Lyrics: Pakanajuhla
Veljet sekä siskot,
kokoontukaamme yhteen pöytään!
On meidän malja nostettava
uudelle jumalalle.
Tähden alla syntynyt
meidän seuraamme nyt liittyy.
Hän syö kaikki pöydän antimet
ja vapahtajaksemme ilmoittautuu.
Ketkä asettivat sankarinsa juhlittaviksi
aina meidän pyhiemme aikaan?
Ja he toistuvasti julkeavat puhua meistä häpäisijöinä!
Juopot eivät ulos astu lain,
valvova isäntä vaihtuu vain.
Sillä jok' ikistä päivää kuluvaa
seuraa loputon pimeä yö.
Pian suden uneen
taas vaipua saa...
Huuto!
If youre new to the band its music can open slowly to you. But when it opens.. Theres no stopping that train.
A great way to put that haha. The train hasn't slowed down for 5 years!
I bought Verisäkeet on release without knowing anything but the "folk metal" tag in a magazine. I didn't expect it to be so dark, and harsh. I liked it but many listens later I became a fanboy of that album
more moonsorrow please. they are awesome!
1065 Aika, Sankaritarina, Haaska, Huuto, Jumalten aika... All these songs make me want to travel trough wild woods until large landscapes. You need to open a wide mind, appreciate it on its full length and then it gives some of the deepest emotions I've ever felt. This band is apart in the world of folk/melodeath metal, no other brings the same spirit.
To know: they've the same composer as Finntroll, Henri Sorvali, that you can see playing second guitar in the best live videos I've found from them, tuska 2003.
Jotunheim one of masterpiece of all
There is also band called: Havukruunu, which make black folk death metal. Their style reminds Moonsorrow.
Yes! Havukruunu is amazing as well! Two of my favorite bands right there. "Kelle Surut Soi" was one of the best releases of last year imo.
Brothers and sisters,
Gather around the table!
A chalice we have to raise
To a god of an unknown faith.
The one born under a star
Now joins our company.
He eats all yield of the festive table
And declares himself our savior.
Who did arrange the celebration of their holy
Always on the days of our feasts?
And again and again they dare speak of us as blasphemers!
Drunkards never step out of the door,
Observing masters alone taking turns.
For every passing day in human life
Is followed by an endless dark of night.
Into a wolf's dream
We soon may fall again...
Kiitos!!!!
Moonsorrow is one of the classics, from before anyone even knew what folk metal was. It's one of the original Finnish bands that were formed in the mid 90's along with Ensiferum, Finntroll and Turisas. Really one of _the_ bands that invented the genre and made it popular.
Most definitely. I was introduced to this band before Kivenkatanja was produced.
Such an important band not only to Finnish metal but Pagan and Folk Metal. Pity you could only check the older stuff. The masterfullness of their music rises above this later in their career. But it also incorporates more Black Metal to it becoming just the greatest Pagan Metal band out there! Do not expect pure folk out of these guys, they are all about the ominous.
Well said. I think a lot of us agree about the song choice but, it's their first listen. Let's hope they check out some more of their stuff either on TH-cam or on their own personal time
Finally it's here!! Nice to see you guys liked Moonsorrow. Damn shame about the copyright issues... But still I'll list some of the best songs in hope of seeing you react to them: Huuto, Kuolleiden Maa, Jotunheim, Pimeä, Haaska, Jumalten Aika, Ruttolehto, Mimisbrunn, Ihmisen Aika, Tähdetön, Muinaiset, Sankaritarina, Sankarihauta, Raunioilla, Ukkosenjumalan Poika. Just to name a few :D
Thank you for doing this. For some reason I have known about this band for a long time, but never truly checked them out. I realize what a mistake that has been on my part :D
Please, please rock out to Airbourne! ("Running Wild") =)
This is one of my favourite bands. :) I do prefer their more grim stuff however
Yes finally!! Thank you ❤️ This is their older stuff (from 2001) so please make sure to try their newer music too :) It's quite different from this, but the certain "moonsorrow elements" are still to find there.
Hope that you can still find some music that isn't copyright blocked (?)
That is always a struggle with certain bands, this being one of those bands.
