You would get deeper feeling of their songs if you learn more about their history especially how they were ridiculed and how they persisted their dream. I am grateful there was Beyond in Hong Kong where there were love songs and love songs only in pop culture in 80s and 90s. Beyond wrote every songs with their heart. They are about never give up and strike for dream. They are about youth feelings. They are about social issues. They are about love and peace. Last but not least, for your information, Beyond made a trip to Africa in 1991. If you can, try to find all the CD/ disc of Beyond from 1985 to 1993, which over 90% of songs I am surely that you will like it. If you listen to it once, you may not like it immediately, but when you listen to it several times, I guarantee you will fall in love with and you will find how great it is. He is a musical angle, he is extremely good in music, no matter singing and guitar. You will find he really a genius.
May I suggest you enjoying the song “再見理想” (farewell ideal) It’s about the frustration and balance between friendship, prospects, dreams, ideal and values. Beyond has always wanted to spread the idea of love and peace through music, they wanted it to be non commercial, but the cruelty is reality, they had to sacrify some of their ideals to make musics. I'm not sure if the video you watched had the interview part before it. Ka Kui explained that the song was inspired from a trip to Papua New Guinea. He was very moved and touched by the simplicity and joy that the children had there.
HOnestly I think you could find a better vedio because I think this is not the origional one but also the production of the MV in Hk are really not bad in 80s to 90s even till now .Beyond deserved to have a way higher qullity of MV .Btw, listening to Beyond's music could separate to 3 different part ,1st is early 80s ,when they still in the underground .Their music is more artsy like myth (the intro chord is beautiful ) , Long way without friend ，阿拉伯跳舞女郎（Arabian dancing girl ) ，等待，東方寶藏...etc . the 2nd part is when they became more commercial and pop like those song you posted. thx Frank！im glad you like Beyond and you have react many of their songs. i have heard a interview with Ka Ku from a radio program, he said the more big message he wanted to deliver to majority, the much simple melody he would put into the song, that’s why these songs were so easy to listen and the construction were not so complicated. Hey there! I'm a huge Beyond fan and I had the chance to see Yip Sai Wing in concert in Milan in 2016 🙂 ... most of the audience (around 800 people) were Chinese, just very few Italians. An unforgettable experience.

@@sakana8 It's my pleasure to talk with other Beyond fans :-) Yip Sai Wing played in Milan on October 14th, 2016 to support the release of his solo album "引以為榮" (translated as "Brilliant"). The concert was held in a theatre called "Teatro Della Luna". The concert opening act was the band Alienoid. Yip Sai Wing played for around 2 hours with a couple of special guests. The drummer was Funky Sueyoshi, a talentuous Japanese musician who has been playing in the band XYZ->A since 1999 and also worked with other Chinese musicians. Yip Sai Wing had a great voice (I think his voice became more and more powerful in the recent years); he played 7 Beyond songs, some of his solo songs (I like the heavy "輸不起" and the heart touching ""薪火相傳" dedicated to Wong Ka Kui), and even a cover of "Enter The Sandman" by Metallica. About Beyond, I discovered them with the wonderful "Live 1991" concert on the internet... it literally blew my mind! I bought some original CDs & DVDs online, including "Live 1991", and the compilations "The Stage" and "The Legend". I have so many favourites that it's impossible to decide a title... Hey there! I'm a huge Beyond fan and I had the chance to see Yip Sai Wing in concert in Milan in 2016 🙂 ... most of the audience (around 800 people) were Chinese, just very few Italians. An unforgettable experience.

@@sakana8 It's my pleasure to talk with other Beyond fans :-) Yip Sai Wing played in Milan on October 14th, 2016 to support the release of his solo album "引以為榮" (translated as "Brilliant"). The concert was held in a theatre called "Teatro Della Luna". The concert opening act was the band Alienoid. Yip Sai Wing played for around 2 hours with a couple of special guests. The drummer was Funky Sueyoshi, a talentuous Japanese musician who has been playing in the band XYZ->A since 1999 and also worked with other Chinese musicians. Yip Sai Wing had a great voice (I think his voice became more and more powerful in the recent years); he played 7 Beyond songs, some of his solo songs (I like the heavy "輸不起" and the heart touching ""薪火相傳" dedicated to Wong Ka Kui), and even a cover of "Enter The Sandman" by Metallica.
About Beyond, I discovered them with the wonderful "Live 1991" concert on the internet... it literally blew my mind! I bought some original CDs & DVDs online, including "Live 1991", and the compilations "The Stage" and "The Legend". I have so many favourites that it's impossible to decide a title... I like all their era, from their early years until the very end as a trio. Feel free to send me a private message anytime 🙂
