Awesome Monster Catfish man 👍👍tons of short Walleye around this year - might have to go further west for bigger fish. i must have landed 40 Walleye jiggin yesterday but only 2 small keepers
Thanks man! Those small walleye are all over Buffalo. We’ve had better catches in Barcelona and Dunkirk lately. We’ll have to find a day to get you on the boat!
Hooked into a big cat last year while bass fishing in that same area. We thought we snagged, after 5 minutes of repositioning the boat trying to get our "snag" out we realized there was a fish on. Love the content guys, great to see father and son spending time together out on the water.
My sons caught a 20-pound channel catfish, 34 inches long, not far from the Buffalo harbor last weekend in 35-40 ft of water. We were also jigging for Walleye, as well as using blades. The cat thumped my black/silver blade. Took 15 minutes to reel in. The cat was just a few inches shy and about 5 lbs shy of the Lake Erie record (37 inches, 26 lbs - caught out of Lake Erie near Erie, PA in 2022). We managed to get it in on 10 lb test line. Was safely released and swam back into the deep. Have plenty of photos of it (was nearly as long as my 14 yr old son is tall lol)...wish TH-cam would allow photos in comments. What you caught was also a channel cat. The monster channel cat we caught was mostly black, with some yellow on its belly.
@@willsworldoutdoors They really dig down and put up a great fight. The channel cat you guys caught was also a monster...had to weigh upwards of 15-20 lbs. That one looked fatter than the one we caught, just not as long.
The weight is always 50’ from the bait. I have to tell you the snap weight program is way easier than leadcore for us and super accurate as far as depth.
That’s the process for the rods right out the back of the boat but the ones in the planer boards we use lighter weights the further we get from the boat and change the amount of line we let out to cover all depths. Lines at the boat are deep and they get shallower as they go out from the boat.
Dear CATMAN DO there are some big ones out there!!! When you do your snap on WEIGHT THING AT 50 ft do you do that with worm harness as well as stick baits? How do know how much weight and line to put out to get in the strike zone? PLEASE.
We will use the same method with crankbaits but run the boat a little fast like 1.8 and higher. The amount of weight varies by the line it is on. Lines out far on planer boards get the lightest weights like 2 oz. Lines right off the back of the boat get heavier like 5 oz. Those ones are on the bottom and the ones in boards are suspended. The precision trolling app willl tell you approximately how much line to let out to get to your desired depth. A good starting point is a 3 oz weight put back 55’ after you snap on your weight will get you about 30’ down trolling at 1.5. You need to always account for current, wind and waves. Good luck!
Good stuff fellas. Got a monster cat like that in the inner harbor in early May. Was out a few days ago where you guys are. 30-52 fow at 1.7-2mph from 3pm-dusk… 🦨 ed!! Screens blank almost the entire time too… Hopefully that was just an off day…would hate to think I already have to consider launching out of the Catt a month earlier than usual.
We have started to fish down the lake already. There are fish in Buffalo but we can’t get them to bite. Barcelona and Dunkirk have been good lately. Good luck!

Glad you like the videos! It’s amazing the fish the lake holds. We’ve got some great stuff coming up this summer.

Even in the south that is a BIG CATFISH!!!
We don’t catch many of them but those big ones are sure fun!
How far away from worm harness are you snapping that weight on, simplicity at the max, do your think it as proficient enough to stay with it??

@@willsworldoutdoors are you letting it down too bottom, then real out one more time and bounce then reeling up two turns and calling it good?

Great Video guys. That’s a nice catfish. I’ve caught a few in the fall while fishing for perch they are a great fight. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Wow that’s got to be a fight on perch gear! Thanks for watching our videos.
SUNGLASSES IN THE FOG VERY COOL!! :)

@@willsworldoutdoors IT'S BRIGHTER UNDER A FULL MOON BUT YOU DO LOOK GOOD!! WHEN WAS THAT FISHING TRIP? PLEASE.

@@willsworldoutdoors THX AS ALWAYS
Fished inside last week caught endless shorts. Good crop for next year
That area seems to have become like a nursery for our local walleye population!
Going to have to Give White a try “”” 👍🏻
Ever use those Tadpole divers ?
White has been huge for us this year. You won’t be sorry.
What’s a tadpole diver? Always interested in trying something new.