A&P-REACTS Truly a big shame for the label to block this awesome band (and others) from you :(
@@APREACTS How to pronounce 'pakanajuhla', *with audio* (click the blue triangle): forvo.com/search/Pakanajuhla/ -- also, now that we are at it, 'Rammstein': forvo.com/search/Rammstein/de/
The album “Suden Uni” which this song is on is actually from ‘98.
You are in for amazing time with this band. Albums like Verisäkeet, Hävitetty and Jumalten Aika are something else. Hope we see lots of reaction videos about them. 🤘😍
Another great vid guys!!!... Love Finnish and folk metal so i loved this, was heavier than most folk which was cool...
Moonsorrow are the best! their songs are magical! :)
This band's a gem. Definitely gonna look into them. Check out Cradle of Filth's older stuff: Queen of Winter Throned, Funeral in Carpathia, A Gothic Romance, Beneath the Howling Stars. They have songs that people who aren't fans deserve to listen to, but never get seen because of the more mainstream songs.
Moonsorrow are my favorite band. You have done very well. Henri Sorvali is a mastermind. I feel the greatest song they have written Is Jumalten Kaupunki
Moonsorrow is one of my favorite bands. I would divine it as epic pagan metal, with progressive and black metal influences. You should defeniatly check out all there material . All of them have their own character.
Some tracks to begin with :
Tulimyrsky
Pimeä
Huuto
Mimisbrunn
Great band, awesome live.
This was actually the first song I heard from them way back when, which got me into them. Good stuff! My personal favorite is "Rauniolla". If you decide to check it out, I hope it doesn't get blocked.
Hell yeah, I've been waiting for this. Huuto, Raunioilla and Muinaiset are other great songs if you want to react to more Moonsorrow
Just as I've started to binge-listen Moonsorrow again you post a reaction on it, awesome! Some songs you should definitely check out would be Jotunheim and Mimisbrunn (both last around 15 minutes) and Tulimyrsky (about 30 minutes). Don't know if a 30 minute song would make for an interesting video.
I mean, as much as I like the band I don't know if I could record myself watching a blank screen for 30 minutes straight. I do agree, however, that V: Hävitetty is one hell of an album
You pretty much nailed saying "pakanajuhla", well done! :D
Nice vid guys, finally some Moonsorrow! Since you guys really love Wintersun, I can recommend a american band called Aether Realm, which have kinda the same theme/sound. Their best songs IMO are "The Magician" and "The Chariot". Also I haven't seen anybody recommend Teemu's (Wintersun) other band called "Imperanon", which is also a melodic death metal band. They have a great song called "Stained". Cheers!
Love Moonsorrow so much
nice seeing you guys taking part in the paganfestivities :) you guys should take a look at some of moonsorrows newer stuff aswell
Yes. I was waiting for it for a very long time. I follow them from more than a decade. Saw them 2 weeks ago on tour, they are great.
If you can, you must check "Ruttolehto", "Huuto" (new stuff both) or "Sankarihauta" (old stuff)
Finally you guys do moonsorrow!!
Better late than never, but we will do more in the future.
THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING!!! Listen to Sankarihauta or Tulimyrsky (the song) or Back to North they are killer!!!
Jumalten Aika is my favorite Moonsorrow song, its from their newest album
Pretty good pronunciation of pakanajuhla, not perfect but good enough. :) The word means a pagan celebration.
KeijoFinni or maybe paganfest
If you guys are interested in hearing one of their darker songs (and if it's not blocked) I recommend the song "Pimeä", literally means "dark". Also has perhaps the best vocal performance on any of their songs, it's incredible.
You might be glad to hear Mitja from this band also sang in Wintersun's epic choir (in Summer)
I liked this! :) Awesome guys! Still looking forward for Insanity's Crescendo - Dark Tranquillity. Pure epicness! :)
That will come at some point for sure...more so because I am seeing them in Sept.
Yeah =) Thats in 4 months, guess you are doing it whenever you feel like it :) It's not like you have to do it close to september only because you are going to see them by then :)
Cheers :)
Try the live version of Insanity's Crescendo from Where Death Is Most Alive DVD then. The cathartic beauty and power of that performance will blow you away! I can't wait to see them this fall either :)
Agree!
THE GALLERY is the best older song
Very melodic folk metal feel. Sounded awesome and the transition was very cool.
