourselves grace in whichever phase we are in our lives ❤

You have your whole life to tidy up- but only a fleeting moment to sit on the floor coloring with your toddler or next to your teenager to help with homework.

She didn't say she's given up, and she didn't recant anything she teaches. This is right in line with what she always said. It'd be great if so-called "journalists" stopped lying about her.
What she actually said: “Up until now, I was a professional tidier, so I did my best to keep my home tidy at all times. I have kind of given up on that, in a good way for me. Now I realize what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home.”
And in *June 2019* she said, "Motherhood has taught me to be more forgiving of myself. The joy that comes from parenting exceeds any satisfaction that could have come from a perfectly neat home. My children also remind me that our lives can shift daily (if not every minute) - and that the best we can do is honor where we are in the present moment. So, my home is messier now and for the foreseeable future. ...The joys of parenting transcend a perfectly neat home."

LOL!!! I doubt her house is messy. Probably a few things on the counter here and there and maybe toys everywhere. I’m thinking she leaves the stuff out until the end of the day as opposed to cleaning up all day. And I’m sure she doesn’t have a lot of extra stuff anyway.

Another book in the future about clearing up the mess of backsliding by Marie Kondo.
I prefer to keep it up for me.

Self care is essential. Dont waste your time sabotaging yourself and your time so they can attack you for making those choices when you didn't take the alternatives presented to you ad a choice in the past.

I have the feeling couples who fights over what things to keep and what things to get rid of, are going to do so whether or not Marie Kondo exist in this world.

That's BS! You don't get to back out of what you were preaching, now that your own life is complicated!
This is a perfect example of someone, who doesn't know what it's like to be you, telling you how you should live your life.
And people watch these shows and think there must be something wrong with them that they can't keep up, causing more stress, especially when you have children.
    This is BULL!

She now has a third child - I don't have any but I can understand why she has changed her stance. Not to mention the pandemic and a whole host of issues over the past two years. I'm sure her house is still not overflowing with clutter like most people in American society. And she was not and never was 'preaching' to people. She didn't force people to follow her method. You obviously are bothered by her to even react this way. That speaks volumes about you.

I'm sure her house is still cleaner and better organized than most in the US, so...

Have YOU ever read one of her books or watched her show?? The headline isn't even what she said! That's the BS! They call this journalism - it's just sensationalism. Like your comment.

    • @Hawthornefae

@@williamclark1244 Agreed! She didn't force anyone to follow her method, AND her method doesn't force you to get rid of *anything*! It's all about the process of finding what works for you. So intuitive and real. 🤗

@@silvernblack21 what?? Look up the simple word "bet", or better yet, just read a book, any book.

    • @Hawthornefae
      @Hawthornefae ปีที่แล้ว +3

She is such a delightful, non-judgmental person! The reason you "bet not" is because of headlines like the one on this video and comments from people who intentionally misrepresent her words and methods. She never said she was "giving up," she only said something she has always said, which is that priorities will shift in the different phases of your life. Saying her life is 'messier, and [she's] okay with it' is not, 'I'm giving up and I was wrong all along.' Her method is actually an amazingly healthy approach, focused on finding and honoring people's truest selves. *Please* don't contribute to the smear campaign... and check out her show!😊She's brilliant, inspiring, and KIND. Her method allowed me to acknowledge things I felt, but thought I wasn't supposed to feel *because* all of the other organization gurus teach the opposite. This is all about the relationship between you and your surroundings, and it's actually a beautiful process.
