I watched Avatar when I was 24, not that old but old enough to think that I'm too old for cartoons. Avatar changed perseptive on what's "acceptable" for adults to watch. It's a great show and talks a lot about mature topics, would totally recommend
When your background dude said 'his feet don't catch on fire' I think he means that the centre of the head of Zuko's fireball should appear some distance outside of the body, like past the sole of his foot. And the fireball tail should follow the path of his foot - since it's coming down, not yet horizontal, and his overall motion is forward (rightward), it shouldn't curve forwards like it does in the print. The head of fireball the should be the forward-most point. That said, I'm no artist, and for someone who never saw the show you produced something excellent!
Yeah, the fire is produced from his feet but there's some space between the limb the element is produced from and the element itself. Firebenders can still be burned by fire.
Also he was wrong about lightning, zuko doesn’t do lightning, he only knows how to redirect it 😅 also he shouldn’t say second season, cuz it’s a whole different show when talking about Korra
So I have a couple recommendations as a huge fan. Have all of their clothes fit. Zuko joined the team midway through season 3 and Aang had a different outfit due to his original clothes being burned. It looks more like traditional monk clothes. Toph’s pose does not look like an earthbender pose. She bases her earthbending off of Southern Praying Mantis Style Kung Fu along with Hung Gar Kung Fu being the standard for most, if not, all other earthbenders. She would be steady and unable to be moved. I would have her pose be either steady or more forward like she’s trying to punch, but she’s moving rocks. I would highly recommend watching the characters fight if you ever make another art piece. That way you can get a clear idea of how their bending styles work and what poses they use to fit them better. Other than that it looks really well done.
as a person who does martial arts and is an artist i can say that the pose feels wrong. toph is punching with her left hand. when you punch, your body turns with the motion (in this case, it would turn right). but for this to happen, it should be a front stance, not a back stance! back stances are for defensive techniques and moving out of the way. (for example, it'd be a great stance for when you're creating a dirt wall or whatever). i think it would also feel more grounded if the leading foot was the right one as well. though keep in mind that i might not be completely correct, cause i do tae kwon do, not the martial arts that earthbending is based of off. :)
I have no idea who you are, but the algorithm saw Avatar and knew this video was for me. So now, I need you to watch the show. As The Normies say, “this is not a kid’s show.” There’s a reason Avatar held the number 1 show on Netflix for so many weeks, years after it came out, it’s just that good. 😩
So we have season 1-2 Aang, season 1 Sokka, season 3 finale Katara, season 3 Zuko and season 2-3 Toph. Also, Aang's shoulder cape should attach to the bands on his arms. This is a very important detail in his character design as he utilises that for moving around with airbending. Also, the shape of his glider-staff is entirely wrong. How are the glider's wings going to fold into that thin twig of a staff and what are those wooden blocks at the ends for? Overall, I'd say you did as well as can be expected from someone who's never watched the show so good job!
If you get the chance, check Avatar out. It's insanely good, regardless of age. And note I mean Avatar: The Last Airbender, the original show. The Legend of Korra is a spin off series that, well, didn't go as hard as consistently as it's precursor. And the live-action movie is just unholy.
@@Thylaacine Nonono, it’s above that. I’m on moblie and there’s just a weird space between “consistently as it’s precursor.” and the end of the comment.
I think an avenue of improvement would be to have the poses be more than just poses, be movement frozen in time. For example Zuko: Is he moving his fist forward or his leg? How did this move start, how would it continue? It kinda feels odd. In general, all the moves in the show are very intentional. There are specific fighting styles, that fit with each element and the way the elements are bent is never random. That was also a big aspect why the movie failed; it didn't understand the bending and made all the moves at random. Your artstyle however is very beautiful.
The first episodes do a great job of setting up the characters and world. I will never understand how so many people go "don't worry it gets better" when it starts so strong.
@@Renoistic Uh… it definitely is a kids show at first. The jokes are sketchy, the morals are hamfisted, and all the characters are over the top and archetypal to the point where it’s hard to care about anyone. The animation is also a little screwy at first.

I think he meant that the fire doesn’t touch his feet, but ‘come out’ of it, like when Uncle Iroh used his breath to heat up his cuffs. It didn’t set his nose on fire, but the flame was kind of suspended in the air.
This may sound weird, but I like to see you get frustrated when you draw, because you're such an inspiration to me and seeing you struggle also makes me feel like it's okay to struggle sometimes and that I can keep trying, so yeah, thanks for the honesty.

There’s literally only 4 seasons and it’s one of the most thoughtful and brilliant television series. They have a lot of costume changes because characters develop throughout. It’s hard to get through this with the resistance you have for this awesome series. It’s so sad. I can’t even with this..
ATLA has 3 seasons (or books as they're called) as well as some extras that include chibi shorts and some kind of a motion comic. TLoK has 4 seasons. That's it for the animated franchise but there are lots of comic series too.

I know this was a lot of work but you should definitely do it again. This time with the different elements for each bending style. For example air=spirit water=blood fire=lightning earth=metal. I love the style you chose and would love to see more avatar now that it’s been a bit since you posted this one.
I still recommend giving Avatar a shot. Season 1 is the most kiddy but season 2 and 3 are honestly really good. Its not everyones thing but its surprisingly deep and purposeful for a Nickelodeon show.