React to Ensiferum- Windrider or Treacherous Gods
They are folk style metal. Cool band 🤘
Treacherous Gods
Sir Cosumar that song is soooooo good 😁 these guys are awesome live too if you've seen them or ever have the chance!!!
I've never had the chance, they don't come to the US too often. I would kill to see them though, they are one of my favorite bands, especially the material with Jari.
IRON !!!!!!!
Patrick Currier I have seen through the eyes of the wolf... It's perfect.
I'm so happy you did a song from Moonsorrow. If you can use them, the songs Huuto, Muinaiset and Kuolleiden Maa are absolutely amazing! You can also find English translations to the lyrics online, and I encourage you to take a look at the lyrics, because at least to me personally their lyrics are about as important as the music itself!
For me, Moonsorrow's Voimasta ja Kunniasta was THE album. Songs like Sankarihauta and Aurinko ja Kuu being probably the highlights of it. Of course there's always stuff like Jumalten Kaupunki / Tuhatvuotinen Perintö from Kivenkantaja that is absolutely brilliant, but I guess that's one of the blocked songs. Such a shame.
Here's a few more good ones from them: Moonsorrow - Kylän päässä (for heavyness), Jumalten kaupunki (for epicness), Kaiku (for campfire). Moonsorrow is one of my all time favorites.
Hairy boy shakes his hair, bald dude shakes his beard) Well, it's a great song, stay with them since 2004, thanks for video!
Moonsorrow is usually more on the Black Metal mixed with folk elemets side.
I have always thought that Moonsorrow is really melancholic sounding all in all. But they kind of mix happy elements here and there. Also I really like long "iaaaaaaaaa" screams the singer Ville Sorvali produces. Singer also plays bass guitar i think. Henri Sorvali the keyboardist is also really great and he has made most of the Finntrolls keyboard melodies as well
Moonsorrow is my favourite band
I can also recommend band Eternal Tears Of Sorrow. Example songs (these have not so much views than some others):
Aurora Borealis, Fall of man,
Baptized by the blood of angels. They have not been very active lately but they have done very good songs. A style reminds Children of Bodom, maybe little bit more melodic and not so aggressive.
Throwing it out there: you guys haven't featured much industrial metal. Might I suggest Turmion Kätilöt? Pretty much all around epic, weird and has massive sound, oh and it's Finnish. Some suggestions for songs: "Minä määrään", "Rehtori", "Verta ja lihaa" (their first music video.. it is ... something all right)
Moonsorrow - Kylän päässä and Ukkosenjumalan poika are also a good older songs from them
One of my all time Fav Folk Metal bands!!!
This song has some of their roughest vocals i admit..but man those melodies are so good!
Ahh Moonsorrow.. I'll always remember when I borrowed Moonsorrow's 'Suden Uni' -album from the public library when I was like 10 years old.. 1065: aika is my favourite piece.
Nice changes of texture and tempo in this song. The folk element is strong too. I like it.
Few translations from Finnish mentioned in the video: Pakanajuhla = Paganfest, Verikalpa = Bloodsword, Tyrmä = Dungeon
Darklyrics com is well known net site if want find english translates. Example: Moonsorrow darklyrics
You might also wanna check out Moonsorrow - Jotunheim . I am suggesting that song specifically because I know which songs of other bands you tend to like!
Live: Moonsorrow Hellfest 2016
Moonsorrow - Bloodstock 2012. But I feel they sound real better.
Please react to Fear Of Domination - Obsession.
It’s a Finnish band and its awesome. They have new album out 4th of May
I love Moonsorrow - they are great Finnish folk metal band, and very different - they are really good live - Huuto live at Hellfest is really good 2012 Moonsorrow-huuto (hellfest 2012) - TH-cam
Fuck yes MOONSORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just gave you few bucks. And shared the link. :)
Love it
Opeth - When (Live @ Roundhouse tapes) would be great!
How about Scars on Brodway's new song? Lives is the name of the song I think
Check out more of their stuff. As great as their old stuff is, their newer stuff is even better
The first time you went for the 'pakanajuhla' it sounded actually pretty decent
Check out Santonian Shores by Eluvetie or Initiation-I'm Alive by Helloween.
I think you can like...
Svavelvinter - Vanderland
Loved the music , thought the vocals were a bit quiet ... unless that is common with this style of music? Need to check them out further !
Ron Mackay Check out their song: Huuto.
they are the kings of folk/pagan metal
Cytotoxin - Radiatus Generis
Interesting song, reminded me little bit of Children of Bodom.
please react to: Theocracy - Laying Demon To Rest ...... hell of a song
You must listen song "back to north" from moonsorrow...that is heavy
I was the 9,999th view! 😃 Great song.
you guys love folk and stuff so I very highly recommend that you react to some stuff from Yer banished privateers band. Its like the most awesome pirate music stuff ever
You said it nearly right: pakana (correct) but then juhla (one mistake, "h" was not enough powerful for finnish). So it sounds like pakanajuuhla or pakanajuula. But nearly correct. Pagan festival.
Dark angel - The death of innocence, great old school thrash
The Man-eating Tree - Breathe Emptiness
Ah the infamous pronunciation issues! I'm curious, how would you guys pronounce naan bread? At my school this is a hot debate lol.
Naglfar - Harvest
Easy...Naan ..... we will try to say it in one of the future videos!!! Maybe get my wife to come in on her Indian accent and lay down the law.
A&P-REACTS haha! Sounds great!
Nice shirt A........... Like the folk melody. I thought it was catchy.....................
I thought this was quite good i liked it you should react to more of this
"Unohduksenlapsi" is the best one. It took me three listening to realize they are singing in Finish =D
Mammals in Babylon - Cattle Decapitation
Do the live studio version please.
Check out Finsterforst, similiar to Moonsorrow
Guys use a VPN and go to country of origin.......TA DA you can listen to any videos that are blocked in your country :-)
The video is not blocked for us to watch it. The copyright owners block them from us to use it in our videos. That is a huge difference. I am not talking about Geo block, I am talking about copyright block...these are two different things!
Ah I see.....I guess it is different since you are sharing it on your channel :-)
Korpiklaani - A Man With a Plan
Would be great ;) also from great Finland
That is another band whose videos are blocked. We did Drink Drink and it was blocked almost worldwide....
Oh, that's so sad. Well, at least just listen to this song without making a video. A Man With a Plan is the song that got me into this band. And I am going to attend their concert, when they come to Russia in September :)
Atavistia one within the sun from Canada please .
React to Midsommer by Svartsot, greetings from México.
Black Crown initiate - Withering Waves
Of Mice & Men - Instincts
You got some hard restrictions with copyrights if you have to mention it in like every video. :( I understand to do something against piracy, but most of the times it seems that bands actually suffer under this since the internet is such a perfect way to share the creations. I remember, couple of years ago, GEMA blocked almost every video on YT in germany. If I like a band, I buy the album and be thankful for having it, however it seems like the Metal community is one of the few that actually do that these days.
It really depends on the label not really the band. For example, SME (Sony Music Entertainment) and UMG (Universal Music Group) block every song that they own the copyrights. So bands like Ghost for example always get their videos blocked. In the end it is their material and they can do as they wish, and I understand not wanting people to use their music in their videos, but in today's world it is such a short sighted view, since they monetize the videos that use their music not the video creator and it is a free way to advertise the music and their artists while still collecting revenue from it.
That's what I and many more really love about your channel. You don't expect any profit out of it, only sharing and enjoying. Keep on doing what you do. A lot of people actually say that, but we mean it! :D
That is why we don't chop the song or find "work arounds", we don't make a single $$$$ from our videos, so if the labels let us use them, GREAT, if not, fine on to the next band. We are here to enjoy music together, discover bands, help bands out and have fun. All we make is whatever bands send us in merch and concert tickets and donations on our Go Fund Me. But this was never meant to be a source of income and never will...Therefore I find it funny when people comment that we are stealing content or profiting off other people's work....because we don't. What others do, well that is on them.
No, you said it wrong :D The start is ok, but the word "Juhla" is pronounces as yuhHle with the H as a very differentiated letter. Good job otherwise! Love from Finland
React to In This Moment’s Black Wedding (Brand new video that just came out) and a band called Eleine (Listen to Break Take Live)
Please Beyond the Black - In the Shadows next!
Ukkonsenjumalan poika or Jumalten kaupunki are also glorious from them.
Or Raunioilla
Brothers of Metal - Prophecy of Ragnarök! trust me, you are gonna love it!!