I hope you realize that by making this video you are now required by the laws of the algorithm to watch all three seasons of Avatar and make a follow up video redrawing it after watching the show...
This is so nice to watch. I think my criticism is only in the martial arts - Toph does not look at all like she's earthbending (the style is all about having a solid, unmovable stance), and Zuko's / Aang's action lines are a bit off. The papercut art style is beautiful.
You NAILED this!! Absolutely amazing! And i actually highly recommend watching this show! (there's only 3 seasons, don't worry😂) I also watched just a few episodes on tv when i was a kid. A couple of years ago i decided to watch the whole thing. _That was one of the best decisions ever._ It's the kind of show you enjoy at any age!
This is honestly really well done. One that does look a bit weird but you couldn't have known is the power behind Toph's bending. In the show the body language in the martial arts has a very palpable scaling of strength. The pose itself is great, but in the show this amount of oomph would come with a bigger rock. and probably also more aligned with her fist's height as earth bending is all about rigidity
The water and fire bending looked like Yin and Yang which if you watched the show are very important And the fact that it is Zuko and Katara makes it better #Zutara
You still did consider to almost add the lighting in the end for Zuko! 😂 Also you should definitely watch ATLA, the world building is amazing and the artists take real world culture inspiration whilst designing everything in the show!
Good attempt but unfortunately it is not quite enough to pass the "have watched ATLA" Turing Test. Toph's stance is wrong. Earthbending needs a very solid and firm stance, with both feet firmly on the ground and slightly bent knees and a very upright posture with your sholders vertically right above your hips. Your Toph is bent backwards and has her weight unevenly distributed on her legs. That is very out of character and not how she would fight.
I also thought i missed the boat on Avatar, I was well into my adult years by the time I gave in and gave it a shot. It's timeless and worth watching today, at any age.
Your style is awesome but yeah, Zuko looks like he accidently set his foot on fire and is pissed about it 😂 If you watched the show you'd know firebenders aren't immune to fire! In this pose fire should be shooting straight forward from his hand/ foot like a flamethrower, without quite touching him.
i think i would think its a misinformed fan if i didnt know i would say kataras necklace obviously is missing but she didnt have it for some time in the show so you could argue it was during that time and if i were to nitpick toph's form looks a little diff than it should i would say the other hand should also be a fist and her other leg should be dropped down as well with both knees out also bending is controlling the elements more so than having the elements be part of your body so the water and fire should not be as close to katara and zukos bodies esp w zuko the fire should be coming out of his feet not behind it
love how it turned out. as a hardcore fan since childhood I would say, the more you look at it the more things you notice, that make a little less sense but it still turned out cool asf ps: you're never ever too old to watch the show for the first time, every avatar fan will promise you, that it'll be your new favorite show no matter how old you are haha
I loved your art! You're never too old to watch Avatar, so don't let that stop you. As a huge fan of the show, here's my take on your artwork: It's logical to put Sokka and Katara together because they are siblings. Even though Sokka is not a bender, he becomes a leader and a skilled fighter. Regarding Toph's pose, it could be steadier. Part of her character is that, despite being a little girl, she is immovable like a mountain. There are only a few rocks in the image, and she could bend them with just her pinky LOL. However, my main criticism is that Zuko looks too angry. Yes, he is known as the angry and emo boy, but by the time he joins the Avatar team, he has become more in tune with his bending and no longer draws his powers from anger. This is a significant part of his character arc. So, putting season 1 Zuko into Zuko's clothes and hairstyle from season 3 it's confusing.
Each form of bending is basted on a different form of martial art. The animators and creators studied martial art extensively, and even learned said arts, to get it right. It makes bending more of an art than "moving rocks with her mind." lol. I hope you consider watching the show in the future, it really is a masterpiece.
You can definitely still watch avatar the last air bender as an adult AND watch avatar korra (the one after avatar aang) their animation is great and fight scenes are pleasing to watch and satisfying when they’re bending and hitting the enemies at the right spots lol
i come here just to say that first of all great video and second here in Argentina and in the whole hispanic world we call ATLA Avatar: the legend of Aang. Make your questions

Your style is awesome but yeah, Zuko looks like he accidently set his foot on fire and is pissed about it 😂 If you watched the show you'd know firebenders aren't immune to fire! In this pose fire should be shooting straight forward from his hand/ foot like a flamethrower, without quite touching him.
i think i would think its a misinformed fan if i didnt know
i would say kataras necklace obviously is missing but she didnt have it for some time in the show so you could argue it was during that time
and if i were to nitpick toph's form looks a little diff than it should i would say the other hand should also be a fist and her other leg should be dropped down as well with both knees out
also bending is controlling the elements more so than having the elements be part of your body so the water and fire should not be as close to katara and zukos bodies esp w zuko the fire should be coming out of his feet not behind it
“Emo fire boy” most accurate description of Zuko 😂
love how it turned out. as a hardcore fan since childhood I would say, the more you look at it the more things you notice, that make a little less sense but it still turned out cool asf
ps: you're never ever too old to watch the show for the first time, every avatar fan will promise you, that it'll be your new favorite show no matter how old you are haha
Also there’s only 3 seasons by the way
I loved your art!
You should watch the show and draw it again since you’ll understand it better
im loving every video you post!!
your style in this is so cool and I loved the RESULT AHH!!
Jackieeeeeeeee Droujkoooooooooooooo! That's what I say everytime i watch your video
i love love love love the drawing, only i don't understand the fire foot
i come here just to say that first of all great video and second here in Argentina and in the whole hispanic world we call ATLA Avatar: the legend of Aang. Make your questions
"as Aang says... 'hiya' probably"
"All 20 seasons of avatar" Yep you DEFINITELY haven't seen it its only 3😂
LMAO
